Saving clone shapes?

WonderlandWonderland Posts: 7,132

So I tried saving a clone shape for A3 for G3, hoping I could get A3's clothes to autofit to G3, but it never showed up as an option for autofit. I was assuming it wouldn't be that easy or PA's wouldn't be selling things like Wear Them All (not ALL, no gen 3 figure clothes.) So, anyway, what is saving a clone for then, if not autofit???

If you really need gen 3 clothes for genesis 3, you can always autofit to genesis 1 and then save as a support asset - figure/prop assets and then autofit that to genesis 3

I know, I've been slowly upgrading, but what is saving as a clone for???

IIRC that is to save out rig data files and not the morph, autofit doesn't need them to work so I've never bothered digging too deeply into it.

Clones are the same as morphs and you save them in the same way, ie Morph Asset, if you use the CMS then in the save window you can change the "Type" from Shape to Clone.

If you don't use the CMS then you will have to edit the DSF asset file, usually around line 20 in the un-compressed file you'll see "type" : "Modifier/Shape", change it to read "type" : "Modifier/Clone", save it and DS will now see it as a clone.

    Thanks, but what is CMS?

CMS = Content Management Service, if you use Catagories, Smart Content or even Connect then you are using the CMS, it gets installed at the same time as you install DS.

Oh, cool, then if I save as a morph asset, then I can create autofit clones for A3, and even in reverse, create autofit clones of G3 clothes wearable on G2 and G1??? Or maybe even Star or other non-Genesis characters? If so, I can see why this is such a well kept secret... (I already purchased all the other clones, but at least they included a few extra fitting morphs.)
