3D Glasses for still images- Where to buy?

I've been trying for an hour now to find 3D glasses and all I can come up with is links to 3D glasses for movie theators. Those will not work on a normal screen on a still image. I want to start making my renders 3D... Buy how can I do that, if I can't even see if it work? Can anyone help me find a pair?

Do you you mean the "Red Blue glasses", also called "Anaglyph 3D"?

  • Are you referring to the old style red & blue lens 3D glasses? I just did a Google search for "red and blue lens 3d glasses" and turned up a bunch of places to buy them.

I got mine from ebay, for a dollar or so... :) It was nice, made a few test images, they all looked nice and fun, played with it for a day, and I haven't done any 3D images ever since. :)))))

    Amazon has quite a few.

  • I was able to find them in a Dollar store in Montreal in the toy section. There are a few 3D books for kids that are about 2 dollars that came with glasses.

All this said, analglyphic is a terrible, TERRIBLE way to view 3D.  I just put up the left and right side by side and cross my eyes to get the correct convergence, but for those who can't do that, there's Google Cardboard.

  • thank you for the help

    there's Google Cardboard.

Exactly. For digital, Cardboard is a nice and cheap way to recreate the old French postcards (nekked ladies optional). Just about everyone has a smart phone. You don't really even need the Google stuff; any viewer with the lenses will display a stereoscopic pair that you can create in Photoshop.

My red & blue lens 3D glasses came with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.

I sadly can't find a great Google Cardboard viewer.. I got a cardboard one which is a good size, but uncomfortable, so I've been looking for a plastic one, but they're all designed for bigger phones than mine (iPhone 5s) so the phone is further away from the face, and thus doesn't completely fill the field of vision :(

    1st world problems I know :)

If you do want a pair of red/cyan anaglyph glasses, about the best I've ever used are the Anachrome Avaitors, for about $10. I've been buying my 3D stuff from Steve Berezin for a decade or two.

But I would tend to go for a strap-on style Google cardboard device. You can get a half-way decent one for about $25. (I already have a Samsung Gear VR that came with a Galaxy S7 promo offer, so I use a $0.99 app called Cardboard Enabler for Gear VR that lets me run all cardboard apps).
