Rim Light Rig

Hello,

Has anyone used a Rim Light Rig set of lights: http://www.daz3d.com/rim-light-rig

Whatever I do I end up with the complete black figure or completely lit up scene?

Thanks in advance

That light set is for 3Delight render engine. Are you using 3DL, or Iray?

Yes, I have it and love it. It is for 3Delight, not Iray. (Marshian's new Body of Light set does have rim lights in it, but they're different than these.)

The Rim Light Rig is a great set with a lot of flexibility. I made this promo for my superhero series with it. The hair shaders are wonderful and easy to use. For postwork, I used Ron's Light Fusion brushes to add the energy effects.

  • Probably need to rotate the rig. If the lights are a group, select the group and use Y rotate in the parameters tabe to position the lights until you are getting the desired result in your preview window.

Did anyone figure this out? I'm having the same problem but am dying to try this. It looks awesome! Is there a tutorial somewhere or at least something that shows settings? I see some are saying it is for 3DL and not Iray but I don't seem to have the option to change. Sorry for my ignorance and thanks in advance smiley

There is a set for 3dl and another for iray, 2 different products, so match up the version with the render engine you're using. Check this out and let me know if you're still having trouble. I'm here to help

The set that is linked by momirborocki is for 3Delight.  Make sure you are using the one for Iray if that is what you are rendering with.
