does anyone kow how to get the repaint option in UW3D pro?
I do not have it under file and downloaded the latest version
its frustrating as I have used it for other stuff for a few years yet the map transfer option I have never been able to solve

I wish I could help you... There is a lot of assumption over there that users are completely familiar with all aspects of UV mapping... They need more tutorials or at least some sort of a forum so people can help each other... The handful of tutorials just don't cut it.
I've only contacted them once, when my activation code didn't work, so I have no idea how prompt an answer may be, but at the bottom of the page you linked to its say " got any other questions about repainting mesh UVs, please let us know"...
Give it a try... They responded pretty quick with my code, and it was on a holiday... Maybe they'll be helpful.
I will try that option if I hear nothing else here but am hoping surely someone has transfered G3F to G2F etc with it since that is the topic of the tutorial
I have seen the tutorial and never really thought to try it myself, but I just looked and can't find the repaint mesh option either
I'm sending them (UU3D) a suggestion to expand their tutorials section to include some FAQs or some explanations of the main features of UU3D... I'm also mentioning that they might consider adding some sort of a user forum to their site, but I realize that last one is a big undertaking and probably would have already happened by now if they were interested in that sort of thing.
If recent events in the world have taught me anything, sometimes just being silent and waiting for someone else who "knows better" to speak up to effect change or fix something isn't always the route to go... Even if it falls on deaf ears, at least I'll know it was said.
I just bought the 64 bit pro version and I have the Repaint Mesh UVs under File\Export\Repaint Mesh UVs.
But I haven't tried to use it yet or to do anything in fact, as I just got my activation code.
odd, I even redownload the latest version and reinstalled it and the option is still missing
oh I did not have latest latest version it seems
is solved now and one must uninstall previous too!!!
....and a classic on G3F

No familiar with "Repaint" does that take older maps and remap them to different UV's or something?
yes like texture converter or map transfer it takes two meshes which are the same shape and transfers the images pixel by pixel
WOW.. that's kinda cool! BUT you have to have exact cloned shapes for it to work?
Ultimate Unwrap gives you what you need. here is the tutorial
http://unwrap3d.com/u3d/tutorial_repaint_mesh.aspx
yes I made clones for everyone with genX to autofit all their clothes but one could domino convert up through generations
Dublin V4 texture on default G3F
Thanks so much! Copied and saved! :-)
some other figures are not so easy to clone relying on just Crossdresser4 to get a fit
lets just say its more like the twilight zone than nearing dusk.....
So you are using CrossDresser 4 to make your clones, @th3digit? Is that the product by EvilInnocence?
Is there a forum specific to this product? I've read through most of the tutorials I can find. But I'm still not understanding something.
I have a vase. I wanted to select the bottom, the inside and the outside and then map the bottom as a plane and the other two as cylinders. Not sure if that's the best way, but it was what I was doing to try to learn the program. But I will switch to the bottom view and just select the bottom, but when I rotate, there will be parts selected elsewhere and I can't figure out how to only select what I am seeing. I know modeling programs chose an option if you only want to select the visible. I did see an option that said select back faces too (or something like that) but it wasn't checked.
Anybody know how to do what I'm describing?
Thanks.
yes its rather lacking in instructions
I tend to combine UV mapping in it with actions like creating shading domains and separating the UV's in Carrara then tidying it it up in UUW3D as Carrarra freezes up moving UV islands etc if too highpoly.
you can on the right select by surfaces.
you can also create surface domains in UUW3D I just usually already have them from when I model stuff even if unmapped.
I am no expert at UV mapping though, I just do simple projections of my surfaces.
as for XD4 I used that for Dusk as have a license for him but it only really matched the body not the front of the head.
I used GenX for the others and Sickleyields clone for Genesis I had bought before Genesis3 genX addon
The 64bit version of UUW 3,5 is awesome. It may take some discovery and experimentation, but you will find that there are very few mesh, uv and animation that can't be fixed with this tool. UltimateUnwrap3d continues to be the most useful toolset in 3d. Thanks Brad for the killer update!
The shapes should be as close as possible near the seams, or near other areas with fine geometry detail, such as the nose, ears, fingers, toes, etc... . But, elsewhere, it doesn't have to be a perfect match. All it does is shoot a straight line through the two shapes and takes note of the intersection.
The two shape matching morphs on the tutorial page should give you pixel perfect results. I haven't tested other shape matching morphs.
But, if you are using your own shape matching morphs, then there's an extra step you have to take to improve the results. Close the eyelids, open the mouth slightly, and possibly move out the eyes and teeth. This is what the shape matching morphs on the tutorial page do. Otherwise, you may get black pixels, which means no intersection was found between the two shapes.
I'm glad you enjoy it. :)
I may try that with Dusk, my not so successful match on the head above
