Aniblock and Animate 2 for Genesis 3
Okay, so I want to do some animation. I understand that most aniblocks don't work with G3.
What's really weird is that I made my own "Blinking" aniblock using keyframes w/ a G3 model. However, when I tried to copy / paste it further along the timeline my figure went insane. She literally spun around and her face looked like it had been hit by a truck and her eyeballs popped out of her head.
Anybody know what's going on or a work around?
I have keymate / graphmate as well, but it's practically impossible to find any of the keyframes in there!

@Leonides02 I litterally spit my coffee all over when I read this post, the visual. I use Iclone for animation for G2 and now G3 can be taken into Iclone as well. I stopped using annimate because I was having problems with my clothing following the animation and I gave up trying to figure out keymate and graphmate. Have you tried this product by DraagonStorm? You can use it to convert G2 animations to G3. I've used it and it's not bad.

Also, take a look at this forum thread
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/109961/pose-and-animation-conversion-for-multiple-generations-of-daz-figures/p1
I have had little success converting them to aniblocks though.
Genesis 3 and aniblocks seem to be incompatible.
I saved the converted animation as a bvh file and imported into Iclone.
I use iClone 3DXchange pipeline with all my earlier figures and yes Draagonstorms script can convert them and aniblocks for earlier figures baked to timeline
but
Have you tried saving those converted motions as aniblocks?
Thats where I run into the big mess.
My experience has been its way more work than it was worth & what you get out of it using converted older generation aniblocks to use for genesis 3 . IMO your better off making them from scratch and saving them as ani blocks made for genesis 3 or buying aniblock or motions files that are already made for genesis 3. other wise . your always having to spend a lot of time tweak the motions files of the older aniblocks you converted to genesis 3, That is only if you were successful in your conversion. I don't use Iclone because I have a enough on my plate trying to understand daz for animation. so I can't give you any advice on a working pipeline & aniblocks for iclone.Sorry.
I did send a message to GoFigure that I would be happy to rebuy all my AniBlocks redone for Genesis 3 but they stay silent.
I am with Ivy, I prefer animating with Genesis 2 and below except in iClone, I do not bother tring to get that back out anymore.
LOL, looking at what happened was pretty funny.
But I still don't understand why my aniblock didn't work. I made it using a G3 figure. Is there something special I need to do to make it compatible even though it was built from the keyframes on the timeline?
What's really strange is that the first aniblock in the timeline works fine. It's only when I copy/pase it further along that things go nuts. :\
Animate2 and aniblocks do work for Genesis 3, however the twist bones in the arms and legs in the Genesis 3 skeleton are not fully supported by Animate2. Features like the sub track properties and retargeting aren't supported for those bones, but you can create and edit key frames for the them and they'll work fine.
As ALLIEKATBLUE pointed out, there are products in the store and my poorly named Pose and animation conversion for multiple generations of DAZ figures,
, freebie script. I haven't used any store products for this, but I have used my script to convert quite a few animations from V3, V4 and G2F to G3F. The rsg scripts, which my script relies on, also allow you to create other source and target pairs, say Dawn to G2F or Dusk to V4.
My script will allow you to convert aniblocks, DAZ Studio timeline animations or poses. I specifically designed it so the source of the animation doesn't matter. Just load the character and its source animation/pose and your target, select both and run the script. It is best to do it in a scene with only those two models loaded, but not necessary.
There are animation issues with the Genesis 3 line, especially when attempting to import and export animations in at least the BVH format. Several of us have talked them to death in other threads, notably in the Import export animation for genesis3 (edit) thread, but I think there were some others.
It is unclear why your G3F blew up on pasting the aniblock, but here is possibly one source that has plagued me with all of GoFigure's plugins. They all have their own keyboard shortcuts and expected features like Copy, Cut and Paste use non-standard shortcuts when they are supported.
If you did a standard DAZ Studio shortcut for Copy and Paste, under windoze CTRL-C and CTRL-V, you weren't actually copying and pasting anything in animate2. You were copying and pasting something in DAZ Studio though. That might have been what happened.
