What is Keyshot?

What is Keyshot? Is it new? How does it differ from Iray? Better or worse?
Never heard of it before, now I see some really cool artists are using it. Just wondering.

Excellent rendering program, similar to Iray. Expensive. It's been around for a long time.
Keyshot is up to version 6. So it's been around. It's been used mostly for product shots, like rotating jewelry, or product like cameras, widgets, robots, etc. It has many canned motions that save time. It does not have keyframing.
It's a raytracer, not an unbiased renderer as Iray. It's CPU based, but can add some special effects with a GPU. It has many predefined materials. I've never used it. Use you Google power to find out more.
For super simple renders, there is a cut down version. I have it, as it came with my CAD program. If you're just wanting to render simple shapes, it's ideal and quite fast, though the lighting choices are exceptionally limited. Whenever I want to generate a render when selling 3D printed model parts through shapeways, it's what I use. If you want to do more, than you'll need the uberexpensive full version.
Really expensive..that's what it is. LOL

Keyshot, good for convert Sketchup models to obj and being usable in DazStudio.
is perfect is you use their own shaders included, using Keyshot SSS on Daz figures...ah...avoid it.
Thanks for the answers. Just curious.
Keyshot is rendering software made by Luxerion so it uses LuxRender . Lux. render engine is available for many applications including DS http://www.luxrender.net/en_GB/daz_studio
Wat?? No.... That is not correct... at all
I could be wriong but what am I missing, ref the docs https://keyshot.com/scripting/doc/6.0/lux.html
I use Luxurion Hypersot 4 Pro & Keyshot 5 and Simlab 3d 7 which is powered by lux named render engine. To me the outcome similar in use and effect IMO.
Guess which is which?
ANSL Simlab Lux, Keyshot, Hypershot, Keyshot
According to their admin of their Forum, luxrender has nothing to do with Keyshot https://www.keyshot.com/forum/index.php?topic=4544.0
