Kajira and more terrible product descriptions

"...but the What's Included list is clear."

Until you realize EVERY product in the store that says Beth/jasmine/lisa/bonnie/carol/Jane  FOR  VICTORIA 7 is a character.

Not for Victoria 7, but near the top of the first page of the store we have https://www.daz3d.com/z-exercise-time-poses-for-genesis-8-female-and-victoria-8 (though that does say poses in the product name).

Keep in mind this is an older product that came over from RDNA. The way product descriptions/pages were over there is a lot different from the way Daz does things. When in doubt, look at the What's Included at the bottom of every product page so you know exactly what you're getting. That list should remove all questions over what is included.

Edit: Specifically, a character will include texture maps, morph files, presets, etc.

Here's the original RDNA page, not much difference IMO:

You mean beside the fact that the description in the RDNA page clearly states that the product is poses and a collar? ;)

Now we're discussing promos - I find it annoying if not misleading that many character promos do not include a shot of the face without make up. Just checked some of the latest ones, I think only 3 out of 10 includes a clean face shot. Some with showing the backside of clothing, a lot of product pages do not do that either. Often it's enough for me to skip a product, don't want to have to purchase it just to see how it actually looks and having the trouble with returning it if I don't like it.

And better as he clearly spells out that the model is a morph done to a  genesis 3 figure. So it's not even a product for purchase.

And...and there's a category heading that tells you the product TYPE.

Well, you have that with Daz, too, but...

Yeah, "Animation" is perhaps not the best short name. It's actually "Animation and Poses", but it's not fully shown in the breadcrumb. :(

Not clearly IMO, could easily have fooled me.

Submit to your inner desires with these soft sensual poses for the Genesis 3 Female and Victoria 7.

    INCLUDES:

13 submissive full poses and their mirrors for Genesis 3 female and Victoria 7.
    1 Collar prop

If that's not clear enough, I don't know what could be....

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,056

Yeah, the RDNA page is much more clear.

Well INCLUDES often means something extra that's included with the main item so IMO that's a bit unclear, considering the context (product name, main promo).

I know I rarely buy 1 item at a time.  I usually have several and don't always pause to FULLY register each one. I don't.

I used to snatch new stuff without thinking and only raise an eyebrow over older items. Now I pause for the new releases too, to see if it's Genesis 8 or 8 & 3...or...

If it's Sabby, you know once you land on that page, it's all figures. So I don't scan every one if they are the featured. The wishlist ones go in the cart.

Dreamlight is the opposite and I STILL am not sure what some of those items are.

They have billboards, lights for other products, lessons, real 3D sets and backdrops and...and...

The sci-fi  ~~ included items banner opens up a ton of stuff. I was like "Why haven't I grabbed this before?!" but it all got dumped out the cart (again)  now that I saw and remembered that they are Bryce items.

So yep, you gotta pay attention. But I also don't want to start a thread every time I need some answers about a product.

I know I've picked up some items when I first started that I still don't know what they are for or how to use them, but the promos looked cool and looked like a product I could do something with.

  • Well, I was confused as well with the product at first.  But, it didn't take me long to figure out that it was a pose set.  If it wasn't what you were wanting, I'm sure Daz will refund the purchase.  They're very good about that sort of thing.

Aside from that, they are very nice poses.  I liked them because they were a change from the pack after pack of "(insert adjective here) model poses" that mysteriously all look alike.

I will say that you have to watch out for those "bargain" RDNA items for $5.  They look like a really great deal until you realize that you are only buying one piece of a three piece outfit.

If you're still wondering, the skin for the model is Karen 7 / Genesis 8 Female (they're the same).

LOL I bought this too and assumed it was the pretty character in the promos. Glad I didn't pay much for it. Not really into slave collars and Gor poses myself. OMG, that's hilarious!

And yes, some of the migrated RDNA items are a guessing game as to what they actually contain. I usually try to read the descriptions, but they're not always much help.

Hmm, maybe I could use the GOR poses on G3M doing the laundry. *snicker*

For a long time there was only the main promo that made the transition. Only the story blurb got transferred and I didn't even put that there, the rest of the description never got transferred over. My apologies to all that thought it was a char set.

Well, if you weren't in control of it, why should you apologize? (But nice of you to do so.)  yes

I'm sorry if I sounded harsh in my post above. Not trying to diss your work. Just surprised to discover what I bought was not exactly what I thought I bought.

Yes, I make copies of the product pages as soon as I've purchased something and I can see it only had the main promo back then, so I guess that was why I thought it was a character.

As for the poses, after taking a closer look at them I actually like most of them, they can easily be used in other contexts than "gore" either as they are or slightly modified.

BTW, for users of the DAZ Account Manager I'll suggest deleting this product (right click, select "Delete product data folder") and the re-download it to get the updated promos with the poses.

sadly I recognised the word having read John Norman's books in my youth.

it was like something bad for you that tasted rather off but you had to keep looking to see how much worse it could get, Sharon Green was another such author.

Somewhat of a feminist that I am I tended to put my self in that world in my imagination and fantasies  and think about how I would go about and organise and lead the resistance!!!

I found that by reading the books and skipping over the parts that dealt with slaves they were really good books; as the novels went on and on, though, I found myself sometimes skipping whole chapters to get back to the parts that were worth reading...

So not the same as gore?

  • Oso3DOso3D Posts: 15,056

There is a 'lifestyle kink' of people who try to live out Gor principles, IE: women deeply desire to be subjugated as slaves of men.

    Yeah.

Ooooohhhh...LOL.  Well, I guess I can see how that would apply.  I've never read those novels, although, I do remember a pretty low budget B movie with that title.  I'm guessing it must've been based off those books?

Well, I suppose most fantasy stories also require the hero / heroine to be imprisoned or abducted at some point (even Princess Leia).  So, the Kajira poses should be a good start for that.  I also thought they'd be good poses for court attendants and serving girls (minus the collar and such).  Those extended hands could be holding towels or food...etc.  With a bit of reworking, they might also be good for Japanese bath type scenes.

Honestly, I thought these poses were one of the better items in the last RDNA bargain sale.  I can't remember what all else I bought....But, it was a cart full.

Now, where did I put that gold bikini?  Is it just me, or does the Eternal outfit for G3F seem to have a lot of similarities?

This does seem to be getting into somewhat dubious territory so the thread has been locked (and slightly trimmed).
