possibility of getting Zbrush student/academic version online

Hi. I am interested to get Zbrush full instead of just going for zbrushcore. I ll be doing this for non profit. I have finished my studies, could it be possible to get Zbrush student/academic version instead online? I will try to get the zbrush full commerficial but at the moment its cost prohibitive and i dont intend to sell any item or use it for any commercial use. Just getting Zbrush to learn it start making 3d stuffs for Daz as a hobby.
Thanks for any advice.

You'd need to be a student (maybe even a teacher?) to get the student/academic license, but this sounds like a better question for Pixologic. Daz aren't the creators of Zbrush and do not have anything to do with them.
Alternatively, Sculptris is free and Autodesk Mudbox is $10/month or $80/year. Blender is also an option.
I recommend starting with a free program like Blender. I think there are a lot more tutorials for that program as well.
thanks for the offer. boy you sure like Blender eh? awesome.but i actullay have tried blender but its just hard for me and i struggled, and stressed out when using it..i have spent a year on blender. reading tutorials everyhwere at cg cookies and other site. i think itsjust not for me. im an middle aged/older generation. i heard blender is however welcomed and used efficiently by the younger/new generation. i have tried to like it, but at this age im willing to throw in the money to save time and have easier life in arts....and skip all the very technical stuffs. not as young anymore to learn and relearn stuffs multiple time. think i d save that time for some other things in life. i like zbrush because of easiness of sculpting, and its easy on the eyes. the UI is not as clunky and as small as blender,(my eyes hurt with all the small writings) and im not sure how to reconfigure the interface. I have tried zbrush, although not as easy i thought, but i think i can cope with it better than blender. If i only i can get the student/academic version, i ll get it now, and upgrade in the later months to full.
You can get ZBrush academic only through other retailers not Pixologic itself. Here is a list. pixologic.com/retailers/
I have heard of people getting academic licenses for some software for continuing study if they still have a school email address but this is always up to the retailer and varies a lot by software.
cool. thanks for the info. i have talked to my local retailer of Zbrush, but they said they ll get back to me on Tuesday. Hopefully they wont ask for student ID which i dont have. I however have read at other forums where people were telling others to get the academic license first and upgrade later. and they arent students either. just trying to get zbrush for non profit, instead of going for the gimped version of zbrush that is zbrushcore. i plan to upgrade/or just get the full zbrush but that would take months, if not good whole year .i m not sure id like to wait that long. and i heard zbrush 5 gonna cost money..ah....why is ZBRUSH getting more and more expensive?
Sorry, pal. I know how that goes.
Hi,
Pixologic doesn't have special licensing for non-profits, it's academic only (https://store.pixologic.com/zbrush-4r8/academic-and-educational-license/). Maybe Sculptris by Pixologic would fit your needs until ZBrush becomes more affordable.
Blender is, as mentioned by others, a good option too. Also you can easily scale up UI elements in Blender if this is the primary reason you're not comfortable with this application. I found this quick YouTube tutorial helpful when I needed to change the size of Blender's UI, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08ZEB0qLnJY. Hope this information helps.

I got my copy of R7 last semester from Creation Engine, which is one of the sites that specializes in academic software (there are others). The academic version costs about 2/3 the price of the retail version. You do have to send them proof that you are a student, or a teacher, I suppose. They had both the download version and the CD version. Don't know whether they have the CD version of R8, or if it's possible to upgrade academic R7 to academic R8. So I'm waiting for Tuesday as well.
Have you tried the demo version of ZBrush? It would be a shame to spend all that money, even if you can find a wy to qualify for the student version, and not get on with it. Depending on your goals it may also be worth looking at Mudbox, which has a subscription model, or 3D Coat, which has sevral purchase options and is cheaper than ZBrush.
You might also look at 3D Coat. There is a non-commercial version for about a hundred bucks U.S. and has way more functionality than Zbrush Core. Even the commercial version is less than 400 dollars U.S. Also has a 30 day trial version so you got plenty of time to see if you'll like it.

No, I don't. Not at all actually. But it's free and it's a way to "get your feet wet" without the expensive programs. ZBrush is hugely cost prohibitive. I have it, but I never would have bought it myself. My husband got it for me for a birthday present. I do prefer ZBrush to Blender, but again, it's hugely expensive and not many people can fork over that much money all at once.
But yeah, I agree, Blender is a pain in the bottom to learn. I don't like it and have tried to learn it, but it never clicked with me. However I know there are quite a few people who use it and quite a few tutorials on how to use it - and I think most people probably are a bit quicker to pick up how to use programs like that than I am. lol So I do recommend it as a starting point - after all, if it was such a bad program, there wouldn't be so many people using it ...at least that's how I look at it. lol
yeah i take my word back.Sorry, and thank you the recommendation. I might have overlooked in my haste. Blender is awesome. i think i will go back to Blender one more time, and probably other software like 3d coat or mudbox as suggested by others here. I m facing to many roadblocks at every turn in getting zbrush i think i m giving up coz its no longer fun. Theres a new tutorial happened to pop here at daz today about using blender and daz studio for morphs and modeling. https://www.daz3d.com/easy-modeling-and-morphing-with-blender
maybe ill get that and see how it goes. Thanks again @divamakeup and everyone else.
Good luck! I look forward to seeing your creations! :)
I highly recommend getting a dedicated 3D modeler. If you're only going to do morphs, ZB will work, even ZB core. Making 3D meshes should really be optimized with lower poly meshes as it is very easy and natural to get into millions of polygons when sculpting in ZB. You can, with ZB use ZRemesher and Retopology to create lower poly meshes and with guides, you can obtain decent topology. Retopology will give you more control over the edge flow of your models.
ZBrush has UV mapping, but it is not my favorite way to UV unwrap. I prefer my 3D programs for that. Blender is good on all counts and if you're gonna buy ZB, Blender being free can be a good reason to try it. ;)
thanks for the support. i ll show you what i have first
Sounds good! :) Feel free to drop me a PM with the link(s). I'd love to check out what you're up to.
