"Best Program" for turning images (renders) into paintings and Paint

in The Commons
I'm interested in Dynamic Auto Painter
http://www.mediachance.com/dap/
Looking to turn images into paintings. - didn't know if there were other alternatives.
Need something robust, with lots of options.
NOT interested in Filter Forge.
Not interested in Photoshop Filters/Plug-ins.
NOT interested in a Daz Shader.
For my from scratch work, Rebelle 2 is being added to the palette
https://www.escapemotions.com/products/rebelle/
Anyone use these? Or know similar products?
Comments
FotoSketcher (https://fotosketcher.com/)
It's free. That's good enough for me.
Very cool.
There's another recent thread with some good suggestions: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/209861/painted-portrait-style
I recommend PhotoDonut and Topaz Studio.
Jixipix https://jixipix.com have quite a large range of products for doing this. And are either standalone or plugins which gives the best of both worlds..
I use Dynamic Auto Painter all the time. Here are two examples.
Holy cow, Fast. That second example is it. Well done!
Another devoted Dynamic Auto Painter user here. I only mentioned it in glowing terms on another thread yesterday. I wouldn't be without it.
Topaz impressions.
Long as we're all here. How are people making the images that partially move?
I'm hoping the answer isn't After Effects. lol
I like DAP - it has a lot of presets and is easy to figure out. The one drawback, IMO, in that the results aren't entirely consistent between images even if you use the exact same presets each time. If you want to do a series of images, for example a graphic novel, the colors and level of detail may vary a lot between the images. Then again, it's quite possible I'm doing something wrong or I'm too picky. It has a free trial version, so definitely try it out. If you're trying for a unified look, grab several images with a wide range of colors and levels of detals and see if you're happy with the results.
For other options, check out Topaz Labs. They have several really nice plugins, some of which are also available as stand alone programs. They recently came out with Topaz Studio as well, which is a free, stand-alone image program with some free effects, plus Pro Adjustments (which you can purchase per adjustment or buy the entire bundle.) They have a ton of community presets you can use and you can release your own presets back to the community.
Topaz Studio is stand alone (and free). Topaz Impression used to be sold as a plugin for Photoshop and a stand alone is now a plugin for Topaz Studio. It does an incredible job of taking photos and renders to paintings. Fast and lots of options. I used it for a lightly painted look on these, though you can do all kinds of things with it and make them look heavily painted, surreal, etc.
Just downloaded Topaz Studio and well it is impressive the amount of filters there are for it, even better that it is now free..
@Llynara any way to get some before and afters?
That would really help...um...pretty please?
Also, how extreme does it go?
I tried it and it's great... Thanks
I bought the full version of Dynamic Auto Painter (DAP) after I tried out the demo, it gives you option to stop the process at anytime, which results in a messy paint finish which occassionally looks very good. There are lots of old master styles that generate interesting effects and finishes. Fotosketcher also has some great presets too. Quite impressive for a free program. And I've recommended Topaz Studio a few time in my art gallery thread. It is seriously fun to use. It takes your basic render and gives you the option, using the presets, to just add a little pop to the image or turn it into something significantly different. All three have a demo or are free. All are worth the download to try out. No dissapointment with any of them. .
I think I'll go Topaz for FREE and get the Rebelle 2, when I want to start from a blank canvass.
Thanks a bunch.

I saw a tutorial on how to do that in Gimp so I'm assuming most people are doing similar things with Photoshop.
picked up dap yesterday. full price. just great. everyone else does black friday before friday.
great resources post.
thanks
Long as we're here, is there a way to REMOVE the loaded image- once you're done? Silly, I know.
But once I'm done, how do I start NEW and get rid of all the pictures?
OR remove an image I don't want to work on, after all?
There's no FILE/NEW option?
hello, do you refer to picturetopeople.org? I wouldn't pay anything for dap. I dont see this being anything good.
images will be automatically removed after you dont use the webpage, navigate back and press reload arrow of your navigator to choose a new image.
I also suggest you to get GIMP, it's good, easy and free.
with GIMP you can have a plugin called batch image manipulation, and set two or more effects to fast apply on a list of images at once, very useful.

@avxp are you talking about DAP ?
Just open a new image it will remove the old one or "reload current file" if you want to try another effect on the same image.
@EquisVoid I use anything that gives me results to my liking. For example I like very much Fotosketcher (free) and the free version of PhotoDonut. But I won't use any online method. For a number of reasons including slow internet connexion.
Ahhh yes, that's what I was doing.
I just didn't know if the old drawings were still hanging out underneath the new image. lol
I will try fotosketcher :)
Ok, tried PhotoDonut and Photosketcher, and I am not impressed. i prefer GIMP and the website picturetopeople
DAP offers a great interface and great presets.
