Santa’s Toy Workshop in Fast Grab [Commercial] and Now-Crowd Billboard Questions
Just in time for your holiday renders, Santa’s Toy Workshop is in Fast Grab. This project was truly one of my favorite to create, and I hope it can bring some Christmas joy to any project you are working on. With a slew (or sleigh?) of old fashioned toys, props, furniture, complete with a wood burning stove and lanterns, with a lighting setup, this set is packed with details.
I would be thrilled to see some renders in this thread using the Toy Workshop. Happy Holidays to you, the amazing artists out there. And may the New Year bring you good fortune and many happy returns. I hope that doesn’t sound too generic, lol. I really never know what to say.
As Silver so nicely pointed out, I forgot to link to the store page in this post: https://www.daz3d.com/santa-s-toy-workshop

That is great timing. I love Santa's Toy Workshop. I can highly recommend it. My free Holiday gift to everyone came out today, Now-Crowd Billboards - Santa's Elves, and uses Santa's Toy Workshop for the main promo:
I saw that, RiverSoft. Very cool :) I also see Fisty & Darc's Ginger Snap Outfit in those renders. Here is a link to that outfit, for those who are interested:

That environment is very highly detailed and ADORABLE! Awesome work, Brian!
It is truly a wonderful environment. A lot of great things in it.
Your elf billboards look like they're going to be a lot of fun! I have never used billboards though, so I don't know where to find them or how to use them. I went to your Read Me and saw that you've included a tutorial:
A detailed User Guide and Tutorial can be found here:
49263_nowcrowdbillboardssantaselves.pdf
However, when I click on it, the link just takes me to a page that says "forbidden". I hate to bug you about this, since it's a freebie that you've generously created and given to the community and the last thing I want to do is bother you with it -but I'd love to be able to use the billboards (they're SO CUTE) so having access to the tutorial would be great (since I have no idea how to use billboards or even where to find them in my product library). Is there an alternate link to the tutorial?
For anyone else lazy like me here is the link to the set since it wasnt posted!

It is awesome. I own it already of course!
Yes, @Divamakeup, it looks like the link is wonky - try this instead: http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/read_me/index/49263/49263_nowcrowdbillboardssantaselves.pdf
It's also in the download zip files (supposedly - I'm only half-way through downloading the first so not certain)
Thank you for finding a link that works
You're welcome - I just compared the link in the Santa's Elves ReadMe with one in another ReadMe and modified to match.
I've almost finished downloading now (wow these are big too!) so hope to play later. Thanks for this great freebie!
MelanieL gave a link but a quick step by step to use the billboards
BTW, thank you for the compliment! I really like how the elf painting a toy turned out. Please post some renders. I would love to see people enjoying it.
Just grabbed it this year I think i missed it last year with the baby and all that cant wait to play :D
It's a wonderful set! So many details. You do great work, Slosh.
Thank-you all :) I'm hoping this doesn't turn into a thread about available freebies. I would rather see some renders, instead. I was in the hospital and am now at home recovering, or I would have made a freebie myself. But, unfortunately, I haven't been able to work :(
Silver, I can't believe I forgot the link!!!! Thanks for posting it for me :P
@RiverSoftArt, so....
kind from you, this is a great gift.
Never used billboards before, since my renders are often one-character transparent render or one landscape/environments (Visual Novels purposes).
So.. I think it will be a great fun.
Didn't yet downloaded/tested, so, I can't say much of that, but if I understand very good your free product, it's:
some props which can be randomized by a script within many angles/locations/poses ? No?
Anyway, my last question will be this one:
if I load some new props (like characters I saved as props), or (free props downloaded/paid props purchased), will this script be able to handle them and then randomize them ?
That is my question ! :)
@Slosh/Werks: I purchased your Santa's Toy Workshop, full of good things to make holidays renders, that's nice! Thanks!
And.. re-edit:.. I also purchased https://www.daz3d.com/ginger-snap-outfit-for-genesis-2 :D
Again, thanks, happy holidays to all !
Here's the render I did last December.
Hoping you have a speedy recovery Brian! :)
The Eavesdropping Horse
Fantastic, Novica! And seeing that trumpet reminds me of how much I struggled to model it, lol. Looks deceptively easy, but it was a real challenge
This is a render I knocked up for the Christmas pack for one of our games
No randomization in these scripts. Billboards are planes which have an image mapped onto them (in this case, elves). They are very lightweight and fast because there is nearly 0 polygons and only 1 texture. I wrote scripts to change the image mapped onto the plane, as if the figure is rotating, and to make the plane face the viewport camera.
Ah! Yeah! I understand better, it's then like Multiplane Cyclorama: https://www.daz3d.com/multiplane-cyclorama
No ?
I mean, at least for "planes images mapped" !
Thanks for your answer by the way!
I don't have that product so I cannot say for sure, but I think it is the opposite. It is as if the animals were transparently drawn on a plane to be placed in a 3D environment.
Speaking of animals - will you do a set of animal billboards?
Poor Slosh's thread has been hijacked. Sorry for my part in that, Slosh. I didn't know my question would snowball. :(
Well, let's get it back on track...
Brodie and Belle got into the grog and donuts and will miss the deadline. Somebody's not going to be happy...
At this time, I don't plan to. Do you have an idea for something generic enough that many people would like it?
(let's move this to the Now-Crowd thread in commercial. Let's let Slosh enjoy his thread in peace.)
Nicely done. Nothing like drool on your Christmas presents
It looks like the Toy Workshop has fallen out of Fast Grab
Yeah, I think typically it’s not more than 3 days. Not sure about that, but it seems to be that way
