    If you want a dirty and ugly way of doing it, just apply a metallic shader to your figure's hair.

    I've tried that before, but just got a solid metal hair...no strand differentiation.   So, I'm also interested in a good technique for creating silver strands.

    ctrl + click the metal shader, a window pops up, chose "ignore images". it will apply it's settings without losing the image maps for the hair.

    Ok, got silver hair but wig like in that sample picture would be nice. I assume that there isn't any hair product that has plastic like strands.

    Mayby someone will make hair like that someday, i will definitely buy it.

    A very quick and incomplete render but... chances are the strands of hair are actually ribbons if they aren't fibremesh... one downside is that the hair generates loads of caustics so tht it takes a long time to render as it calculates all o the reflections...
