So it is. I wasn't aware. When I think Corel, I think graphics, not business software. Hmmm...
Dana
Yawns are not contagious. I am not yawning, I am practing expressions to see if I can get better renders.
My new hard drive arrived. I don't feel like reinstalling Daz Studio 4, Poser 9 Carrara 7 Express and my huge runtime library. I might spend two days copying documents and other programs onto the new drive. I think my motherboard only supports SATA 2.
..."new" Titan X arrived here. Now for major "tech surgery" to begin.
Auxillary brain transplant?
Or do you have an unregistered missle launch pad in your back yard?
hard drive cloners! never tried other than sata3 tho.

...hehheh to bad the first option didn't exist.
Titan-X 12 GB and 3072 cores of pure rendering power.
Happy for you. I love my Titans.
Dana
...yes, no more of those day long renders as most of my scenes will remain in GPU memory This means less messing around with manual optimisation and less post work.
Maybe not quite as fast as a 1080 Ti, but a marked improvement in performance over what I have been dealing with.
It will also be dedicated to rendering as I will be using a lesser card for the displays.
I do not feel well, but not sick enough to miss work. Actually it is a personal issue which is personally personal. It is that time again.
On other news I had a dream last night I was being put in something like a nursing home. The case worker in my dream did not call it that but she said i could not bring my computer. I panicked and asked if i could keep my job and that i needed my computer. I tried to run away but I could not run instead i had to crawl away or something like that. Guess that was a nightmare. Good news is I am not going to a nursing home to my knowledge.
The night before i had a dream that the lady in SUV was in my story universe but she did not know it. She thought it was a "normal" case but it was more sci fi/urban fantasy in nature. Yesterday I tried to watch an episode of SUV on the treadmill at my gym but with the hulu ads and the fact the treadmill was only set to run half an hour, I did not finish the full episode.
the Krakken was a Titan, wasnt he? never heard of a mrs titan, mebbe why he was grumpy
sometimes the story universe gets too exciting, cant be bothered to write it down. lol
teee cute flower pots
I believe that the Kraken is a Norse legend, not Greek. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kraken
We've been confused by horrific abuse of poetic license by movie makers. Particularly the 1981 movie "Clash of the Titans" in which the Kraken was not one of the Titans but was more of one of their pets. And in fact the principle antagonists of the movie were in fact not Titans but Olympians, just plain old simple gods. According to the Wikipedia account (which is very similar to my own, not insignificant study of mythology decades ago. But admittedly I've forgotten a lot of the details.)
The first twelve Titans were the females Mnemosyne, Tethys, Theia, Phoebe, Rhea, and Themis and the males Oceanus, Hyperion, Coeus, Cronus, Crius, and Iapetus
Wikipedia article on "Titans":https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titan_(mythology)
It's a shame that most people are so unfamiliar with the old myths and legends. They are not just entertainment. The original myths are life lessons and worked very well for the illiterate societies of the day. Perhaps they would be good lessons for today's illiterates too if not grossly re-edited for financial considerations losing much of their philosophical content.
There's an absolutely brilliant series of TV interviews with mythology expert Joseph Campbell shortly before he died. The series of shows are wonderful and the book(s) that inspired it make good reading too. https://billmoyers.com/series/joseph-campbell-and-the-power-of-myth-1988/

Examples of the life lessons of the old myths is the origin of the names "Promethius" and "Epimethius" where "Pro" is a prefix meaning "before or fore" and the prefix "Epi" means "after". and "methius" means "thinker". Promethius and Epimethius were brothers one clever the other not so much so. Promethius (before thinker) saw the gods using fire and realized how it could help man so he stole a bit of it and showed man how to use fire. Epimethius (after thinker) was the husband of Pandora and when he heard that the gods had given her a box that was not to be opened, he convinced her to open the box and to their shock and dismay it let loose all the worlds troubles, but fortunately it also let loose "Hope" too. The story of Promethius and Epimethius is sort of the "Goofus and Gallant" of the day.
It's interesting to note that at the top of the family tree of Greek deities is "Chaos" who then creates The Abyss(Tartarus), The Earth (Gaia), Love (Eros), Darkness(Erebus) and Night(Nyx).
Then Gaia creates Uranus (The Sky) and together they then produce many offspring of which the first 12 are the Titans. A few of the Titans in turn then produce another generation, many of whom are the Olympians (Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Atlas, ...)
medusa wasn't a titan, either?
Clash of the Titans has a lot to answer for, messing up my generation with mythsconceptions
thinkin bout this as a new command chair. heated and vibrating

I'm still copying "\My Library\data" folder to the new hard drive. I didn't realize how big the folder is.
...still working on getting one of those myself. Being "vehicularly challenged" makes it difficult as there are a number of office liquidation places here where I live such furniture is a lot more affordable than buying it online. One day found a lovely one (full back with lower back & hip support) at a second hand store for only 15$ and it was in excellent shape. Sadly, I had no way to get it home.
...wow. Suddenly Summer. 84° here yesterday 85° for today, then a 30° drop tomorrow to the mid 50s and back to wet. Actually had to put the ceiling fan n last night as it was so warm. The low we had last night is not far off from forecast high for tomorrow.
Went over to the old 'hood yesterday to meet with friends I hadn't seen in a while. Had a very good time.
Medusa was a Gorgon (monster), she was one of three sisters (Medusa, Euryale and Stheno) who all had hair of living snakes.
Many of the monsters in Greek mythology were offspring of sea god and godess (and brother and sister) Phorcyes and Ceto who bore the three Gorgons, and their siblings Echidna (half woman, half snake) who is called the "Mother of Monsters", and the three Graeae (the three crones who shared one eye), and Ladon (serpent dragon who wrapped himself around the trunk of the tree and guarded the golden apples sought by Hercules), and Thoosa (mother of the cyclops Polyphemus blinded by Odysseus in "The Odyssey")
Notice how most of these monsters are female?
The exact lineage of these deities depends on which source you read from which century. Especially of many of the minor characters. After all, we're talking about 3000 years of editing! But there was an awful lot of incest (brother/sister, father/daughter, grandfather/daughter, mother/son, mother/grandson, and not to mention bestiality ...) going on in that family. It's probably what led to the monsters! (See, another life lesson.
) The geneology list at the following link is just one possible compilation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_tree_of_the_Greek_gods
And, yes. It's no mythtery why Greeks legends have become tho corrupted to the modern generation.
Mix & match legends to make your movie profitable.
"Man does not behold the face of the Gorgon and live." (at 3:30). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHXfMjp2zqI
Somebody needs to go check on my laundry. My fish will not do it for me.
...still one of my all time favourite films
My fish ignored my request to check on my laundry as it did not include them being fed again today. I went ahead and checked laundry and started second load.
I need to get my bed ready for sleep soon. I think, not Daz Soon but sometime tonight soon as I am planing on going to sleep sometime tonight, I think.
...well our brief brush with summer will soon end. Officially hit 86° today. 55° and rain tomorrow through Sunday before warming back into the 70s next week.
too easy to get used to such nice weather.
Complaint: My mouse is crippled!
The middle wheel lost it's rubber tire a few months ago (disintigrated into a sludge of goo) but after tire removal the plastic wheel still had enough friction to turn the gizmo inside to effect scrolling, but now either through finger oil buildup or whatever, scrolling is now very erratic and annoying. Time to retire my gimpy mouse.
Very nice mouse. Fits my hand perfectly, has a thumb switch in addition to the two buttons and the middle button/wheel. Its batteries last a long time and it's been very reliable for years until just the last several months when I noticed the tire getting woozy and finally sloughing off. (Finger oil dissolving the soft rubber?)
The mouse will find a new quiet home in an 8x8x8 inch box of retired mice that's been with me for nearly 20 years. Once in a while I have temporary need of an old PS2 mouse or one with a tail or even an old wireless mouse, and the box gets dusted off and I find a gimpy old mouse ready to serve me once more if only for a little while.
had an earful this morning about thorian powered power plants.
why is he pitching the hard sell at me?
so the by product of burning hydrogen is waater, i'd have serious reservations about traveling with a hydrogen tank.
