Naked women of the Old West

It really says something about our industry and our community that the Old West clothes for Michael appear to be practical cowboy clothes, and the only clothes for Vickie are either 'cowgirl' costumes or something she might wear to work in a saloon or brothel. I've been looking here and in other vendors - does anyone have any suggestions for normal women's clothes, adult and child, that would have been the style in the 1800s Old West? Something a little newer than K4? Thanks!

..I find myself having to mix & match and/or kitbash often using components from male clothing to get decent old west outfits for my female characters (see attachment)

There was one in the store that almost was close to the Quick and the Dead look, but it had a plunging neckline to show cleavage and a bit of bare belly.

Outfits that are billed as late victorian are pretty topical for that period.

The few outfits I am aware of are:

    For Genesis 3 (Freebie):

    http://www.sharecg.com/v/82873/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/Pilgrim-Wear

For Genesis, a female Pioneer dress (Freebie):

For V4 (PC+), although I suspect you have seen this already.

G2F got a couple of good ones. One of them the Crinoline mentioned above. As well as the Victorian Gown. And then there's this:

https://www.daz3d.com/penny-dreadfull-outfit-for-genesis-2-female-s  Flat out 1880s. Pretty much the era you are looking for.

Excellent! Thanks for the suggestions - I had the Vintage Rose for G3F, and by removing the opacity on many of the materials, it 'erases' a lot of the excess and slims it down to a more acceptable dress, but you can't have everyone wearing the same thing, right? ;)

  • Years back, RDNA had a V3 product called Subtle Elegance that was a very authentic female western outfit.  I still have it in my old runtime.  It doesn't appear that it migrated over to DAZ.  I do a lot of Victorian and American west period material and as others here have noted, kitbashing is pretty much what you have to do.

Make that last one a darker blue and you would be looking at a lot of the Amish and Mennonite women that live in eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. :)

They wear dark purple now too....lol. I see a lot of them when I go to the hospital to see the doc since the hospital is in Hershey ;)

Not to knock that wonderful genre called "Pulps", but the first thing this name conjures for me is what A. A. Milne said:

It was Lord Northcliffe who killed the penny dreadful: by the simple process of producing a ha’penny dreadfuller.

    Added to wishlist.

I was just looking at the Edwardian items, as well - curious as to why there are Edwardian accessories for G3F, but there doesn't appear to be an Edwardian suit for her, just for G2F. Seems odd ... At least the accessories include boots of the type I'm looking for.

DAZ, you're making it hard to explore Westworld!! ;)

Good observation, as Mennonite was what my Granny's folk where but in Appalachia but those communities soon moved westwards as productive farming in Appalachia is a no-go. You can scrape up about enough for one family on your homestead and that's it. It was always very precarious, substanance farming. Her uncle still spoke German somehow in a sea of English but he stayed with the church.

With a little playing, I put this together the other week. It's using the Trendsetter shirt and Cute3d Retro Skirt, then retextured to match. The scarf was added to conceal the cleavage from the shirt in this particular image.

The Edwardian accessories are intended to go with Vintage Rose (although it does not actually say so), but I imagine the accessories could work with other outfits as well.

Vintage Rose is available for G3F, here:

Just do the maintenance scenes. No need for clothing at all! :D

Well, okay, you need the uniforms for the Delos techs, but those are pretty close to this https://www.daz3d.com/mad-doctor-for-genesis-male but, otherwise, given the amount of sex and skin in the first season of WW, I'm not sure that DAZ's version is all that far off. :)  Now, Little House On The Prairie, on the other hand, might be a bit harder to pull off. :P

It comes from living in an area with a fairly large population of Amish, to be completely honest.

Okay, now I'm interested in Vintage Rose. I'm having my usual (lack of) luck with the store search; are there any texture sets for it? Also, I'll probably mostly use it with G3F, but does it convert well for G8F?

I rarely use the DAZ store to search for things like this.  Just type DAZ3d (name of Product) texture in google.  As it turns out, there a quite a few out there, including some freebies.   Here at DAZ there's https://www.daz3d.com/deux https://www.daz3d.com/vintage-noir ; https://www.daz3d.com/vintage-vert https://www.daz3d.com/vintage-floral-i ; and -https://www.daz3d.com/vintage-bouquet , and Out of Touch has some at Rendo.

There are a bunch - I think most are from the G2F version - most are for 3DL but some have iray mats too.

    Dunno about G8 conversion.

Edit: For some reason I didn't notice Cybersox's reply above.

    <headdesk>

I thought those names were familiar — I bought most of them way back when I got Vintage Rose G2F. Been a while since I last used any of them; here's a quick test render I just set up, Monique 6 with a few of the Edwardian Accessories, using one of the textures that has Iray settings.

Still going to get the G3F version, though, I'm not too keen on what the auto-convert does to skirts like this.

The G2F texture sets will fit the G3F version. I just checked with the G3F version and it will work with Deux (https://www.daz3d.com/deux) which was designed for the G2F version.

This is pretty much universal for all PC+ clothing, that refits for new models use the same UVs as previous ones, for example the Morphing Fantasy Dress.

Don't know whether this will post as it's a bit oversized. Vintage Rose top, Crinoline outfit skirt. I think I used shaders to tie things together. Probably not *really* accurate to any specific era, but a fairly plausible 19th century look.

If you have autofit addon utilities, Jan19 did a number of period-ish freebies for V4, and Chohole's site has a swarm of textures and kitbash directions for a lot of period stuff. Generally speaking, if it's a separate item, leave the skirt alone, don't autofit it. Just scale and tweak and parent it in place for the image. Obviously this doesn't work for animation.
