How to save a New character

I am creating a new character based on the G8F and needed to know how exactly do I save it so everything I have done like morphs, textures etc will be saved properly?. Thanks

I save my characters as subsets
Easiest way is save it as a Scene Subset then you can add it to any scene you like all ready to go. You can then try saving it as a Character Preset and then test it to see if everything has been saved.
Note the difference between Character and Scene Subset; a Character save covers only the G8F figure itself. It doesn't include any extra objects, such as eyelashes, eyebrows, hair, or clothes. A Scene Subset save will include other objects, so you can set up your complete character with hair, clothes, any props the figure's holding, etc., then save all that as one Scene Subset. Which you use depends on which you want to do.
Subsets are indispensible. If I have a scene with a ton of characters, I save the off camera characters as subsets. I may do subset saves on every scene. I make sure they are posed how I want them, delete them from the scene, and pan the camera around to where they were for the next scene, merge the subset, and they appear posed and clothed exactly how they were. It really speeds up the process of making lots of complex scenes with lots of characters.
Scene subsets it will be, thanks all!
I use both. :)
If you take a look at my Conall and Simi Gallery here, you'll see a lot of renders of the same characters. I usually start by getting the character's body shape, face shape, and skin surface the way I want the character to look. This I save as a Character Preset.
Then, when I'm starting to work on a new scene, I will the load Character Preset and add clothing, hair, makeup (if aplicable) and basic posing. I save that as a Scene Subset. Then I go to creating the scene they'll be in. Once I have my landscape, backgrounds, and rough camera framing, then I merge the Scene Subsets into the final scene.
By doing the Character Preset first, it saves me the time of having to remove clothing, weapons, and other things that don't apply in the new scene.
So the way I understand it, saving as a character preset loads your figure with the shape and skin like the base daz characters do. Scene subsets save everything such as props, poses, clothing, and anything else that makes up the scene.
Correct with one minor correction. When you save as a Scene Subset, you are given a dialog box to select what you want to save. For instance, I will often do a quick render of a character to make sure things look good in Iray. When I save the Scene Subset, I don't check the box for the camera I added because I don't want that to be included when I merge that character into a new scene. Other than that, you've got it figured correctly. :) Character Presets save the morphs and surface settings of the base figure. Scene Subsets can include other things like hair, clothing, etc.
