Either way, Titans was a book I grew up on and showed me great mature story-telling from Wolfman and Perez. It showed me great stories with young people I really bought into. To have that reduced to the Spaz and Greeble Snot and Booger Joke Hour is just insulting to the previous body of work for me. I hate that that is all people think of when they think of the Titans. Sorry, Hardcore Titans fanboy here. Please don't think I am saying you shouldn't enjoy it or you are any less for doing so. It means something different for me. So much so, I did not enjoy the simpler, cruder humor it has to offer. Oddly enough, I like that type of humor. I love Ren & Stimpy. I just don't like it with my Titans. :(
Oh, I understand. I wasn't defending the current "...Go" version, merely providing a possible reason why we don't have a continuation of the earlier adaptation. Of course, what I read may be complete BS and no one from the '02 version had passed away. There has been a general shift away from "straight" action/adventure cartoons on CN and the current "powers that be" seem to favor the 11 minute format which, normally, does not allow for drama or character development. Even "Justice League Action", which was seemingly tailored the curreny environment (11 minutes, more light hearted) has not aired for a couple of months. I would say it's been cancelled, but there's nbeen an even longer hiatus for "Steven Universe" which supposedly will return.
Sincerely,
Bill
Did, a couple days ago. Months and months with nothing followed by a week's worth of episodes at once are typical for that show.
Dumbing down cartoons is dumbing down kids. Challenge 'em, darnit. I agree with you, Bill. The format does not allow for drama o character development.
Okay, here is a final render for the FF... Hope you all like it. :)
Nice!
Very well done! It has a very book cover look to it, just add a little sky and a title on top and your name to the bottom.

Many thanks! :)
Thank you kindly, sir. :)
Thank you kindly, sir. :)
I've been working on some Marvel characters, here's my version of She Hulk. She really needs a movie, she's awesome ^_^
Swweeeeet! :)

I loved all 52 episodes of Justice League Action, as well as all of the "shorts" on Youtube. It sure looks cancelled, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. While I would prefer a 22-minute cartoon instead, I was amazed at how much actual story they managed to fit into each episode. I think they did show bits of character development throughout the series, but I don't think that really needs to be a focus for a cartoon. In a movie, or a novel, sure, but in episodic cartoons? I mean, 80 years of Superman stories, how much character development should I be expecting? That said, I was even more amazed at how much story and -- believe it or not -- character development was done with the three-minute shorts. The first Youtube episode, for example, has Batman and Wonder Woman offering membership to the Atom, who doesn't feel he's up to it; a parademon attack teaches him that he does have something to contribute -- action, humor and character development all wrapped up in two minutes.
In the last 50 years, comics have moved far, far away from being entertainment for kids. When I was a lad (cue nostalgic background music) I enjoyed reading the adventures of four-colour super-heroes and often imagined what it woudl be like. Nowadays, a kid opening your average comic is often hit with a hero who's married/divorced and has kids the age of the reader. The last thing I wanted when I was that young was to have my hero having marital issues.
In that vein, I finally had a few days off of work and figured I'd put together a few of my favourite teen group, the Legion of Super-Heroes, but back when they were, well, teens. Young teens. I read recently that the original Colossal Boy is pegged to be about 37 years old now.
I've kitbashed it pretty quickly, but I've kept mostly to original costumes (though I've left off some of the parts that don't work as well for me, like shoulder braids and fins). I've added leggings to one or two of the females, and in a few instances used newer versions of their outfits to be either less sexist or less bland. I've tried to keep the characters younger and opted for toonier, less realistic, the kind of look I'd love to see in a show like "Legion of Super-Heroes Action."

Long Live the Legion!

Here's my Hulk and She Hulk.
Very cute. :)
Here's my Hulk and She Hulk.
Thanks.
Can anyone tell me where to find a good posable/morphable Batman Cape? If so can I also get some rendered examples. I would like to do some renders with his cape spread out and with folds. I have a free one but it's no good for those kind of poses.
Working on updating the Golden Age set from JoeQuick now which has a great cape and cowl set in it. It is now for M4 but I am trying to update it to G3M and maybe G8M in the future. The original m4 set is available for free at ShareCG.
I have the M4 Golden Age set. That is the one I was talking about. It doesn't look good when you try to widen it out. The cape needs to drape over his solders, not behind. Perhaps, two verions of the cape. There is a cape and cowl for Genesis that does the "over the sholders", but it's dynamic, which I have no experience with. Also, the cowl looks too big (baggy) for the model. In addition, there are no pictures showing the kind of poses I'm interested in. I haven't found any pictures of Daz products, free or not, that have the poses I want to do.
If you can update the M4 set, that would be awesome. Especially if you can get it to do some of Batman's iconic cape poses from the comics. Maybe I'm asking for too much?
This is a pretty good example (just 1) of what I mean:

I might be able to do this with the Golden Age Cape. I may try.

I could try and draw the cape, but the whole lighting thing throws me off.
One of the things I am doing (with Joe's pending permission) is adding some morphs of my own. I have still not gotten his approval for updating all his stuff as of yet and I am working on his StreetLevel set for the Damien Wayne Robin right now. It may take a while as Golden Age is a HUGE set but I will see what can be done. :)
If you can get it done, You'll be my hero.
So can anyone point me in the right direction on a proper Reed Richards hairstyle. Grey on the sides and brown on top. I have tried combining hairstyles to ill effects at this point. Is there no hair style on DAZ store that has greying sides as material option?
I haven't seen one, but I haven't really looked. You could try modifing a chosen hair's textures in a paint software or add in the gray in post work. I've been mofifying textures lately. If you can't aford Photoshop, GIMP is free.
I have Photoshop, but I find that what happens when I try to modify the texture, it ends up making sections throughout the hair grey, not just the sides. Something to do with how the hair layers I think. Definitely trying to find a solution that isn't just airbrushing in Post. Would prefer to get it done in DAZ itself.
I'll be on the look out. Are you going for comic book style or realistic?
Gemini,
Do you have Carrara? I've been successful making a Nick Fury hairstyle by 3D painting or adding a new shading domain. I don't rememebr which. I can check when I get back to my home computer. I'll post a picture too.
I do have Carrara but have like 0 experience using it so far. LOL
I cheated on mine. I used Executive hair in a brown color then added Ricardo hair (which is bald on top essentially) and made it grey. I used morphs to pull the temples back on the executive hair and viola, greying at the temples. :) I often use two or more sets of hair for the right effect. :)
