Tonight I woke from a fitful sleep.... both my upper arms were incredibly sore. I figured the pain was due to having a fan running in the bedroom. We don't have air conditioners in the bedroom. I start feeling pain as soon as I turn on the fan. But I get really hot if i don't have the fan running. I woke, and tried moving around in the bed. I felt something large pop in my upper left arm, near the biceps. I just laid there for awhile, feeling depressed. I finally decided to get up. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep for awhile.
My pain has nothing to do with mice or trackballs. Remember, the left arm, not the right arm hurts to this extent. And I use a Logitech Trackman.
This is frustrating. I just typed a detailed answer to your message, and somehow it disappeared. The biggest pain is in my upper left arm, near the biceps muscle. I feel something pop, and feel extreme pain. It sure feels like bone moving to me.
I wish people would stop talking about ergonomic mice and trackballs in this discussion. I am right handed. I use a Logitech Trackman. The pain is in my left arm, not the right. Sorry, I haven't had much sleep, and I woke in pain.
I've been there with arm pain. I've learned to use my mouse on my leg instead of on the desk. That helps me, I know it won't help in your situation though.
I was getting, among other things, a grinding and snapping in my shoulder, along with a lot of pain. Ligament damage. Not a lot they could do, surgery wasn't a good bet on fixing it. Try to let it rest... great advice, doc. I just won't use my right arm for a few months. But I did learn not to lift it too high, or pick up heavy things. Exacaberating. And it was kind of vague - how did it happen? I haven't fallen, been hit, or anything like that for a while. But it can heal, so let it heal. I hope it's something like that for you. Painful but you can work at it.
I'm getting much better BUT the point of my story is the housework. It got out of control for me. So I prioritized. What do I want to get done otherwise first? I'm not having guests anytime soon, so picking up the house and dusting was low on my list. Cat boxes - really really high on the list. Clothing, pretty high on the list since it makes me feel better, as you say, to wear clean cloths. Just don't bite off more than you can chew.
For a little while it was cats, a load of laundry (fold shirts and let the rest get wrinkled), and kitchen. Then I was done for the day. Gradually I added more as my arm allowed until I feel I'm in control again. It helped to get rid of stuff I don't use or wear but haven't thrown out just because "it's not broken/worn out" quite yet. A closet full of towels, old shirts, dingy shoes. Scratched up pots and pans. Flower vases filling up shelves. All out. I still can't toss old birthday cards from my daughter. But all that came after I was able to move around without much pain.
Anyway I hope for the best for you. Do a load of laundry, point the fan just away over you on the bed so it isn't quit hitting you but you get some air movement anyway. (In Korea it's common knowledge a fan can kill you if you leave it on you all night). Wash your dishes and go outside and enjoy the sun - a little outside time does a lot for your mood.
Joe Webb, yeah, you're right. I've let everything go to the point where it's really bad. My plan is to get a handle on the major stuff over the weekend. Oh, but there is a bit of a "wrinkle" here today!
My brother lives downstairs. I hadn't seen him for around 30 years because I moved around a lot. I usually visit my brother on Wednesdays. We usually buy some strong malt liquor. My favorite is Mike's Hard Lemonade. I plan to get smashed, and start on the house cleaning tomorrow, or maybe Friday!
Ha! Thats the historically best way to start and end a big project! If it was good enough for the Sumerians, Egyptians, Romans, etc., etc., its good enough for you and your brother. Have fun.
Before I forget, I want to again thank everyone for your support. I'm a bit foggy-headed today and haven't started drinking yet! So pardon me for not mentioning each of you by name. I skimmed through that article for awhile, and was about ready to think I wasn't describing my symptoms properly. Yeah, Biceps tendonitis sounds the most accurate. Even then, I had to read for awhile before I saw the connection! That goes back to a problem I've often had during my life. I sometimes have difficulty understanding health issues when comparing my own physical experience to the symptoms described by others. I was well into my 50s before I totaly understood I'd been suffering from ocassional heartburn, but didn't know what it was really called!
This is typical of my experience with my current regular medical doctor. I describe a list of problems, and he basically attributes all the "complaints" to the fact that I'm fat. I read my medical report online, and there was no mention of my umbilical hernia. The doctor hasn't really touched my body or looked at me in more than a very cursive manner... He asks me to breathe, listens briefly to my heart, whatever. I ran into a different experience one day when I was seeing my sleep doctor, and mentioned my skin rash. The sleep doctor said I really needed to see a different doctor and have someone look at my skin rash. They arranged a rushed appointment with a physician's assistant. We connected very quickly, and I really felt she saw me as a person with a valid symptom, rather than someone whose problems are caused by being overweight. I just got overwhelmed and never followed through on that issue.
I need to try, again, to find someone to help me navigate all these issues, and help provide some two-way communication and translation so I can get to feeling better. Thanks again, everyone for your support. I wish you all the best!!

I see you and I use the same pharmacy. I prefer to get my prescription filled with Yuengling Light. When you mentioned the pop in your upper arm area, I was going to say it might be a tendon or something like that but I'm no doctor. I have some tendons that make noise when they move sometimes, but it's not painful. Definitely try to get a second opinion. Your doctor may be a good doctor, but a bad listener, and I guess that means bad doctor.
kitsumo, I mostly one drink once a week when I visit my brother downstairs!
In the past I've run into some similar symptoms when I was married and tried to help my wife with household chores. I experienced "tennis elbow," and got a brace which I used for awhile, then lost. Sometimes my wrist would cramp up, and my thumb would fold inwards, and stay like that for awhile. My (ex) wife showed no interest in my pain, but was continually mad at me when I finally decided my aging body just couldn't handle mowing the lawn, shoveling the driveway etc. I have many different problems including Degenerative Disc disease. My back has "gone out" from various experiences from the heavy grunt work to working with a full-sized computer case when I still built computers.
To make a long story short, it's been almost 20 years. I got a divorce, gave up household chores, got rid of my PCs all together, bought Macintosh computers, and converted my brother and father into using Apple products. Hopefully I'll get this arm problem fixed in short order, and then buy a new hard drive so I can get back to Making Art.
I'm not always good at expressing myself. Just know that I really value everyone here at DAZ. DAZ has been an important part of my artistic life from their very beginning, around 1999. I've often gotten lost in my efforts at "DAZ creativity." I've been away for months or years at a time. I always get a welcome reception. I care about all of you. If you remember that, you can can easily forgive any temporary confusiion or grumpiness I might send your way?1
Sounds like its a good thing she is an ex! When you see the new doctor make sure that you tell him what you just told us, that you have a problem with making the connection between your symptoms and what someone is describing. Also, there is no excuse to not give you a thourough going over whether you are fat or thin. Plenty of stuff happens to people who are fat that have nothing to do with their weight. The weight may make it worse but you still have to treat the underlying problem.
icedragonart, my ex-wife was actually the first girlfriend I ever had. I first met her in 1967-1968. My family had moved from Ohio to New Hampshire. We lived in Salisbury, New Hampshire, where at the time they had 500 cows, and 600 people. Something like that. Dodi was one of 3 girls who found me interesting. We lived in a small town, and our hub of commerce was the Crossroads Country, Gas Station and Post Office, all in one! We lived across the street from the store, where the young teens often hung out. The girls found me interesting, and sent me "notes, or fan mail." I joined the church which was next door to our house, in order to hang out with the girls. Girls had never found me interesting before. I managed to make a fool out of myself while I worked my way through 2 sisters and their cousin.
Thirty-three years later, I was in Florida, and connected with Dodi via Classmates.com. We hit it off very quickly, and I was soon on a plane to Maine to see her. Let's just say we had a good night, and I proposed to her the next morning. In retrospect, I was a mess, and the marriage was a mistake. We held on for about 5 years and decided we cared enough about each other as friends that we needed to end the marriage in a friendly way. I never totally got over the loss, even though I always knew it was the best for both of us. I waited almost 20 years before moving back to Minnesota. My family had lived in MN from the 1970s to the 1990s. My Dad's current wife had kids there from a previous marraige. Yeah, my ex wife was cruel at times. But she helped me get through a difficult time. She even helped me for almost 3 years after we got divorced. I knew she was with someone else by then, and told her I had to let her out of my life totally. I couldn't bear the thought of knowing she was with someone else.
Last night has to be one of the strangest, weirdest nights I've ever spent in bed! I was literally dancing between the sheets with joy over some unidentified new discovery. Ok, I had one strong beer, and I was very overcome by the hot and muggy weather.
Yesterday I had left my brother's apartment and returned to my own place. David called, and I had to go back down to get some stuff. The heat & humidity almost killed me. I dragged myself back to my place. I went to bed a bit early, hoping to get some sleep. I literally passed out, and woke awhile later. I was feeling so great, that I turned on the tv, and the fan, and didn't care when I fell asleep.
I woke again, still feeling giddy, and dancing in bed a little. What the heck?! I'm feeling a lot better. I'm able to lie on either side, and fall asleep. I still feel a bit of pain. But it's nice to have finally gotten some sleep.
I am just a little concerned about the manic behavior, so I decided just to get up for awhile, watch some boring tv, and drink some 7UP. That tastes great right now! I'll go back to bed in a bit!

What Carrie58 found sounds very much like what you are experiencing - this is what she found.
Shoulder cartilage tear (glenoid labrum tear)
A cartilage tear can cause a number of symptoms that include:
Biceps tendinitis
The symptoms of biceps tendinitis can vary and include the following:
