ISO: Simple Bow & Arrow prop with aiming pose

I'm fiddling around with a Victorian-era archery scene but having trouble finding the right prop and matching pose.

What I'm looking for is a simple bow suited for the period and a basic stand-and-aim pose for it. I'm using G2F because she has all the pretty gowns, but if the bow and arrow are smart propped I can probably adjust the pose if it's for other figures.

Most of my bow/arrow sets are fantasy-related, or otherwise not historical-looking enough, and none come with poses beyond a hand grip.

The closest I have is a Yew Long Bow (free prop) that comes with poses for V3/M3. It's not bad but not quit right, though I can probably work with it if there isn't anything else.

Attaching what I have so far. Suggestions appreciated!

This bow looks pretty generic, and it's for G2M, so hopefully the poses wouldn't be too hard to use.

    Thanks for replies!

The G2M pose set looks pretty good, though the bow isn't quite what I'm looking for. Adding it to the wishlist for now.

I guess I'll stick with what I already have. Adjusting poses with interacting smart props can be a pain and I was hoping to find a holy grail of sorts. As I don't use weapon props much, I wasn't sure if I'd missed something. And store searches can be hit-or-miss for me.

The free bow is the closest I've seen to those used in the Victorian images. It's a little large on loading but it does come with several morphs -- and the read me file has a bunch of posing instructions about where arrows and fingers go. Helpful, as I've never done archery.

This looks closer to an english long bow.

https://goo.gl/images/vbhaEh is a great actual photo for you to reference. Three changes I suggest, tip of the arrow goes on the left side of the bow. Back of arrow is held between 1st and 2nd fingers (urs looks like 2nd and 3rd) and consistent draw is made by "anchoring" the draw hand to the cheek. In the linked photo you can see how her skin is even pushed up a bit as she hold her hand tight to her face. FWIW you move the BOW as you sight along the arrow to adjust for windage, distance and terrain elevation.

Hinterland is a texture set. The bow model is part of a product called Herne, and I'm not sure that is still in store. Also, Deerstalker is a pose set for the same model.

may as well add that one but you'll need different arrows

For a bow and arrow prop alone it would be a good idea to check ShareCg or other sites with freebies.

There are a load of archer outfits which include them, but having to buy something that may well be for a different figure that you never use is annoying.

    Again, thanks for the suggestions!

I have over 150 M4 outfits but don't have Herne. frown

JazzyBear, your posing advice matches that with the free bow's readme file, so I will work on that and then finish filling out the scene and re-render.

I forgot I had Archery for Gia 6. While I don't have Gia, I'm using Olympia 6, who's probably pretty close. It even has a basic aiming pose like the V3 one I'd originally used.

I also have 3DU's Ranger outfit for G2F, but the bow, while very pretty, is too fantasy-looking...which is pretty much the case for every other bow/arrow set I have.

Hope to see your finished re-render here! Or even WiP.

Same here. Before this thread, I didn't even know Victorian era women's archery was a thing.
