Low ponytails/single braids - less looking, more Wondering/discussing

EDIT -What I was wondering about is why the Specific Elements - that is, very low on the head/Nape of the neck were not more common among Braids and pony tail styles. Most of the ponytails suggested so far have been higher than I'm talking about - I'm talking with the tie lying against or below the nape of the neck - and almost every braid that has been brought up has either also started too high, or else been very long. Sometimes both.
I appreciate all the suggestions, but 1) I'm not really looking, I own many. Just only a few actually meet what I'm wondering about - a single back tail that doesn't stick out from the back of the head at all. Something a person could sleep on without having a lump under their head/neck. 2) very few of said suggestions actually fit that description. And I was wondering if there was a Technical Reason for why, or a Marketing one.
This isn't a complaint so much as a curiosity question, but over the years I've occasionally wanted to do a render where either a low ponytail or a single braid down the back (that isn't past the butt cheeks) that starts at the nape of the neck was the "best" hairstyle for what I wanted to convey about the characters... and my options are limited.
Generally I just move on, find another hairstyle that works and keep going, but it has got me curious as to why these are uncommon/rare, if it's a technical thing or a market thing, or just a no one who makes hair likes those styles thing.
I mean, I can completely see the technical difficulties - especially for a braid - I'm guessing having to rig said low pony or braid starting basically at the neck bone causes some interference problems. And I also get that having the braid over the shoulder is softer/sexier, and so more marketable. It was just something I was curious about.

That one starts in the middle of the back of the head, not at the nape of the neck.
That one has bangs. The ideal one would have the entire hair pulled back to the nape of the neck, like this:
I like braids myself, back in the V4 days there was one that had a braid that started at the nape of the neck and had a braid that was interchangeable and had different lengths you could use from short to floor length, I used the heck out of that one, but it is VERY dated, or at least last I saw it it seemed that way.

But I agree with you I would like some more braided hairstyles, especially tightly braided hair, not these loose ones you see now and then, They are great for humans, but when you want to make an elf, their ears are completely hidden or sticking out through the hair.

Anyone old enough to remmeber how Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere and the Raiders wore his ponytail? It was low, at the nape of his neck. I don't especially want the bangs he wore, but the ponytail definitely. Too bad I can't find a picture of the back of his head. Anyway, I would love to see a male hair like that, as well.

The neftis hair I recall having problems with getting it to pose correctly.
Though when I posted this, I was hoping more for some insight/speculation on why nape of the neck low styles aren't as common. :)

It's not a braid but a low ponytail at the base of the neck. It's fairly decent actually, much better than the promos imo.
Ali over on Mankahoo has several rigged braid hairs. Plenty of ponytails as well, quite a few of those are rigged as well.

That's a French braid. They're a pain to sleep on. And they start actually at the hair line on the front of the head.
That's definitely more like it. Too bad there aren't any freebie hair figures like that.
