Complaint: Been nursing a very sprained ankle for a week. The pain isn't that bad now, but the swelling and bruising is still very bad. Just got off the  walker and onto a cane. Says a bit about me that I possess my own walker I guess.

Non-complaint: Still not dead yet. smiley

    Glad for that!

I am waiting for my ride home.  I am cold. Brrrr!

If I run to the lady’s room now, my ride will be here sooner than if I stay sitting here waiting for them.

That sounds a bit like the logic we used to use when waiting for a bus. THey had changed the rules so smoking was not allowed on the buses,   so Murphy's law said that if you sparked up a ciggy the bus would arrive.

...if it seemed the bus was taking too long to arrive, my mum would light up a ciggie and within less than a minute the bus would arrive.

So for a Summon Bus (or Tram) spell, a ciggie is the material component and lighting it is the required gesture.

rant of the week:  An online game needs 45 minutes to download an update.  I wonder if their download server is slow or the files are huge?  My internet connection speed appears to be fine.

Who is frank0314?  I thought it was someone here, one of the mods or vendors, but I can't find him in the list of members.  It's his birthday and I haven't been able to wish him a happy birthday all day because I can't find him.  Wherever you are, frank, Happy Birthday!

What are small service dogs for?  I see two ladies with service dogs.  One big but other one is small at least compared to the big one.  They are not seeing eye dogs but service dogs.  I think it is rude to ask why they have service dogs.  They left so I cannot ask anyway.

I am trying to update Adobe, but getting an error that dynamiclinkmanager needs to be closed.  I do not see anything called that in task manager.

Service dogs What are small service dogs for?  I see two ladies with service dogs.  One big but other one is small at least compared to the big one.  They are not seeing eye dogs but service dogs.  I think it is rude to ask why they have service dogs.  They left so I cannot ask anyway.

Service dogs can be for a variety of reasons.  If they are acompanying a member of the blue light services or the armed forces they could be search and rescue, dog's traiend to find explosives or drugs and such like or of course K9 dogs.

The term is also used over your side of the pond for what are called Assistance dogs over here. Guide dogs,  seeing eye dogs for the blind, hearing dogs for the deaf, medical assistance dogs for several different conditions, dogs are even trained to do small chores for there disabled or semi disabled owners, such as emptying a washing machine, or fetching the mail. Some dogs can detect when an epileptic is about to have a seizure and there are Medical Detection dogs, specialist dogs trained to detect the odour of human disease.

While searching for info on new releases, saw your post. I saw a woman at Homegoods, with a dog identical to one of ours (3.5 lb yorkie) I struck up a conversation with her. Hers was for emotional support which requires an official letter from a psychologist or a mental health professional on their stationary. Some DIY people make a patch, stick it on the cat, and hope not to get caught. There are two categories of dogs used for health issues. A service dog is trained for a specific task. They help disabled people live more independently by performing that task. Some can detect asthma, seizures, low blood sugar, pick up papers etc. Often this training takes two years prior to client placement and petting a service dog is highly discouraged and the owners are told to disallow petting. It's a work dog. It can cost more than a new car. A therapy animal, unlike the service dog, can be a rescue dog, a cat, a parrot or even a pig. The therapy animal is strickly for emotional support and for those determined by a psychiatrist or psychologist to have mental issues. My husband was abruptly permanently diabled in 2010, after a surgery mistake which led to physical complications, and after a second surgery to fix things failed, he couldn't walk independently, and became depressed and suicidal. Although he felt a burden to me, the dogs depended on him and helped his self esteem etc and actually bark at 5 am every morning when his medication is due. I wish we had one that could pick up things for him ;) but to train one is about 25K and his needs are to varied for a focused task oriented service dog. The woman, I mentioned at the beginning of this post, the one I met in Homegoods, was attacked by a large dog, at a well known Pet store franchise while trying to save her yorkie from its jaws. She and the dog underwent surgeries. The dog did not make it. Part of her therapy was a new dog. When I get overwhelmed I have a drink but unfortunately I can't use the alcohol as an emotional therapy tax write off, but if I become an alcoholic and get carpal tunnel I might qualify for a service dog. surprise

i want a ron weasley hat.  think it's passe` nowadays but i still like it

goin for eye inj today. x.x  hate it, but beats the alternative.

is also close to the main street in greenlawn, could check a couple stores for a ron hat.
and the subway sammich shop. yumma.  flat bread, ham and swiss warmed, i get the black olives and cucumbers on it  no dressing, lol, save a few gordo grams.

didyooknow insulin pen needsles are on amazon?  i bought a box of 100, 9 bucks.  cvs been charging me 40 bucks for a box 100.  even if there a few duds in the box, so worth it.

my primary care dr office called, they received the medical records forms from disability, they said i need an appt for them to do the form. makes sense i guess, doctors aren't gonna bill the state for the time.

turns out the reason i have to go to another county for the physical is cause suffolk doesn't have an eye doctor.  can that be true?  suffolk county NY has plenty of eye doctors, i've been to a few of them, County really can't afford to hire an eye doctor?

...here in Portland, the ruling of what constitutes a "service" animal seems to be rather blurred to the point of being easily abused.  If such an animal is designated so by a medical professional, it needs to have some kind of official and easily identifiable collar or vest and be registered with the city/county as such. The only dogs I see wearing such vests on buses, trams, in food marts, and even restaurants are the traditional guide dogs which have been allowed in such areas for decades.  Without some form identifying marker, it is impossible to tell if the animal is a registered service one, or just a pet someone want's to bring aboard or into an establishment.

...yesterday afternoon as I was heading out to my weekly gaming session I felt a sense of deja vu.  The sun was orange/red in colour, the sky pretty much cloudless but not perfectly blue, and there was a slight smoky haze about the area.  The difference, it was in the 40s, not 90s most of the trees had shed their leaves, and I realised this was smoke from the Southern California wildfires nearly 1,000 miles away.

Tried to take a picture of it on the phone but was on sitting on the wrong side of the tram, and by the time we made it to a bridge where i had a good view, the sun had slipped behind the West Hills.

...neighbourhood Safeway put up a big sales display of holiday wrap in the front of the store over the weekend.  They reconfigured the layout for the self checkouts to set it up which has created a serious bottleneck in the front of the store as there is now only one opening to get to them instead of three.  Crikey, not even T-Day yet.

...looking out the window, the haze is thicker today.  Thought it might be fog as it is overcast and we've had a few foggy mornings/evenings, so checked the local weather service sites and there is a "moderate" "unhealthy" air quality alert as well as confirmation it is smoke from the wildfires that is causing the hazy conditions.
