How to turn a high resolution object into a lower resolution object

Does anyone know of any tricks I can use to do this? I'm trying to figure out ways to shorten the amount of time it takes for my videos to render. there's a product called Scene Optimizer that I am planning on purchasing. It seems to me, that based on the product description, this product would do the trick. Can anyone think of any other ways to do it?

  • I render with 3Delight, BTW.

If you mean the geometry resolution, I don't think that product does that except to turn down the subdivision on objects that are using it.

There is this product to reduce geometry (if it still works these days? Haven't tested lately): https://www.daz3d.com/decimator-for-daz-studio

But I don't know that reducing geometry resolution would speed up renders much...

[I wrote the below before seeing your 3delight reference, so maybe ignore:

Scene Optimizer's reference to "tremendous render time savings" has the assumption that your scene requires so much RAM that you aren't currently able to use your GPUs on them at all.

The one time I played with animation and Iray I just limited each frame to a tiny number of samples. It finished but it looked like garbage, hehe]

  • I own the decimator! I thought it only worked on Genesis figures, but you helped me realize that you can use it on other things too. Thx : )
