Hey, I'm looking for an extremly realstic female character from any base, prefereably G8F.

Please link some very realistic characters!

I would advise that you search the store yourself.
People tend to have their personal biases on this subject
that may be  quite different from yours.

And frankly when you reject their suggestions, a predictable
"discussion" ensues that inevitably devolves into a heated debate about
cultural female beauty standards ,ideal body mass index, etc
often culminating in a locked thread.

    This!

I am a huge fan of BJ because his models are having that girl next door look and still look beautifull.

Same goes for the other two.

If you look at (AND THIS IS NOT MEANT AS CITISISM) https://www.daz3d.com/digital-touch models. While they do look beautifull they all have that "veronica secrets model vibe". And yes one could argue that those woman excist too (and they would be right) i am more of a fan of the girl next door models. Thought these models do have a purpose off course. I am also a big fan of https://www.daz3d.com/marcius models who has a bit of a mix in his models but most of them have the more idealized bodyshape (but this is personal preference of course).

It's not just a matter of having a realistic character. It's also a matter of getting the background right (perspective, angle), getting the lighting right (color, tone, shadows), getting the pose and expression right, getting the clothes and hair right (texture, materials, folds, strands, dust specks). And having the rig to actually handle all that. And then there's post processing (photoshop) as well.

With some effort, an "okay" base character can look near lifelike. With lack of effort, even the best and most realistic model will turn out like a lifeless mannequin doll.
It can easily take a year of experience (if not more) to figure out all the necessary parameters to make a perfectly realistic image. By that time further improved models and techniques will have been released, and just by keeping an eye on posts and new releases here during that time, you'll know about them. Though it will still be hard to put them all together.

    wise words.

To the OP; all can do, with a few obviously stylised characters. Of course my definition of stylised could differ from yours; which just goes to show how important your own opinion is.

The character that is the most realistic that I've found and use a lot is Mabel. I have a feeling this won't be the epiphany you're looking for.

And all the answers you get are going to be completely subjective. You're better off looking at them all. LOL

This is insanely difficult to answer.  From my perspective, I can only enumerate many of the issues leading to non-realism:

    • Too much symmetry.  Real humans are asymmetrical.
    • "Detail imbalance".  A great example is the game Rise of the Tomb Raider.  While Lara's skin looks great, the hair looks awful in comparison.  If everything is normalized, I think things turn out to be better.
    • Speaking of hair, I do like the recent fiber-mesh style brows.  But hair in general is severely lacking realism.  There are a couple in the store thought that I've seen with finer strands and even flyaways that look very good.   You'd probably want a real hair system though; and that is typically only found in some high-end 3D applications.
    • Subtle details are missing such as fine hairs.  There are some add-ons that can add fine hairs and other tiny details.
    • Eyes.  Very difficult to get realistic eyes.  There are some great add-ons though in the store that really come close.

It will also greatly depend upon what resolution you wish to render at.  It would be far easier to pass off a 3D model in say a background shot as real as opposed to an extreme closeup.

You'll probably also need to do a decent amount of post-work as well.

As an aside, I've seen some photographers and retouchers take things to the extreme; making things symmetrical, creating flawless skin, etc.  You wonder why they don't just do their work in 3D.    I do believe though that we'll probably see the day where these will coverge.  Kinda scary though, IMO.

I've wondered for example about the cover art of Nicki Minaj' album "Queen" whether it's a real photograph or just a render with her face photoshopped on. Or perhaps even her face is part of a 3D model.

All depends on preference of the artist.  Also, how one achieves realism can be quite different from another and various render engines are used.  I prefer natural, no make up on all my models, cept one.  I'm not even close to creating realism, but from my experience and opinion, I favor Virtual_World characters wink

There is a nun outfit, hijab, African head dress, various hats - hide the hair, slightly blur the render, zoom in for a close headshot, and use dramatic lighting that creates high-contrast renders and the realism is much easier to give the illusion of and for any of the normally proportioned human characters you care to choose from any generation of DAZ characters if you update the materials to use the Genesis 8 default material settings for humans.
