My little attempt at mixing the babies. Mervin the Alien and Baby Sam from Small World for Caryn 8 HD and Tobyn 8 HD. Mervin is at 100% and Baby Sam is at 72% full body.

    He's a keeper. :)

I'm still trying to split the head and body. The only thing that's worked at all so far is BenAlive's tutorial with the Dev kit head dformer. Even then, I'm still trying to get the right size to make the morphs at because the babies are scaled and even when scaled up to 100% they are not as tall as the Genesis figure they're morphing, so I had to go a little bigger. Still adjusting. In the end still not sure if it's going to work.

I don't have Baby 8, so I can not try this myself, but one option that might work would be to dial the baby in at 100%, then set the figure scale back to 100%, and export the obj at base level. Then load this morph with Morph Loader Pro. Then use X-Morphs on this morph. You are best to only create a head only morph, as any body only morph will not trigger all the JCM to help with the bending, but with a head only morph, you can dial this in at -100% to get a body only morph.

Thanks! He needs a couple of minor tweaks, but I love how he turned out. :)

It's like E.T. and the miners from Galaxy Quest had a baby.:)

  • Reminds me of the little aliens from Galaxy Quest :-)

Looks great, KM - the rim light really helps. Mixing in these babies is more fun than I'd have guessed, and I like your combo very much! How is it that I missed Mervin? Seems like the type of thing I would buy . . .

He's a great little alien. I snapped him up the first day he came out. I love his skins. I think you could do some amazing things with him. :)

She is super cute smiley Thank you for showing this.

  • It seems that Baby8 isn't really a baby - but it makes really cute post-baby children when mixed with other things.  Unfortunately (for me), where I would have totally snapped up a stand-alone baby figure, I cannot personally justify the cost of Baby8 with all the other packages required to make these cool/cute/adorably-ugly things.  I really mean the unfortunate part, too, because the last page or so of pictures was totally awesome :-)

Overall it is not that bad. I think the issue with Babies 8 is not much with the figure itself, but the name. If they were called Genesis 8 Toddlers or infants, everyone would had welcomed the figure a lot better. But the name is not as appealing. Although technically a "baby" is from newborn to 4 years of age, our minds default to newborns. And I believe that's what throwing us of (or at least that what was throwing me off.) But I got to embrace it and I am glad Daz gave us a different type of figure than the typical teen or adult figure. And the fact that is compatible with other Gen 8 figures and not a stand-alone is a big plus. So you can make a variety of morph changes from the base figure.

Hmm... maybe the problem is more linguistic.  Up here in my corner, 'baby' is usually only for little ones that can't walk.  After that it's toddler, or pre-school/pre-k.

I don't own any other G8 figures or, obviously, morphs, so there is really no advantage to it for me, as I have need or desire for G8 (Floyd and Mabel are only vile tempters!)  A stand-alone would, strangely, have worked out better.  I'm weird, though, and I know it :-)

What is the official name of this product. Is it Tobyn/Caryn 8? Or is it Baby 8?
