    .

The only use that I can see for them personally would be for "creepy baby halloween" images.

Looking at the rest of Mechasar's store (Brain Eater, Worms, Slime etc) it occurs to me that maybe I missed the point when I first saw the baby and it's actually meant to be a horror story.

  • Wow, those are some really creepy ugly babies. Get Baby Luna instead, she actually looks like a baby.

I've been asking for new babies for a long time, and am happy to see them here. They're in my cart. Just waiting for the baby accessories price to be fixed.

With as anemic of item and pose support she has for the price she and her bundles are? And the fact the majority of her items are Poser-only and barely work in Daz? And no iRay textures? No thanks. You’re flushing money down the toilet there.

Anyways, I’m torn because I’ve been wanting kids, but the base figures are just... hmmgh. I’ll have to see until some PAs can work magic on the characters.

Yeah, I'm really happy that we get Genesis 8 babies! :D

The Baby Accessories product is included in the pro bundle if you're getting that. :) But yeah, if not then you'll have to wait on a price adjustment for the accessories.

I'll leave them small as attachments because they're disturbing imo. lol

Agree, that second one is weird to the max!

Yikes!!! Triple Yikes! I've been reading the "creepy" comments and thinking, "C'mon they aren't that bad! A bit weird, maybe, and not what I hoped for, in a baby model." * Then I make the mistake of clicking on Divamakeup's Mr. Woo mat "baby"--and I'm ready to grab my Labrador and make like Shaggy & Scooby! Seriously, Divamake, if I had the Mr. Woo base, I'd probably be begging you to let me use it for a Sith Lord render.

*Probably the reason I don't find the bases as creepy as some of you, is that the Uncanny Valley usually doesn't bother me much.

I bet that baby boy has no pee-pee, right?

And since the bodies are otherwise so similar at that age, I don't see the need for 2 different bases.

I may put them on my wishlist, I haven't decided yet.

Ummm it's only creepy because it's got 50% of an OLD MAN dialled in. lol With an old man's mats on top of it to boot. That would make any baby model "creepy".

The Genesis Baby is no longer available though, so that is one of the reasons people have been asking for a new one.

I'm not going to link to it, but there's an OK morph 'baby genesis' on Sharecg....

I have to agree with most of the forum sentiment. The default little guys/girls look no less creepy than Milbaby.

A lot of the clothes and props look excellent, and some of the PA morphs look OK, but the default 'babies' are offputting... I'm having difficulty seeing the potential past Chuckie twins, episode 8.

The Sixus baby I already have (and only Angel Wings Amanda character makes it look cute or worthwhile), 2 Genesis babies and the K4 one for long shots...

Daz aught to have recruited Angel Wings over for this endevour, all her kids are absolutely adorable.......

I thought that too, about the two different bases. I think trying to give the boy a look that distinguishes him from his sister has given him a kind of grown-up gangland thug vibe. I feel mean about the horror story comment now I've had my coffee. You could probably do something with the babies if you didn't have them looking directly at the camera - I think a lot of their creepiness comes from the fact that they've got an adult's stare on their faces rather than the unfocused look that really young babies have got. I might buy the girl baby later. More coffee needed first :)

  • Like, do not get me wrong: I’m happy they’re doing something different for a change and frankly, *age appropriate* little kids clothes and poses are something that’s been sorely missing in the Daz ecosystem. Those, I will support.

The base figures probably could have used more fine tuneing. But OTOH, Genesis 8 does have no shortage of body and face morphs, so if one isn’t lazy, they could attempt to morph these two to something more to their liking.

Ah, I see. It is in the pro bundle (or Bundle of Joy). Seems like it's cheapest to buy that plus all the DAZ Originals that aren't in it. A little confusing with everything clumped together on the page.

Are the boy and girl different other than their chins?  Are the textures different?

  • gitika1gitika1 Posts: 948

I am disappointed that the price of a bundle is considerably more that the last 3 G8 Bundles on their release.  No purple banner for loyalty either.

I actually bought most of the baby content- thanks pas! But for a store that really Focuses on delivering cute they really didn’t do a good job on the head or bod of the baby. The head is very jug shaped and it looks like a small fat adult with Michelin tire arms and legs and I am not sure why they gender split this one. The boy morph doesn’t add anything to the feel of the base shape and since it’s genless one baby would really be enough...but I guess if you want to blend him with other characters... but still make it one character.

fortunately there is baby Rosie at rendo.... who looks more infant like to me. And bonus she can wear Genesis 8 baby’s outfits.

You do know Luna has support over at the big "R" store and you can easily make some Daz clones to add auto fitting support to the myriads of items here. The Sixus1 Genesis 8 female baby has probably as many packages available as this pair here (plus it's already Daz auto fitting compatible) some of them quite cute, some of them other worldly or scary.

I also think the lack of a deal kinda sucks. With other bundles stuff is actually free... with this deal its just s discount. Coming this soon after March madness it’s a bit anticlimactic to ge a discount.

  • Matt_CastleMatt_Castle Posts: 2,676

Right - so, because the main bundle only counts as one item in the deal, to get the best prices, you have to buy all the items separately (at least once that presumably erroneous price on the accessories has been fixed), and therefore not count as owning that bundle for any future deals or banners that rely on it...

... I hope customer service are going to be okay about being repeatedly pestered to add the bundle to people's accounts who've picked up all the pieces separately.

It is strange that baby accessories cost as much as the bundle and the bundle costs more than the other items together if bought separately....what kind of strange monkeyshine is going on?

Purchase of 11 Baby 8 items to make a bundle is $10 more than Mr. Woo Pro, less products, and no bonuses for the purchase.

  • I thing it is strange that the bundle is at the bottom and not at the top like other figures or that the isn't bundle buyer's recognition with a banner...
  • Wonder if any of our monster makers going to use these as bases for various aliens and the mutant babies from It's Alive movies, or gargoyles or other fanatsy horror scifi baby creatures there's a lot of them - oh and creepy doll babies

Odd request, but ok - I'm game. lol

First one is Tobyn 50% Mr Woo 50% with Tobyn's mats.

Second one is Tobyn 50% Mr Woo 50% with Mr Woo's mats.

I'll leave them small as attachments because they're disturbing imo. lol

Actually, the first one isn't too bad, just looks like an angry chubby kid to me. haha

The second one looks like a hobbit or beardless dwarf.

  • Okay, I've bought every Genesis 8 product thus far.  Even ones that a lot of you didn't love like Bridget 8 and Lee 8.  I can't bring myself to buy this just yet.  First, I don't know if it is a true Genesis 8 Pro bundle but the main reason...there's something that looks a little off with these babies.  Like really off.

These babies look more like they should be morphs of some kind instead of the base model.  While we need babies in the mix for sure, I'm thinking I may pass on this.  Maybe seeing more things done with it will make me change my mind?

I appreciate the "build your own bundle" option. There are several new DO baby items that are not in the bundle. That allows some flexibility in the 11 DO items to be purchased. Right now, my cart is empty. I'm waiting to see if users post images the make me want to buy. I wonder how much future support there will be for these baby bases. I still feel burned by the Dog 8 release that had implied we would get additional breeds, like German shepherd. Those breeds still haven't shown up in the store many months later.

I didn’t think it was too bad from other deals, minus the free content they’ve been doing, but for 73.65 I got the bundle and 11 other items, I don’t think they was too bad, especially since there were all new releases.  I agree though I’m not sure I’m a fan of the base baby morphs, I’ve been hoping for a baby for a while but I guess I was expecting a more adorable and realistic character but the addons look great

  • caravellecaravelle Posts: 2,514

It's nice that Daz is finally making some baby figures. But sorry, this is just my personal opinion - the basic figures are even uglier than the Genesis baby morph, especially the white ones. The black babies still look somewhat cute and babylike. The proportions of both figures are not right again, e.g. the heads are too big and the hands are much too small in relation to the arms. The legs, on the other hand, are too long if you assume that these are newborns. And no newborn baby is so fat. But I agree with cherpenbeck that PA characters often are more realistic than the original figures. E.g. 'Ella' looks much better than the base figure; she's really sweet.

I do think these are more aesthetically appealing than some of the other options on the market, although I think Sixus1's G8F baby at Rendo still comes the closest to that newborn grumpy old man look, had the cutest addon character-Amanda-and delivered the most useful tiein item for me (Nativity set).

With blank expressions, Tobyn and Caryn look okay to me in the promos. It's some of the expression addons that really make them look off in the promos, so I would say buy those carefully.

The basic skin textures seem okay, and kudos on the more correct-than-usual foot soles and hand palms for the black skin, but it looks like they didn't pull off the surface settings as well as they might have.

Um.  Hmmm.  Well ... if I want to make a horror movie render, these will work nicely ... I'm sure I could find a good carving knife model somewhere for Chucky ....
