Underwater 3D HDRI set

in The Commons
I was making an underwater scene and i did an HDRI for it. So i decided to share the freebie and possibly to make my first DazStudio product to sell (A set of various underwater HDRIs, like rivers, oceans, deep waters, etc)
But this is my first time making something like this, i wonder how many HDRIs are good enough for a set like this? Do you think this looks good enough to be in sale?
All this renders have no postwork or aditional lighting except a little caustics gel effect in the figures.

I think they're quite nice. I've been looking for something like this for awhile along with some really nice kelp and underwater plant items, specifically for nice clear underwater renders that I can add some of my own effects to, depending on how I want to use them in a scene. Love the lighting effects as they hit the skin, too. If you think you can package and prep it up to submit it, I say go for it. Just do some really great promo work as that's all they want to see at first to decide as far as I've heard. Study what other HDRI packs include and if you're up to setting up a set, then give it a go. In the end, you'll have the experience under your belt. Always a good thing.
Looks very good. Would love to get the freebie... ;-)

Here it is!
Thank you guys, i will work to make this set possible!
What does this mean, a little caustics gel effects postwork on the figures? You have to be very careful when presenting a lighting product that you don't mis-represent the product. If you are meaning that the light splashes on the skin on the female figures was added in postwork, you would need to be very clear about that in the description. The first thing a customer is going to do is wonder why your people have beautiful caustic shimmers on them, that look like they were produced by the light set, and they can't reproduce the results with what was in the package. The only post work I have ever done on any of my lighting sets was to fix minor poke through on clothing.
That said, what you have looks good and sellable. Good luck!
thank yoo
carrara cpmes with an ocean primitive, for caustics theres a caustic checkbox and can save the caustics alpha mask.
Got it! Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, that is helpful but sometimes pretty hard to get the desired effect on figures. Alpha mask can be easily customized.
Wow ! excellent, thanks for sharing
I would definitely purchase something like this. One thing that has stopped me in the past from doing underwater is good lighting options.
That's looking really nice! I'd definitely buy something like this. Before you present it to Daz for possible sell you'll want to go over it very carefully and make sure you get rid of any lines or patches. Daz is a stickler for lines and seams. So you'll want to go in and get it as clean as possible first. A single seam where one end of the HDRI meets the other end is likely ok, but smaller scattered lines or patch spots would need to be blended in.
I wish you luck with this - it looks like it would be a great product with a little bit of tweaking and clean up. :) And definitely something I'd be interested in purchasing if it ends up in the store!
Tried it. No postwork involved.
That's very helpful, thank you! I will work on this.
Would be nice to see your test!! :D
Oh, did I miss the free version? Just went there today and didn't see a download button.
It's a little button:
It is still there; but sometimes the download button seems to get covered over by the ads. Try to catch it quick before the ads cover it.
Thanks Namtar3D.
Thank you so much for this. I think if you did a few more of these and created some caustic lights to go with you would have a really good selling product!
I would be good to have a few water surface texture for use on DS primitive planes available so we could do renders like the Little Mermaid looking up through the water at her prince and so on.
Why yes, yes it is.....
Thx very much for this!!
I'll check it out, seems very usable in the examples. I like it's brightness, underwater set-ups tend to be quite dark.
I think because other setups are intended to be in deep waters. This one is suposed to be in crystal clear, shallow waters.
Another try out. Quick render. No afterworks. THANKS for this freebie BTW
Env intensity down to 0.21
Lighting resolution up to 136
Ground shadow intensity up to 1.75
Green Rim light added at 2, 3, 4, and 12 o'clock positions
The major problem I have is the blurriness of the ground in comparison to the hand of the mermaid. As if the mermaid is copy pasted to the HDRI. Is there a way to fix this? It seems to exist in all HDRIs I tried.
Oh! i was don't know it could look like this! Nice!

I think your problem comes from bloom filtering, try to turn it of in Render Settings tab/filtering
Here with bloom off:
Here with bloom on:

Thank you. Yes, my bloom filter is always off in all my renders. I just don't know how to make the ground and character look seamless altogether. The ground looks blurry and pixelated while the character remains crisp.
It's really very nice to use, thanks. Played with it and Mousso's Gail this afternoon, coming up with the image below:
The thing it's taught me is that I have never really looked when I've been swimming, so didn't instinctively know the shapes people make in the water. Must try harder.
Fantastic background though.
Regards,
Richard.
Renderosity recommended this on Facebook.
Well, i think that's because the HDRI resolution (8192x4096)
I hope my future releases come at 1634
Very nice character, i think i should work on a darker HDRI for submarine renders :P
Wow! Thanks for the info, that's a very nice surprise!
First I want to thank you for sharing:) Had a good time playing with it. The lighting seems to be well balanced, so well done. As mentioned, if you fix those visble seams you'll have a very nice product to sell. I'd love to see more HDRIs of this kind in the shop, for sure
