Figure with a SUPERMODEL body?

FauvistFauvist Posts: 2,155

I'm looking for a figure or character that has a body as close as possible to the ideal body shape of a supermodel of the type who wears designer clothing on runways in Paris and Milan.  A body with the right proportions and size, the correct thickness of wrists and ankles and neck etc.  I'm no expert in what these women look like under all those clothes, but maybe somebody here can help me find something.

Thanks!

    Aren't they, like, all supermodels?

No.  The supermodels are, like, name-brand models - like Elle Macpherson, Claudia Schiffer.  They're the ones with perfect figures for fashion.  There's a lot of no-name models who are like filler in the runway shows.  They use them because there aren't enough supermodels to go around.

My sister used to live near Naomi Campbell when she  lived in New York and saw Cindy Crawford at a distance when she lived in LA and told me that they were very tall, thin in an athletic sort of way like basketball players or volleyball players.  I think pretty much any of the Raiya characters look like supermodels.

  • Take any female figure, dial down her boobs and dial in some emaciated and maybe a little leg length. And bob's your uncle, you got a "supermodel".

Thank you!  I wasn't familiar with any of these characters.  SC Chloe looks pretty close to what I had in mind (with reduced bust).  I'm looking at a photo of Claudia Schiffer standing straight, in a bathing suit, which I can't link to because it's on Pinterest - but she has a strangely elongated body, and a smaller than normal head.

go to youtube and look up fashion week videos, there are a ton of runway shows with skimpy outfits to help with getting the figure close to what you might want

Claudia also has a strabismus, as do Heidi Klum and Kate Moss. along with a few other icons of female beauty like Penelope Cruz.  On the one hand, it's a little unsettling, but it also adds to their character.  Every supermodel has something that makes her stand out, and is the reason she's not just another department store flyer model.  If you're doing supermodels, it's worth keeping in mind.

Wow!  Strabismus!  I had to look in the dictionary for that word.  It seems to be quite common - Streisand, Karen Black, going way back to Norma Shearer in the 1920s.

If you have one or more fave supermodels, it might be worth checking the Celeb Lookalikes threads.  A few PAs like to draw from real life examples for their products, and a number of them have more than passing resemblences.

I would add that Sakura 8 has some awesome rib cage morphs if you want to show individual rib bones on the skinny girls.

Sakura 8 isn't what you want in terms of a single "supermodel" dial, but the "Ribs Details" morph is a must-have IMO.

Back in the day, I used to go to Macy's Passport Fashion show which often had models and supermodels....  It was a wonderful over the top experience and we got to be within 20 feet of the models.  For the most part, they were skinny per se.   They were very... toned and very tall; the women were generally in the 5'10" to 5'11 range while the male models were 6'2" to 6'4".  I would descide the women's build as closer to a runner's... tall, muscular, thin but not bony while the men were what you imagine if you pictured tall swimmers: muscular, thin and tall.  There was a suprisingly brief time where there were some sickly thin models  but they were more of a curiousity.  Fortunately, both Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell have appeared in Playboy so a quick internet search should show you details of their physiques.

yes laugh. The classic 90-60-90, The Bible + low percentage of body fat. With that you already have the base of any supermodel.

What we normally perceive as supermodels, is still pure theater. It is not something physical. That cult of the character was what changed trends in the fashion world and was the end of supermodels. They  brought more people to the catwalks than the own brands that hired them.

  • This lass has real supermodel proportions: https://www.daz3d.com/glamorous-vicki-set-for-victoria-3-0

Shame it's a V3 based figure with all the joint limitations therein, but works without V3. She has chest size morphs based on bra sizes, AA to D, which I do think is a sensible idea that would benefit all subsequent iterations.

    Regards,

    Richard

There is that famous Linda Evangelina quote:  "I never get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day."  Wikipedia uses this definition: supermodel (also spelled super-model and super model) is a highly paid fashion model who usually has a worldwide reputation and often a background in haute couture and commercial modeling.  It is like defining a star,  the economics define the ranking.  The models who were and are supermodels earn millions which is very different from the rates of an average runway or print model who earns a rather average wage.

I would go with https://www.daz3d.com/auto-shape-enhancer-for-genesis-8-female for the ribcage morph unless you really want Sakura.  It has a bunch of other useful morphs, as well.

Back in the V4 days, there was the Reby Sky set.

    https://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-reby-sky

    Details

Who is Reby Sky? Based on actual 3D scan data, high resolution photos, and time spent with Reby Sky herself, a popular model, radio and TV personality, DAZ 3D has carefully crafted this unique, official Reby Sky texture and morph set. This elite character set for V4 adds a whole new level of realism to your runtime.

Height, relative slenderness, and an air of authority are the basic traits needed to carry off extravagant clothes well. The air of authority thing is hard to convey in virtual models, but look for characters with clearly defined facial bones and a default expression (whatever their face looks like it is doing with no expressions dialed in) that comes off as confident and dignified, rather than cutesy, grumpy, or demure.

  • As nemesis points out, Supermodels are what they are because of their influential status, it's not a certain bodytype. Actual models have about the same bodytypes as nearly every model on this site.

Your best chances at "ideal" shapes would be with the Victoria 4 and Genesis 3 figures, Victoria 4 being the more stylized and glamourous variation, but with her it'll be a hassle to get her textured to iRay. Genesis 3 is also fairly idealized, and generally ready for iRay rendering, but not as stylized as V4.

For G3 specifically, I'd suggest Lilith 7 as a starting point. Skip the horror/goth/emo make-ups, and you have your regular supermodel.

have to disagree, lilith is way to big/fat/whatever for a supermodel type in general

Is there a visual comparrison chart of all the Daz women? What's concerning is body proportions. Any type of womens figure can be considered beautiful, but i dialed in Marilyn Monroe's height and measurements and when i put clothes on her she looked like a sack of potatos.

Yes. She did. Personally, I think she did in the flesh too - far from a huge fan of hers. What animated her and many people think she was beautiful was her character. Her physical shape was a part, but it was the person inside the flesh that made people think she was good looking. It is the 'allure' that the artist must create as the model can't.

Marilyn was not a supermodel wearing clothes tailored to some artistic type's idea of what clothes ought to look like. She was a curvy actress (who struggled with her weight at times) who was wearing clothes that were carefully tailored to her physique (and some of which she could only fit into with a corset) that emphasized the hourglass figure 50s men in the film industry thought women ought to have.

Try researching and dialing Audrey Hepburn's measurements (not quite tall enough for a true supermodel but someone slender enough to wear high fashion without using a corset or looking dumpy in the clothes) and see what happens.

If I had to take a wild guess at a modern-ish base character with a high fashion physique, I'd go with Arabella 7. I don't know if her sort-of G8F counterpart Tasha is quite slim/angular enough.

Monroe wearing a potato sack.  The topic of her looks, bodyshape, and clothing came up during her career.  She responded with a fun photo set.  More here.

I always thought the standard Vicki from V3 ownward was a "typical" supermodel. If there is anything such as a "typical" supermodel.
