Create a copy/instance shortcut key

Hi, I'm building an environment, where I have bunch of premade assets like building walls and 3x3 meter road tiles etc. and using snap to grid function works really nice when I position those items, but I was wondering if there's an easier way to create fast instances of selected item instead of going to Create -> New node instance. It's not really a big deal, but when building a bigger environment all these handy shortcuts ease the job a little. So is there anything like windows CTRL + C and CTRL + V copy paste combo? If not, is it possible to create similar shortcut combo by myself?

  • You can probably define your own short cuts - Window>Workspace>Customise, find the commands on the left (I'm not sre what group they are in, and not every command is there), and assuming you find them right-click>Assign Keyboard Shortcut (from memory) then hit the key-combo you want to use.

Great, thank you. That did the trick. New node instance action is in the Create group if anybody else needs it.

  • Oh, great question and answer! The other day I was trying to build stone stairs out of planes and thought how I wish I could have a hotkey for duplicating it. I'm so getting this working later today!
  • This'll come in handy - I'm assuming I can do the same shortcut idea with 'Save-as - Support Asset - Figure/Prop asset' as I use that a lot.
