Hi, are there Models out who looks like people from the Harry Potter universum?

I just found this:

unsolicited off site commercial link removed

and she looks like Queenie from Phantastic beasts :)

Original:

For me close enough :3

Any one got ideas? Like Dumbledore, Hermione, Luna Lovegood ♥, and the others?

Oh and... there is not maybe a Hogwarts set out, where you can move around? In Harry Potter 5, the PC game, they used a very good Model.... but I dont assume EA did share it :(

There's a character for G8F at Rendo, Emmiline by SangriArt I believe, that's almost an exact likeness of Emma Watson. She exists in both adult and child versions. But she's kind of expensive, from what I remember...

  • Wow 50% off getting it now !!!

Rendo is having a 50% off *everything in your wishlist sale again.

    * Except membership and the like.

LALALALAAA I DIDN'T HEAR THAT, AND THERE'S NO MORE 3D OBJECTS I NEED! Definitely not another dog or horse, nope.

You can only post outside links to other products when a user has asked for it, yours was unsolicited which is why it was removed.

as for fan art models, DAZ allows some liberties with look alikes, but due to copyright and legal issues, you won't find any actual HP models anywhere for DS. your best bet, if you own an HP game is to see if there are developer tools for modding and then extract the models for personal use and import the OBJs into DS.

For characters, there might be some look alikes in this thread https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/58423/celebrity-look-a-likes-for-3d-figures-part-2/p1

I do a lot of Potterverse illustrations. I built my own versions of the characters (and 'Toonified them).

The actors aren't a lot of the Potterfans' ideas of the characters anyway. You've got all kinds of leeway.

Farconville has made some. I see them around... There is an essence of the film version of Harry Potter but I can't say the likeness is entirely there.

Most of the Harry Potter models around are game rips for SFM or XNA which are not all that accurate and would require conversion to Daz. Apart from Emma Watson (Emmeline @ Rendo) done by the fantastic Sangriart and Evanna at sharecg.com (Luna Lovegood) I'm not sure what else there is.
    Best Wishes
    Steve.
    P.S.
Daz don't like people posting links to other stores.

In a Maxx HD thread that had some customer renders, scorpio made one using him mixed with Toon Dwayne that looks like Hagrid to me. I think with a similar long hair and beard, Maxx might make a good base for Hagrid. This is the render in question.

    oh so much answers...

The 3D castle seems to be very rough and I have no idea how to use it, but I also think... it would be crazy to have a full Hogwarts build open...

I just would love to make comics inside/around of Hogwarts :D

The hagrid looks good, but... with guns -_-....

could also be a bud spencer with some hair edits :)

and... where or what is Faconville? :D

Farconville is a vendor who tends to sell at other stores like Rendo. He does characters who look like celebrities, and I've seen a Harry Potter figure, Dean and Sam Winchester etc. The likeness is similar but not exact. You'll have to look to see what I mean.

But I just realized I have one problem at the end... I need/want also some magic robes :D I mean it doesnt need the Hogwarts icons ... but wizard clothes or something, but it would also be a neat idea to start with making 3d content... to add badges from Hogwarts (is this legal?.... are I am allowed to create those badges?) but for that... anyway I need to learn how to create 3d products :D

Phoenix1966 has really good likenesses of Dean and Sam Winchester.

You should be able to add images to clothing using Layered Image Editor (LIE) or iray decals, or editing the textures in photoshop.

Im not sure if there are any good dupes of wizarding world clothing, but there are lots of genereal robes around.

I'm pretty sure its alll trademarked. however, I see no reason you can't make stuff for your own personal use, as long as you don't sell it. you may run into issues rendering items from a known franchise and putting those images on the net as some fan artists do, but that's not something I have much experience with.

  • the problem is always the copyright and what is considered fan art thing

you yourself can make fanart choices but a modeller suppling the stuff can be held responsible in the even of litigation  so not many willing to take that risk.

hence a lot of "inspired" by stuff out there not exact likenesses.

But would I get in trouble if I make a HP-Universe Scene with Hogwarts Logos and just upload the comic on deviantArt for FREE?

Yeah adding images sounds smart and Dean and Sam are for me complete.. uninteresting^^.... I want mainly the teachers and maybe Luna Lovegood and Emma? :D and Tonks ♥

I dont like Harry and Ron and yeah.. but I wanted to make more my own fictive storys but with the "old" teachers :) from the HP timeline, but without Harry :D

I rendered a Sketchup model in Twinmotion

no easy way to get it into DAZ studio, not impossible but more work than I wanted to do

I cannot say if you would get in trouble, you could get a cease and desist, up to you if you want to find out devil

just saying why no PA is going to risk it

I am not a lawyer, but I did read an article awhile ago that was written by a lawyer (sorry, never saved a link). In essence he said that so-called fanart of any kind, including cosplay, was not exempt from copyright laws. He went on to say that just because copyright holders may not exercise their legal rights when it comes to fanart, that does not make it legal. So really, it comes down to how aggressive the copyright holders wish to be about protecting their rights. Personally, I believe that the only safe approach (apart from not doing it at all, of course), would be to:

    a) avoid trying to monetize what you are doing;

    b) avoid making exact copies of the original works;

    c) stick to displaying your fanart and avoid distributing it;

    d) acknowledge the copyright holders of the the original works upon which the fanart is based; and

    e) ensure that your fan art is respectful of the original and not something the copyright holders would find offensive.

The latter is purely my personal opinion, and not a legal opinion, and is based upon a due diligence approach to the matter.

Hmmm... looks fine, indeed not very realistic :D and... I wanna do indeed more the scenes inside the castle, so I guess the easy way would be finding medival/castle interiors and try to redesign it with school elements. Old British school Elements.

In the Daz Store you find mainly American Highschool stuff -_-.... I dont like the US Highschool...

Hmmm okay. My content could be offensive *g* xD even if the harry Potter universe had also some "hidden" brutal things, like the facility Manager "Filch" said they should get in the dungeon hanging at theyre thumbs or something^^... yeah yeah the old days in hogwarts :p Or Ron said that Molly (his mother) spanked Georges? butt pretty hard one time for let ron playing with a broom or something :D But indeed we never saw it in the movies ;)

As if some multinational behemoth is going to prosecute or issue a cease and desist over some rando making fanart, inoffensive or otherwise

Then I guess when you are the 0.0001 percent of fan artists who get targeted, that's the point when you stop, but not before. And when I say 'stop' I mean change your username or something.

Yes i was deep into harry potter fanfiction and making graphics and banners for stories till i was like 23 years old.  I have never known any issues with fan art, regardless of its nature.  And there are plenty of fan artists who profit via Patreon by infringing on various intellectual properties with impunity.

Im not sure about where to find good harry potter stuff for Daz.  But you can probably piece together outfits from stuff in the Store here and other stores elsewhere online.

For PCs, there are probably people with better advice than me on this matter. I have a very good graphics card (RTX2080TI) but other components in my PC are pretty average.  But you dont need an amazing graphics card and average components are fine.  It just means your render time will be longer.

For entry level into Iray rendering, i would think any decent second hand gaming PC can probably work well.  You could look for ones with GTX1060, GTX1070, GTX 1080 graphics cards.  You could probably get a second hand PC much cheaper than the cost of individual second hand parts and for much less than 2000 euros.  But again, its probably irresponsible of me to give advice since I haven't looked into the available options.

If you can handle Iray, and are prepared to make a bit of an investment, Faveral's MICK system will build you a fine castle interior. It's modular and loaded with useful props. It can be converted to 3DL with some of the converters out there, but converted materials don't always *stay* converted once you save and close the scene. And then you have to reapply everything and start over. Faveral's stuff does go on sale, but we're already downstream from the most likely times of year for it to do it. Keep an eye out for new releases, since that sometimes means a discount on the artist's store.

Roguey and Strangefate's ROG Medieval Fantasy Bedroom is another splendid, basically modular set (i.e., you can move and substitute the walls). There is a matching Inn being previewed over in the commercial threads.

My own Potterverse stuff is posted on my website, Red Hen Publications (redhen-publications Add the www at one end and the .com at the other). It's scattered across all three of the major collections (Publications, Graphics, and Commentary). There's an extensive collection of essays on theory and analysis, and a gradually growing lot of fan art, but the whole point of the site is the eBooks of fanfic in the Publications collection.

In theory you should be fine rendering in iray as Daz should just go to CPU if it cant use your GPU.   So I dont know why Daz is crashing for you.  Maybe someone in your other thread will weigh in why that is the case.

Castle assets are everywhere online.  There are lots of free castle/medieval/fantasy stuff on Sketchfab for instance.  In general, there are quite a lot of good freebies on Sketchfab if you check "downloadable" when searching.  I often check for stuff there before looking at other 3D asset marketplaces if i cant find something on Daz.

I also typed "free Hogwarts OBJ" into google and saw some stuff come up.  Usually if you can get an OBJ for a prop/environment then it will import into Daz fine.
