Character stuck in high heeled foot pose.

I Googled this and found several threads with different suggestions.

None of them seem to work so we'll skip past using an earlier version of daz studio and reinstalling daz. lol

Thanks in advance.
So, we have a GENESIS 3 FEMALE character that at some point wore heels and now their feet are stuck in a heeled position.

Even when the character is zeroed-out and a pose WITHOUT heeled feet is applied, the feet go into a heeled pose.

Applying FLAT feet poses goes back to heeled positions. This is weird because it's only one character that does this and none others...ever....

--------------------

The culprit seems to be that the Flat Foot position (with toes and foot all set to detault at -45 or some such number, instead of true zero. I think most things default at zero or 100% on figures' joints.
I have several workarounds - from always adjusting the feet manually to...

Pinning the feet (not my first choice) to...

Locking the joints with scripts, which still leads to manual adjustments per pose application.

----------------------

It seems like flat foot or booted poses make the feet (close to) zero out and Daz studio STILL thinks heeled position on tippy toes is the zero.

How do I reset a figure's bend/twist/side-side parameter settings so that where I set them becomes the new zero default?

I think that will fix the problem.

Any clues?

Have you checked all of the foot's pose parameters?

It's possible something has turned on the "tiptoe" or "high heeled" posing dials, and if those aren't reset to zero, then resetting the bone rotations on their own isn't really fully resetting the foot.

That's something to look into. Never heard or thought about that.

I will dive in later tonight.

Thank you for a new avenue to research.

That's one of the reasons I quit buying product from vendors who insist on making every pose for females wearing high heels. I absolutely hate that. for several reasons.

    1) I very rarely use an outfit that is designed for high heels (being a fantasy artist) and

    2) Even if I do use an outfit with heels I STILL have to adjust the foot position since several vendors think all heels are 6 inch stilletos.

That said i very much appreciate the vendors who bother to include a flat footed version of each pose and think that should be a requirement for all pose sets.

I seem to have solved this one.

Under pose parameters, there are two "Morphs"?

Well, settings AvaHighHeels and RachelHighHeels. Both of thses were set to 100% and each throws the feet into a full high-heeled pose, together, you get the super-tip-toe thing.

When both are turned back to zero, the feet flatten out and match the intended pose properly. So it seems like the poses don't affect these two added..add-ons and thus.....

The best news from this is that I now have (at least) two (new) morphs (I didn't know I had) to adjust the foot pose manually and will be easier to get the feel pose to match any shoe!

AND!  I can reverse and flatten out ANY heel POSE. Once I turned off the parameter LIMITS.

Those aren't specifically the morphs I was expecting, but yeah, there are some shoes that do provide poses.

It does mean that most poses aren't specifically set to reset those sliders if you do remove the shoes (not helpful when those poses aren't well documented), but other than that it seems like a better solution than every single pose set assuming my characters are wearing heels, particularly as the poses should fit the specific shoes in question. (The number of pose sets where I have to flatten out the feet is frankly irritating).

Yeah, I did a search for anything toes and heels and they were all fine.

That was surely the right path though so still, well suggested.

The poses I hate are the ones that pose each toe seperately when it's not needed. Not only are they harder to find, they often do foul things to shoes. I've taken to locking the toes when I first load a character.

  • It's morph in the posing under the foot catagory there's one for either the left foot ot right foot for example "Left Foot Heeled Shoe" "Right Foot Heeled Shoe" just dial it to 0 and you're good. I just came to this page for help and saw what @Matt_Castle had said then i went to the foot catagory and saw the dials the fixed it

The easiest solution. Worked for me. Thanks.
