Is there any interest to a Discord server?

Greets,
Apologies if this is inappropriate or anything.
I've been searching for a DAZ-oriented Discord server, and found just shy of nothing. There's a sub-group of DeviantArt, but it appears to be pretty much empty. A further search of this forum implies that there is a small amount of interest, but there is no Official server, and only brief instance of Unofficial ones.
I am considering starting a very Unofficial server. This would be for, obviously, a small group of people that want to actively discuss and share information regarding DAZ (with Discord? You don't say!). Is there any interests? Is there any Official complaints or statements of the "You can't do that" type? Is there if fact already an active server that I've completely missed?
Again, just considering this. I thought of it this morning about halfway through my coffee. So... There's that.
What say you?

Try this, this is quite active: https://discord.gg/hjGSPZW
Since my computer and Discord are on almost all the time I wouldn't mind such a server.
I don't know if I would be always active but I would join it.
I have looked at Discord for FlowScape, and
Find it utterly disorienting, irrational and pointless. I tried on a number of occasions to post something, and failed. My conclusion was that it wasn't worth any further time to learn. So, no, no interest from me.
So... There's one that shows me that one actually exists with the name that somehow I completely missed, one for "sure, why not," and one "don't really care for it." I'm going to lurk again and consider and watch the replies...
There's at least one more that I can't seem to get an invite to, but that's been advertised on the forums over here, too.
I looked up discord server, but I'm still not sure what exactly it might be in regards to DAZ... anyone got a better/simpler definition than Wikipedia?
It's a real-time chat, basically. Either typed, or voice.
it's basically a chat group. You can share photos and anything else.
It's good for getting real time responses and having a conversation as opposed to forum type of discussing stuff.
facebook has lots of groups and people respond to questions in them
I find they are far less off topic than any forum or live chat too
Forums and chats show you what's new. So there's a plus for them right there. :D
I prefer forums because they are organized into topics, I can see what's new, I can selectively respond to what I want to respond to, hide what I'm not interested in, etc. And I don't have to respond to everything in 10 seconds because otherwise people won't know what the heck I'm responding to. :D
Agree with all of that - plus I've disabled my FB account anyway. On the other hand, I don't like over-moderated forums so the Discord server might be an alternative as it would not have the strict moderation that this forum does. I've checked out the one that exists already and it doesn't seem to be well populated yet but I joined anyway. I have to say that Discord is a PITA unless you use the app. Trying it in a browser caused me all kinds of problems.
I feel like chat and forums have different purposes.
For anything that you want to last, and maybe see again later, or be seen by a lot of people forum is the way to go.
If you want to clarify something fast, chat is a lot better. If you find someone that can help you, you can clarify the issue on the spot, not go back and forth on the forum, refreshing the page, or waiting who knows how much for the other person's response.
I joined the existing discord server and will join others as well if they are created as it doesn't bother me, I have the app open anyways.
I'm probably old-fashioned, but when I have an issue, I might have it again in two weeks if I'm not constantly using whatever it is I had the issue with. On a forum, I can look back what the response was. On a chat, looking back two weeks is insane for me among so many different things going on on the same channel, and without the ability to filter for a certain topic. If it was voice chat, then you can't even look it back even if you have the patience for that sort of thing. It's fun to chat with others, though, if I have the free time to do so. So I don't have anything against chats either, they have their use.
I agree with you. I am on 5 discords at the moment and hate each one of them for the navigation and the 'attitude" since they are all game or 3d related. I get the impression a disord channel is easier to set up than an actual forum, which would explain their popularity.
And that would be a huge problem with DAZ and it's assets unless it is strictly moderated
I've been computer messaging since 1982 or thereabout; one of the first things I look for in a new environment is how to disable online chat, for everyone's sanity. I like to think about my answers - so in a chat session, I'd be replying to a question somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes after it popped up. So - no, not at all interested in Discord.
its the TOS of Forums that are the issue though, Facebook while nudity not allowed, links to any 3D sites and products not limited to the company hosting the forum are
it's where I learn of new stuff from Renderosity, Renderhub, CGBytes etc
I follow a lot of PA's and see WIP , previews etc and opinions can be given
I'd love to join. Discord is incredibly convenient. I'd appreciate if anyone could drop me an invite if they ever get around to it :)
See my post above for an invite link.
Thanks for the info. I'd heard of it a couple of times, but never got around to looking it up, and the Wikipedia page seemed light on what it might be used for practically.
For somene who used to be Tech Support I am a bit of a closet Luddite with a lot of things .. that said I also have no use for any form of 'social' media in any way shape or form. Despite the benefits of getting immediate feedback from a 'real-time' chat that woudl be dependant on who was there at the time so very large chance of a question, or worse the answer, being lost in a deluge of other stuff whilst I get on with RL away from the computer. Unless I, or someone else, posts something against the ToS here at least any question I have can be seen and responded to over a period of time, and is also pretty much always there, for reference. Now, lemme just say 'getorfamalawn' and bid you adieu ..
wow a real intellectual.
There's nothing wrong with taking a minute to make sure you don't say something misleading, that doesn't make sense, or just makes you look like an idiot.
That never helps anyone.
Discord is really easy to use, but it can be a bit overhelming at the first time :) Like opening daz3d the first time or hexagon or Zbrush or... any Tool ;)
The invite is dead
The invite is dead
Seems to work okay for me. Although I'm already in, but it doesn't say it's expired, not even in incognito mode.
