New Brooklyn Apartment?

I'm just really trying to figure out this set... https://www.daz3d.com/new-brooklyn-apartment

Is that a bowling alley in the middle? What is that upper stage like  thing for that you have to walk up a wall ladder and then jump to side to climb on? What are all those pipes for? And is there a bathroom? This is the strangest apartment I have ever seen...

I would agree if this was just art, but this is content to be used by others and it's just really hard to figure out what it even is. It would be really interesting to visit it in real life or even VR, but as a usable set, not so sure, although it does have a lot of props which are kit-bashable...

  • Personally, I don't see the problem - it's an interesting design.. if you don't like the glass covered pipework, then I think a shader would let you hide that.. or just put a rug over it.

I've seen a lot of mezzanies like that, with the bed there.. and given it's an apartment you could argue that it's for like quirky air b'n'b weekends, rather than to live in.  I've done some weird design stuff too, it's part of the charm of this.  I don't think everything has to be 100% real, or literal, or anything.. becuase it's just polys on a screen.

It is such an exclusive and upscale apartment that it features a view of the water & sewage pipes that run throughout the apartment, as well as the common wet wall that is shared with the neighbors, but no bathroom, because 3D people need no stinkin' bathrooms!   And they are all cool with patio doors that lead to a narrow concrete slab followed by a drop to ????  (If my memory serves me right, I do recall my neice's Barbie dream houses having bathrooms, "but that girl has everything...")

    I like the new apartment.

As Jack said, you can easily hide the pipes if you don't like them.

The only thing I would love to see with these apartments and never do is a backdrop included for the windows.

More often than not I struggle to find an appropiate image (that also has the right license) with the right angle and everything.

Actually I was thinking of making the glass covered pipe thing into a glass covered fish pond. There's a restaurant like that here where you walk on glass over a koi pond. Now I just need 3D koi. I'm not saying it's not interesting, just a bit odd. Especially with no bathroom or closets and door that looks like a door that would lead out to a patio or back yard when this clearly would lead to a more secure door and and elevator. I'm not really putting it down, as much I'm just finding it confusing.,.

I live 1 hour from NYC and I have plenty of family there so I'm going there whether I like it or not and I've seen some interesting warehouse converted apartments there but this set is so weird. Like you, I couldn't make sense of it so I don't have any interest in buying it but it certainly is unique!

There must be a shortage of young white female character and high heeled bikini armor releases, if attention is shifting to apartment-realism?

What I imagine the designer tried to convey, was the idea of an old factory renovated into a hipster apartment building. Odd projects like that have been done the past few years, with a few of them "leaving some of the old pipework intact for that unique original industrial look". Most of the time it wasn't the original pipeworks anyway, because that had been illegally stripped by squaters to sell for old metal years before the overhaul already, or otherwise replaced because the originals were heavily contaminated with toxic remnants. There's several such apartments in the store, and this isn't even the most extreme in that regard.

Well, that part, at least, is easy: https://www.daz3d.com/goldfish-and-props

I am curious about the strange obsession with Brooklyn apartments over the past year or so, though. There are four in the store, counting this one. Tesla's done two of them, even.

Just storage, I expect. If the furniture in there is mobile enough, I'd turn it into the missing bathroom.

A weapons room? Drugs? I'm trying to imagine what could be in those crates lol.

Just moving boxes, waiting to unpack.... when/if you know where to put it smiley

I love it! And I love I finally can afford something like this. It can be whatever your imagination wants it to be.

    Love, Jeanne smiley

Just throw out the parts you don't like and you got a nice living room. There are many props and some of them are interesting for other purposes..

I believe that room is still under renovation. When the contractors are finished, it will be a fully functioning bathroom. However, I've heard plumbers are hard to come by on the East Coast, and it could be months before they finally plumb the fixtures.

It is probably a building code violation in most municipalities to have that reading nook without proper railing protection similar to what's around the bed.  But the wall ladder looks like fun.

It's a first release by this artist. The feedback is clearly needed. I will say there is some potential, lots of props and it can be had cheaply.

Those last two is why I grabbed it. The pipes are an... Intersting touch, but the architecture is... Wow. Parting it out is going to be the way to go here.

Look like this is his/her second product,  both have a cool NewYork regentrification theme to them. Very visually appealing. Certain jurisdictions have the reclamation of older industrial space down to a science.

    the other one is https://www.daz3d.com/old-manhattan-apartment

Always support new PAs.  If they don't get the sales early on, they move on to other things.

I tend to want to do that anyway... DAZ made it super-inexpensive, so it was much easier.

Daz made Old Manhattan Apartment super cheap too. That's how I bought it, and didn't know I had it. I like this PA's style.

As my buddy Bob Ross used to say, "It's your world" Another words it's your world to create. Ever PA has to start somewhere and I must say I've seen stranger things in the store then this. Here's to you and good luck to the vendor.

Bless! I am totally 'stealing'@Wonderland idea for a koi pond. I've been wanting koi for a while so this is perfect. Thank you @Kerya for the links !! Personally this is an instant buy for me because of all the items in it. I think the room is really unique and I could maybe repurpose it for different things but the items are selling it for me- lots of plants, two different beds, cool ladder, a bean bag chair, plus other bits and bobs. My Daz library is small so something like this I think is especially good for those that are starting out or just want prop variety. clacydarch3d is definitely a creator I'll be keeping an eye out for- love this :D

Maybe the PA was inspired by this Jersey City apartment featured in 'The NY Post'

I've ditch all or most of the bookshelves personally. I don't believe the current occupant has read all those books either. laugh

Oops, it's in Brooklyn, not Jersey City; but awesomely cool.

I think there is actually a DAZ 3D Store product based loosely off this apartment already.

Why do you doubt that any one could have read the books?  Would you believe that there are equally as many books in this little house I live in (I think it must be approaching 4 figures), and all of them have been read at least once,  some of them have been read several times, by either myself or himself when he was still alive.  I am currently making up some boxes of books to have them take down to a charity shop and have 4 boxes packed already.
