And here I expected 3 buses to arrive at once, lol

Though I guess with those options you could make more than 3 buses.

...excellent. even have my "exact change" fare ready.

The bendy bus, as they are known here in the UK, have mostly been withdrawn from service.

Yeah because they were completeley impractical for our ancient city layouts:P. but everywhere else the world seems to like using them.

And I figured we already have a London bus in the store so.....

Anyway - thanks for the thread OP :)

I have since make a sort of basic box enviroment /Iray lighting prop for interior renders if anyone wants it, i could put it on sharecg or update it tot he main product.

yeah LHD is more common so I went with that.

If only there was any easy way to mirror geometry and rigging in Daz Studio (is there?) because it would be easy enough to flip the UVs (for text) the other way.

Because there is no way im going to re-rig the whole thing from scratch just to make RHD.

If there is a way to mirror - Ill happily do a RHD version & bonus mat set in an update.

Can always flip the image once the render is done.  Also wouldn't negative 100 x-scaling work?

My city only has the single buses. I am guessing you can hide the back section and accordion?

Should work, just might have to keep some minor details like the dashboard out of sight. And it might also be safer to pose the bus (in negative) before doing the -100 x-scaling.

Another product I didn't look at the pictures, just hit put in cart!

Denver has single and double buses running around. And I love (sarcasm) how they placed their bus stops 20 feet from the intersections and the buses pull up, block the single lane and through traffic and right turn traffic. (They get a lot of rear-end traffic hits.)

finally a bus. instant buy yes

now we need more different busses, at least half as much there a bus stops in the store devil

  • DripDrip Posts: 1,191

Now let's see when someone comes with an expansion product to hide the rear and the harmonica, to turn it back into a single bus.

The model is almost perfect as a Barcelona bus, about the only missing things are a wheelchair ramp and safety belt (which should go where the fold-down seats are). Needless to say, this is an insta-buy: not only does it fill a niche that had been empty for quite a while, but is a Dogz product. A definitive no-brainer.

Bam.  In the cart along with Ansiko's Cross Roads and HowieFarke's Ultrascenery.  Just waiting to find out if PWDesign's new road set can have the grafitti turned off to know if that stays in the cart.  It's just too bad that I own al lthe Hit The Road promo items and that the F13 sale items are just a measly 50% off.

using -100% on the x scale should do the job, fitting the coats will need a little adjusting in gimp (or whatever) mainly for the writing

We've got articulated buses on most of the long distance routes here in L.A.  Ours aren't quite as squared off in the coach shape, but this will do us fine.

Now we need a standard low-floor bus that doesn't articulate. It would probably be possible to kitbash one with the geometry tool. But a real one wouldn't require the kind of finagleing that a frankenbus would.

In which case i can make a Uv set for such purposes, so when people flip it, all text can still be displayed the the right way round via a mat preset. I can get that in to a DIM update.

    Thanks for the tip :)

As for a non-articulated version, let me think about it/ how to handle it in the future, I could do it, but its ALOT of work for a DIM update, but not enough to qualify as a whole new product.

so I'll have to think about that one.

Sounds like a candidate for one of those "if you bought that here's a coupon for this" deals.

Yup make it an addon for it

  • Hurdy3DHurdy3D Posts: 1,047

I would buy a non articulated bus as a addon, but I would also take it as a free update cheeky

Still got the bendies on a few routes here. I have no idea how the drivers get them round some of the corners we have in the city centre — the old Routemasters got stuck a time or two, for a comparison.

A very nice-looking model, but a bit bigger than I'm ever likely to use. Something smaller, like a modernisation of the old-style bus in the old Curious range, is something I'd probably buy.

They needed a longer bus, because people have been gathering and waiting at all of those bus stops for a very long time...

Seriously though, there have been a few other options out there in the interim, at Rendo... the Modjo citybus doesn't look bad.

...yeah, Portland retired their bendies back in 1999.  They were a maintenance headache and had serious issues, like poor brakes (not good in a hilly city). The experience soured the system on the longer buses for decades.

However after 21 years bendies will be seen on the streets here once again as construction of a new BRT line is underway on the east side, most  likely ones like these which Vancouver WA recently acquired for their express commuter routes.

Meanwhile, up north in Seattle, about 70% of their bus fleet are bendies.

  • SevrinSevrin Posts: 6,306

Here in Montreal we have some bendy buses, but they're mostly used on high-volume long straight routes where they end up not having to do a lot of actual bending.

  • Sfariah DSfariah D Posts: 26,254

I have not seen a bus like that one in real life.

They're quite common in my city - we even have double ones...

We had them for a time in London,  but they were withdrawn from service as not being well suited to London streets.

    Apparently Bendy buses can't reverse
