We've got them on a lot of major routes in Houston.  Not as many as we used to, but I think that's mainly because they ramped up the bus schedules so that the wait time between is a lot shorter, so the crowds don't build up at the bus stops so badly.

Oh, it's easy enough — but they can only do it once...

We had them for a time in London,  but they were withdrawn from service as not being well suited to London streets.

..yeah, London had high capacity buses for decades with the double deckers which better on the narrow streets.  Here is one of the newest models that is all electric.

....in USD that's 42,938.87 about the price of a Lexus  IS 350.  The single 40' Gillig buses that the Portland transit system uses (seen in my post above) are almost ten times the price at 413,000 USD.

Hrrmmmmph     that's a bit of a generalisation.   50 years+ driving,  only one minor accident (not my fault) and 15 years of that was mostly through the heart of London ( all 7 Royal Parks and a couple of other stops, plus Company office near Tower Bridge )

I can drive but I cannot get driver's insurance without a car.  My cars were bought at Daz or Rendo.

...now if you've seen those Russian dashcam vids you'd see it is evident much of the general population there can't. Granted personal car ownership and the right to drive has only been a available to the masses there for about three decades.

We have quite few "bendy buses" aka articulated buses even though they don't always mix well with winter weather.

The problem is that the driving wheels are in the rear section. If the front section encounters significant resistance, say, while trying to go up a moderate grade through unplowed heavy snow, the bus will tend to jack-knife. The mess pictured below started off that way, then as other buses came along they tried to find creative paths around the stuck bus, got stuck themselves, and well, the situation kind of snowballed from there (ahem).

Haha, they can't reverse?!  There is Euro Truck Simulator, and trucks are difficult to steer in reverse. Really takes some time to learn.

Heh, besides the difficulty of steering it the right way as you mentioned, you can see this is a pretty busy spot. Imagine gunning it to get over a snow bank in reverse, aimed towards a steady line of traffic and random pedestrians. Could easily turn into a much worse situation.

...that is why ladder trucks for fire departments have a second person steering rear wheels.  Those have to deal with tight turns as well as be able to back up so when they return to the firehouse they can be parked facing forward ready for the next call.

I remember this. It happens quite abit but not to this extreme. We also have the double deckers here too.

The bendy bus, as they are known here in the UK, have mostly been withdrawn from service.

We still use Articulated busses here in the Bay Area of California where I live!

I seem to recall that somebody (Kyoto Kid?) was looking for a Greyhound type bus but I can't find that particular thread, so this one will have to do.

Anyway, here's a Scenicruiser bus that seems pretty well detailed, all doors open, even the windows open. Slightly pricey at the moment but maybe it will go on sale sometime.

...thank you.  Yes it was me and I did purchase it.

I just wish there would be some of the older transit buses like many US cities used which were made by GM, Faegol/Flexible, and Marmon-Herrington (teh latter trolley buses).  Unfortunately most other 3D sites  where i've seen them are pricey and the models are often not in a format which can be directly loaded into Daz without converting in modelling software.(and then you often lose the UV mapping and any rigging).  .max format, which many models are in, is also proprietary to 3DS MAX and cannot be converted.

...yeah our transit system uses similar vans for it's paratranist service although they've been slowly replacing them with more efficient Ford Transit HD350s. I'm sure the drivers love that as they are much easier to handle, particularly on many of the narrow streets we have here.
