Transfer DAZ animal fur to Cinema 4D

December 2020 in Cinema 4D Discussion

Hi I'm new to DAZ 3d, and I'm currently using the DAZ house cat model. I was wondering if there was a way that I could transfer the DAZ fur material into c4d, or would I have to create a hair material manually in c4d?

Pretty sure you'd have to remake it from scratch, if we're talking actual hair/fur.  From what I can tell so far the "Bridge" is really just a slightly better FBX export that auto-loads the model into Cinema with materials - and with support for several popular engines besides just the native render - saving you the time of having to go and import it manually and recreating textures for your engine of choice. If said engine is supported,  that is. Cycles isn't for instance.  It will auto-create Pose Morphs as well, though so far I've only ever gotten the Head morphs to load - it won't create any from other parts of the rig...

I was hoping for something like InterPoser Pro  which seamlessly integrated Poser content into Cinema4D, so I was pretty disappointed in the Bridge when I finally got it working.  It speeds up the process sure, but that's about it.

If it's dForce, it's possible to export that to C4D as splines. I can't remember if that works through the bridge, or if you have to do an OBJ export.

It works with the exporter, I tried with the new DAZ cat and I get the splines over.

To be honest, the fur for the Daz Housecat kind of sucks anyway, and you'd probably be better served giving it new fur in C4D.
