Have you "bought" the beta? (It's free, but not added to your account by default)
Um .. no.. where do I "buy" it?

- Greg
I see it.. as a regular product .. who would've thought. thanks!
Check the main log and helper log - both are available by clicking the gear icon at top-right of the DIM window.
I just updated DIM, but I do not see those updates.
Downloaded the Beta. Installed and failed on load up.

The beta version I'm running on my M1 MacBook Air (macOS 11.5.2 Big Sur) is 4.15.0.25. I thought 4.15.0.2 was an earlier release of DAZ Studio. Someone can fact check me. :)
Lee
That's further than I got. Nothing will install because the CMS can't be loaded...
Will this Daz Studio Beta enable my GPU's to work? I still use 4.10 to ensure I can still render with my GPU's.
Sorted it. I had to grant permissions to DIM and DIMHelper in the Security and Privacy settings.
I know I've been highly critical and mean, but from the bottom of my heart...
Thank you, Daz.
dhhh, sorry for the double post but for some reason editing gives me fits.
r/n, it loads pretty quickly on a Mac Mini /w the Apple M1 chip. However, it completely goes to a crawl and hangs when I try to load a figure or a scene, though it eventually loads after 2-3 minutes. Granted, I'm running my content library from an external hard drive, so idk if that has anything to do with it. It could very well be the case.
I have yet to update my Mac Pro (work computer) to Big Sur, but I will later. Since that runs on Intel, I don't think there'll be *too* many issues when the time comes.
ETA: Hmm... seems like everything is loading quicker now after I adjusted the Privacy/Permission settings in System Preferences. Nice.
Confirm! #metoo
Since I own an M1 Air I decided to try the beta and have enabled usage reporting to help Daz. Here's my progress so far:
1. To those of you who regularly use DS on a laptop: Ho-ly @#$%. I don't know how you do it. Jeez-us... Talk about cramped... Now I know how digital sardines feel... :: hugging my 32" BenQ ::
2. DS, Genesis 8 Basic Female and Basic Wear Clothing all load without issue. Toulouse Hair crashes DS. I've had to restart twice now.
EDIT: Here's my first render using a single Distant Light in its default position, Draw Dome enabled, and all other render settings left alone. Render time: 27.96 seconds.
Okay, after months I finally got me the Beta installed (Big Sur, Intel mac). Program runs but can't load any figure, hmmm... No time to test further (work) so later on the day I test some more.
Good, another beta to add to the collection!
But seriously, I don't mind the delay as it will give you guys much more time to get it just right, and yeah, it was very wise not to just release an essentially 4.15 with gimped features, as it's still going to be a while 'til plugin/script PAs can do the conversions anyways!
Looking forward to 5!
Thanks for the update Rawb! It's always good to communicate what's going on.
This is OT and I'm just going to talk and see what comes out... it seems to me that any new version of DS is limited by the need for content backwards-compatibility, and conversely, any new content is limited to work within the constrains of the current version of DS. So both are counter-limiting with respect to progress and innovation. Seeing as lots of users are asking for new DS capabilities, soft-body dynamics/real-time rendering, like that of Unreal, Blender or Unity, I suppose a time will come when backwards-compatibility will have to go and new content made for a truely new version that incorporates those new capabilities, in-house rather than with bridges. That would upset a lot of people with gbs of content, but you can't make an omelette without breaking eggs, they say.
For those who haven't read the Highlights page (which is still being updated):

I'm not too experienced in reading logs, so I don't see any obvious indication of WHY it failed, only messages stating THAT it failed.
I have version 4.15.0.25
I also failed to run this program the first time.
I deleted everything.
Manually installed only 2 components, First install PostgreSQL CMS and after DAZStudio4 64-bit Public Build.
it's alive
Well, I guess the this version lost it's plane to Europe.
Have you added the Beta to your library (bought it, still free), look ^Up for instructions.
Maybe we need a new pair of special glasses.
Been there, done that. Still no beta. But DIM's log says I have a lot of "Remote Name Collision" which must be something absolutly awesome, me thinks
If you find the zips and test them with ana rchive tool do they report errors?
Rob says it could be that your anti-virus/anti-malware realtime protction has the packages open to check their contents and that is blocking DIM from accessing them.
Toulose Hair uses one of the sahders that is known to cause a crash on M1 hardware - the issue involved a script file in some way, but they haven't (or hadn't) yet fixed it. If you have a machine that does work you could load the hair, apply the Iray Uber Base to all its surfaces, and save that - it should open on the M1 machine; otherwise that content will not load until the issue is resolved.
I had the same problem and it was a download filter thing (since I have used DIM so few times in my iMac (I still use my old MacPro because of this Big Sur thing) I hadn't noticed that the filter setting for public builds was disabled. Hope this helps.
A few months ago I wrote here that I didn't believe that Daz would have a Big Sur compatible version before the middle of next year (or before the end of the Universe) but I also said that if I was wrong I would come here and say I was wrong. Since Daz released a beta version that runs on MacOS Big Sur (it's not really the promised version 5, but it works not bad for a beta) here I am saying I was wrong and promising to penitenciate myself by not eating 'Almas' caviar and not drinking Armand de Brignac Brut Gold Methuselah champagne for the next 150 years.
So, having promised to penitenciate myself I have to say that I got a crash on my first render of a simple character: Cherubit's Ciel for Genesis 8 (just the character and the Cherubit's shader, no clothing or hair) and a Fabiana HDR. The computer is a 2020 27" iMac (Retina 5K) with a 3,6 GHz Intel Core i9 (10 cores) and an AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB and 48 GB of RAM. During the render, the computer's temperature got up to 73º C (163.4º F), which is about what I get when using Unreal, with a room temperature of 28º C (82.4º F), the GPU memory use was about 50% with load of about 28% (Daz wasn't using it but something was) and the 10 cores got about 90% use. I was simultaneously running Firefox, Texteditor, Notes and DIM and everything (plus the OS) used ≈35GB of RAM. If anyone at Daz wants to see the log crash and the diagonse log I include them in an attachment (couldn't paste it here because it was too long).
After this crash I made two renders (one with a piece of furniture and an HDR, the other with Cherubit's Ciel, this time with outoftouch's Adeline hair and lilflame's See Me Suit with the basic white shader, and an HDR). During the last render I watched a video on Youtube and surfed the net using Firefox. I managed to save the last render (both the render and the .duf) without any problem. So, so far not bad.
I can't seem to install from the DIM. I must be doing something wrong. This beta version of Daz Studio, Big Sur 11.5.2
