Meshitup seems to do about the best job with historical stuff on a reasonably consistent basis. Not perfect, probably, but better than average. Oskarsson has a number of useful things that hit the checkboxes for serving as uniforms, but aren't actually historic.
But yeah. it's been a while since I've seen anyone attempting to do actual historical uniform models. And most of the ones I know of are all for gen4.
I for one would love historically accurate uniforms and clothing. Probably wouldn't sell tho as it's not skimpy ;)
A couple years back I causually asked a similar question regarding a Beefeaters Uniform on the Marvelous Designer forum, and some guy whanged one out in a day or so. I wasn't even close to absorb what he was doing, but you might inquire there for some leads.

yeah, I would love some as well, especially like that first image posted, but yeah, it would have to be a labor of love since it probably wouldn't sell well
I miss old M4 Greek and Persian outfits. My Assyrian warriors have no one to slay.
There are some M4 outfits around but they do show their age badly.
I believe there is an artist at Rendo- who makes a lot of ancient uniforms, named Deacon. Looks really nice.
I once saw a beautiful hardcover book on sale dirt-cheap, with colour illustrations of ancient uniforms. I could kick myself for not getting it.
Try the internet archive and look for historic costume :) Lots of full color stuff there. The downside is that it's digital.

My main problem - and not only with male clothes - is the "historically accurate" point. Each time I see a "Viking Outfit" with tons of fur and horns on the helmet something inside me dies a little bit...
dForce Viking Commoner Outfit for Genesis 8 Males and Viking Handmaiden for Genesis 8 Female was the closest Genesis outfits ever got to actual "viking"clothing and I only mean "close enough". Of course it's not helped by the HBO Vikings shows being awful in terms of outfits.
For all it matters usual Daz/Poser "viking" styles might be as well renamed to "fantasy DnD barbarian".
Fur - something you can sleep on, or wear as cover in wintertime. But not clothing for Vikings. They had wool and linen, knew to weave and dye fabrics. And they loved to wear colors and be well-dressed. In their high-time they were a fashion trend for big parts of Europe.
here is a good one
you can also buy a printed book on left from various stockists
a nice one to look at online of the same artist is here http://www.kendallredburn.com/home.php
you can rightclick save images for personal use only
