Hi could anyone help me? this question may have been answered before and im sorry if it has but i've been trying to export my daz genesis 8 avatar to cinema 4d octane using the bridge plugin. once ive imported, visually it all looks okay but then when i convert materials to octane im just greeted with blank/black texures? is there any way to fix this or a workaround? Thanks in advance

yeap use the octane material converter instead :) and you will need to tweak your textures anyway so....

uncheck transparency in the c4d material also before converting :)

Please do note Acceptable Ways of Handling Nudity  - in this case you might have zoomed in to show only the upper body.

The DAZ Octane converter is of no use in this case.
The main issue is that the imported materials have NO color channel and a layered reflectance channel instead.
    My current workflow is:

    1. import with the plugin in FBX format
    2. collapse any duplicate materials (Alt+slide it onto another similar material)
    3. convert to Octane. The plugin and Octane 'Convert materials' command give the same (bad) results
    4. In the Octane node editor, remap the diffuse map to the correct channel
    5. Add the roughness map by searching it from the maps directory

There must be a way to import materials WITHOUT the problematic DAZ layers, but I have not found the option to get rid of them, either in DAZ or in C4D.
I submitted a bug report for this issue.

Any time I import something into another program, I do so with the full expectation that I will have to completely build the shaders myself.
