D/S4.6 users, good news ... Genesis 3 works therein :-) It did take a couple of attempts before it rendered right but once the program had the files optimized or whatever it does, rendered fine with defaults. Face BONES!!! Lots of them ... awesome.

For the Poser users, okay ... D/S is free, Genesis 3 is free ... I hope everybody has at least "bought it" while it is free.
Now, if one just manually installs D/S and the P.Service thingie ... and of course the default content it comes with ...
Through the Content Library [works the same as the Poser library, find the folder and click on the icon] ...
Find under People > Genesis 3 ... load that ~ then "export as .obj file" COLLECTING MAPS to a folder "anywhere you want it".
Then Open Poser and import it.
Now in my PP12 it loaded looking black but it rendered almost all okay ... sadly I'm not very adept at the materials room there. So yes one will need to tweak some settings because not materials information can be put into an .obj file or .mtl file. Once you have the figure's mats "as desired", save out a mat file for next time.
"Next time", in D/S, Pose the figure and adjust the face muscles etc as desired, put on some hair and clothing making sure everything is parented to Genesis 3 [usually is if G3 was selected before adding the hair and clothing] and once again "export out the .obj" using the Poser settings PLUS changing the maps to COLLECT ALL MAPS.
Then Poser will load all it can, apply the mat for G3 and fix up the rest as desired, technically you could save all this out as a prop file AFAIK, add in your scene and render.

The clothing for Genesis 2 is supported with Auto-fit for Genesis 3 ... so no, one does not have to buy oodles of hair and clothing if one has oodles already for G2. There is a free undershirt for G3 this week IF one is making a purchase OR if one is a PC member. [check the PC flash page for the link to the available freebie for any given week ... one is only for PC members, but one of the 2 is potentially for anybody]/

Why do I suggest all this ... look at the brows!!!!
No morphing, just dial in 2 pose controls!

I understand that G3/V7 is a new character and there are dozens of new threads in the forum talking all about her, but this is the Star Trek thread. I can see where showing the eye brows is relevant to show off the ease of creating Vulcan or Romulan characters, but the rest of it if off topic in my opinion. Can we please keep this thread from turning into a G3/V7 love me hijacking?

Logically, one would be expecting ST clothes for the figure and more morphs etc. ... Had 8 or so projects in mind for this for ST, including making something workable for Poser [if at all possible] and of course the outfits. I REALLY don't appreciate your callous remarks. Mainly done with the Bridge, just testing out some more with the lighting and starting up working on other sections of my ship for my story. I was inspired by Madison Bruffy's Nova Trek series to start working on my own based in it's own universe and not totally be hampered by some of the canon that has been accumulated over the past 49 years.

Here are some of the updated pics to the bridge and some of the picture ideas I have done for my story. (Still in the process of developing the story) Thanks again to Madison Bruffy for inspiring me and also releasing the TMP Set models for use.

    Meant as friendly critique:
I'm not expert enough to know exactly how to fix that, but either the lights needs upping or there's another render setting that needs fixing. As they are, it doesn't look like the rendering job was finished.
Her top needs fixing too. Either by adjusting her shape or morph fit adjustment for the top.

    Otherwise looking good :-)

I did the rendering in IRAY, I kind of got impatient with the wait time, but I did a new rendering at least of the bridge, It's at a unique camera angle but still working on it.

Could be a very useful angle though for some scenarios ... and yes that is showing better too. Have been reading around in the forums and apparently some are having similar issues with "noise" in their renders. Doesn't seem to be a definitive answer available though, lots of experimenting. The only way to cut the wait time for tests would be do smaller sizes. Also, remove from the scene anything not "in" the scene. And I've found some of the older shaders simply freeze it.

In the past you have and that is GREATLY appreciated, but that is not what you did this time, and I am sure that the members of the forum are well aware of the dozen plus threads for G3f and V7 as well. I am sure that eventually there will be clothing that can be utilized for Star Trek fan purposes. If you are cancelling your eight or so projects because of ONE request to not hijack the thread with G3f and V8 comments then I apologize to the members of this forum for that. I didn't realize that I wasn't allowed to voice opinions that went contrary to the poster. My comment was HARDLY callous it was a simple request and was not meant to offend you in any way. Thank you for the reminder I am well aware that a store runs this forum and this thread.

I want to thank everyone on the thread for the work they have done for the 3D artist who love Star Trek, but it appears that I am no longer a good fit or have the right mind set to continue here. I enjoyed my time here and made some great friends, I wish you all the best .

No? What i was doing was trying to explain to a die-hard Poser user in here that it can be, and how to use it. For the most major project I happily realized this morning a way to get something of Genesis 3 WORKING in Poser .... however have no intentions of turning my tutorial stuff into private conversions.

People, lets not jump ship and hear people out before anyone snaps at another. Shadow and others, you missed the point Cath was trying to make and blew it out of proportion instead of asking what she meant. This is how nerves get frayed and do not be surprised if you get snapped back at.

We're all here for a purpose and please do try and get along, as we always have before.

No biggie, but some people appear to be displeased to start with concerning G3F/V6... shame, but please be patient when someone tries to tell you something which doesn't have appeared to get across the first time.

Now from what I gather, there appears to be a way to get the new figure working in poser. With the facebones the new figure has, creating romulans/vulcans and perhaps others will be easier. That is what I got from Cath's post, which isn't hijacking.

... ONE request to not hijack the thread with G3f and V8 ....

Damn, G3F comes with a V8? That must be pretty fast rendering then. :P

Now that I am done with my fit over yet another new Genesis 3... this should be ready tomorrow hope to have it on sharecg and other freebie spots. Think a romulan commander dress might be my first test piece for g3f.

Trying out a new kitbash design with parts made by Greywolf Starkiller and Ptrope. As a bonus, I decided to test the capabilities of IRay, and I've got to say, I love the results!

These are not 100% perfected (Still dealing with the noise in the pic) but these are just two updates on the Bridge redress using the panels from VP's Starship Bridge 9 and adding some more textures (originally made by BAZ1701) to the bridge to help with the look.

Not necessarily an easy solve but when you do, might want to save the settings for future use.

A few ideas are presented in these threads:

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/58322/

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/56788/

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/58034/

LOTS of light, people turn those numbers into the thousands ...

Also if you haven't done so recently, going to the manufacturer's website to update the drivers could be very helpful for those render times. The updates from Feb. made some massive improvements, even Hexagon works better now :-)

I have one of the Sketch-up, but it has no doors and no chairs. The doors are not an issue- cloth plains will serve there. But I don't know if I have the skill or the programs to make the chairs. I'll check out Vanishing Point.

I thought there had been but I got it confused with one of the other bridges. Most of the LCARS panels look ok at least, but there's the matter of getting the Sovereign class MSD on there and a few of the signage spots fixed.

I don't think I'd messed with that one yet other than to make sure it loaded in DAZ so I don't have any fixed textures I can share with you yet.

That's okay. I'm still working on my page lay-outs. I've got time yet. I'll take samples from screencaps and I have a few LCARS collections bookmarked. I'll get it set up.

Just an FYI, but in the MegaList, you missed one of Mylochka's excellent skins. For the Cheron people. Here's the link

I only noticed because I'm having to replace all of my content. My external drive died over the weekend, and now I'm having to reconstruct my entire content library. This is going to be fun. NOT. LOL.

I know exactly what you're going through. That happened to me a few years ago and I lost a lot of Nova Trek files. Fortunately I had enough stuff on separate storage DVDs that I was able to recover most of it.
