Actually it seems like there are some that are "fiber style" vs. "card style" (they load the same way). There are a few versions of each shape: end angled up, end angled down, high, low, thick, and thin.
For the work I do, I really like these.
If only you had done the promos. I had zero interest in this package based on the product page.
I received this message, so what has changed except the product name? (The product page and my product library still shows the "old" product name) Still no textures for the anatomical elements?
I just bought the Character Essentials and also got an orange banner that when clicked told me the name had been updated to Starter Essentials for Genesis 9. I am perplexed. It still calls it Genesis 9 Character Essentials on the product page and also in my content library.
Tomorrow's banner "For clarity we have changed the package previously known as starter essentials (previously character essentials) to starter character essentials. We hope this adds to the confusion and haphazard and random ways we communicate with our audience."
This is new in the writeup: "Textures are not included in this product and are provided by certain character products". Will these "certain character products" include textures that match the base textures from Starter Essentials or whatever it's called? And how much more are they going to charge us before this product we've already paid for will be usable?

It's a way to describe what has been the standard for DAZ figures: some PAs deliver them with, other PAs deliver them without anatomical element textures.
I printed the promotion on the first day for character essentials and there was no 'required product'. As noted above, the only difference I can see now is 'Genesis 9 Starter Essentials' is listed under Required Products.
But the wording of the orange banner is totally bizarre. I closed it so I could navigate.

It's simple. Now we have a product 'Starter Essentials for Genesis 9' with 'Genesis 9 Starter Essentials' as required product
And one of them is free and one is paid. Yeah, communication can be hard.

How is Starter Essentials a required product for Starter Essentials?
One can load the offending mesh into the scene even without a character, can't one?
I also think genitals textures are missing :( What is the point by providing base textures for Genesis 9 (in a free bundle), but not textures for genitals if we paid for them ?

Textures have never been included with Anatomical Elements. It's just the geografts. Besides, the base texture is not very interesting or something that gets a lot of use, so it would not be something we customers would want to pay extra for.
NB: Not all PAs include those textures with their characters, so that's something to look out for.

Because apparently we just paid for the anatomical elements and not their textures since the base textures (apparently on purpose) don't come with genital mats. This is supposedly "how it has always been" but in the past it wasn't so obvious since the genitals were part of the pro bundles that actually came with genital textures that matched the bundled character (which is actually true even now... well, so far at least).
Actually I guess strictly speaking we didn't even pay for anatomical elements. We paid for character *essentials*... I mean "Starter Essentials for Genesis 9" (not to be confused with Genesis 9 Starter Essentials) with the anatomical elements coming as a sort of bonus because naturally people purchased the character essentials just for the iris colors and eyebrows and definitely not because of the anatomical elements.
Now we have character... I mean starter esentials for genesis 9* with anatomical elements that don't have textures and a Victoria pro... I mean intro... bundle that is conveniently priced similar to pro previous pro bundles but is content wise more like a starter bundle, and has textures but not anatomical elements.
*again not to be confused with genesis 9 starter essentials... though if you ask from me, I guess someone probably botched the orange info bar and the update was not related to change of name but the content prerequisites
Edit: Now don't get me wrong. I think it was smart to move the genital grafts into a separate product since that way you are not forced to buy a pro bundle. It's just that I'm a bit salty they didn't come with mats that match the base textures even though I technically should have expected this because of some historical precedent

This time there are more "base" textures than before (4 female and 4 male skins) - and they are ported from paid characters for G8. Sooo - they are not that basic nowadays.
Yes, I understand, but I really liked all the textures that are included with G9, but unfortunately I can't use them and have to wait for a character who has a similar texture :(
Correct me if I am wrong, if I remember correctly when I bought the first G8 male pro bundle, the anatomical element included DID have 2 types of G8M base male naughty bit textures (you know the with or without ****skin thing). Some PAs items like those of kooki99 always say the anatomical element applies "base mat"... Mandela effect?

It will be nice for those that have a shtick about completing sets symmetrically if they added those 8 textures to that set but I guess they feel it has the potential to erode sales too much, after all those are very generic textures and there are 8 of them.
The Victoria 9, as became customary in the G8.1 human products, does include textures for both male & female. It's more than just the genitalia materials they had to alter to do that. Since Genesis 9 is now unimesh, Victoria 9 is essentially two products, Victoria 9 and Victor 9, like that old movie Julie Andrews was in Victor/Victoria.

You are wrong. They would have come with the material set for the character "pro" bundle you bought to obtain them and, since the realse of G8.1 products, the material set for the other gender too. They never came with Genesis ## Starter Essentials.

Huh, then this G9 logic is completely new to me, at least TO ME. Call me nuts. Oh well, off to show those lightsabers in nude renders.

No, the 1st pro bundle you bought included naughty bit material for THAT character, and not the base G8 character. That's never changed. It's the same now with V9. No naughty bit materials for any base characters, just naughty bit materials for the V9 character.
So DAZ listened to the complaints and modified the listing to avoid confusion. The made the anatomical elements a specific bullet point in the listing. They made a footnote that explained about the textures. Good job!

Umm, what exactly does this mean considering for me the link still takes to character essentials? Is it just that my browser shows some old page?
Edit: or was the update just that they added the starter essentials as a prerequisite. Not sure if it was there before?
Am I reading this backwards or did they change the name of the paid product to be even more similar to the free package it keeps getting mistaken for?
Ok, now I am REALLY confused. **sigh**

We have a saying around here but I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to share it.
I'm sure someone in the Daz crew is some sort of emotion vampire that thrives on confusion...

Apparently the banner left out a word, product page now shows as:
Genesis 9 Starter Essentials Expansion

I just had this show up in DIM for me.
Haven't installed it yet, so don't know what's in it.
