Yes the line in plug using Morph Vox and Audacity (you can pick Screaming Bee as the mic input in Audacity)

A dirctional mic is better than an omni.  It makes it easier to eliminate room noise and isolate just the voice.   A 'cardiod' or 'super-cardiod' pattern is best for vocal recording.  Condenser mics are very good for vocals, but may require extra hardware (a pre-amp, if it doesn't have one built in...that's something to look at in the specs).  Dynamic mics are fine, too...they don't need a pre-amp.

A good headset, with a high quality mic (some of the gaming headsets...the upper end ones) can be better for voice work than a stand alone mic.  The mic is close to the source, designed for vocal frequencies and moves with you if you move your head.  Being close to the source means less room/background noise and lower input levels, which means lower, overall noise.  Being specifically desgined /tuned for voice means better clarity, less distortion and lower noise (hiss, etc).  Moving with you...should be obvious.  With a directional stand mic, there is very little room for movement...and sitting at a computer while recording isn't really an optimal position to do it...there is a reason vocal artists/singers stand when performing/singing.
