For a second there, I thought someone was asking for a cartoon word bubble PROP... and I had mental images of Deadpool beating the snot out of Bullseye with his speech bubble. :D

Assuming you are into making comics (graphic novels) because of the speech bubble thing, Comic Life will also help a lot with the layout of cells and panels and lettering art. It's a good buy for $30.

I used to use Manga Studio 5 before that it was EX 4, but since the removal of image drag and drop into panels in MS 5, I went to Comiclife 3 and not looked back.. The best thing I found with Comiclife 3 is the inclusion of comic style lettering..

Below is a early sample of what can be done in CL3..  The images were rendered in Studio 4.9 and run through JixPix's Moku Hanga image filter..

The one thing I like about the speech balloons in CL3 is they can be changed in so many ways and there are about 12 different types..

I think I want to know where that comic is heading :)

    ---------------

I'm not a huge fan of Comic Life for lettering...well, let me change that...It's actually pretty good for placing balloons, but I find it too clumsy for lettering.  My characters can get verbose (I'm much more in the Chris Claremont/JM Dematies writing vein), and Comic Life doesn't give me the control I need to fit the words into the balloons and make them ledgible without the baloons filling up the entire pannel.

So I'll do balloon placement in Comic Life, then go to Photoshop for lettering (I yanked the fonts out of Comic Life so I can access them in other programs).

I will say, though, there was an update between when I first tried Comic Life and the second time and they improved the control a lot, so it's clearly an area they're working on.

If you have an Ipad the Comic Life Version for IOs is much cheaper (4,99$) and it can do almost all the Desktop Version can do.
