OT Scroll Wheel on mouse

Has anyone had the scroll wheel on their mouse just stop working? I use to spin the wheel and web pages would scroll up and down and in programs like Daz Studio and , I could zoom in and out. But all of the sudden I can no longer do that. I can still press and hold the wheel and I think it lets you pan in some programs. But that's it. Does that mean the mouse is bad? It's a wireless Microsoft keyboard and mouse. I have the same set on another computer. I tried using the mouse on this computer, but it didn't recognize the mouse at all. Maybe it's tied to the little thing you plug into the back of the computer.

I'd get a new keyboard/mouse if that's what it is. But I would hate to buy it and find out that that still doesn't fix it.

It was working fine. I noticed that the red light was on meaning the batteries were weak. I changed the batteries. About the same time I bought the upgrade to CorelDraw, and I had trouble installing it. It said that it couldn't continue because it was already installed. (It actually meant the Visual C++ that it uses. The fix was to uninstall a specific Visual C++ update, install CorelDraw and then reinstall the Visual C++, ) So I successfully upgraded to the newest version of CorelDraw, but the mouse still won't scroll.

I miss the scroll.

It could be a bad mouse or a corrupt driver. Could you borrow a mouse from a friend? Or can you purchase a mouse somewhere that you can easily return it? That way you could check and be sure that it would fix the problem.

Mine does almost the same thing, it either doesn't scroll, or scrolls in a random direction when I spin the ol' wheel. Another mouse works fine. Just waiting for my vertical ergonomical mouse to arrive. Don't have any wrist problems yet, and want to keep it that way.
