Studio to Clip Studio Paint, 3D import questions

Clip Studio Paint (Manga Studio) is on sale now, and I was wondering about a feature that the EX version has that might pertain to Studio users. Has anyone tried exporting a figure from Studio, importing it into Clip Studio Paint via the 3D object importer, and checked to see if it remains poseable in any way? I saw an example video where a 3D figure was imported and the individual body parts were moved, but I couldn't tell if they were just parented child objects or a figure like ours.

The toning features for 3D objects are interesting as well, it might be able to give better toony results than anything we can do within Studio. I have the normal version of Clip Studio Paint, but I just thought I'd ask and see if anyone has explored these features before. Thanks in advance for any information.

  • I've got the EX version. I'll see if I can figure out how to do the thing, and let you know.

  • My research of how to do the thing has unearthed this

Which makes it look like...obj will work if you put the textures in the same folder, but it won't be possible in MS/CSP.

Thank you very much. It does sound like it's difficult to get good results. That's not too surprising though because CSP is not a 3D program.

I did see something in a video that might help you actually; you can get OBJs to load with their textures applied in CSP if you zip the obj, the mtl, and the textures up in one file and just drag that into your workspace.
