V7 in Reality 2.5, can it be done and is it worth it?

I have Reality 4, and no I have not installed it, but yes I own it, but no I'm still working with Reality 2.5
Daz has discounts on V7 right now and I can get this for dirt cheap and might just do it.
I want to know if it's worth it coming from a V4/M4 background and using R2.5 with Lux because I won't be rendering in 3DL or Iray for the foreseeable future.

thank you.

    I also still work with Reality 2.5, and i have tried to work with Victoria 7, just to see how she would look when rendered with Reality 2.5, and i must say; i am liking it...But i still prefer the GF2 and V4 versions, but that is my humble opinion. My computer is an oldie, so maybe in the future i will upgrade to Reality 4...Here you can see the render i made with Victoria 7;

    thanks, I'm still trying to figure the Gen3 out, I never used G1 or G2 so this is all new. I did install R4 at Paolo's request and bought the V7 preset for $3 so my $20 for V7 and her morphs and faces will pan out when I have more time to experiment, but at present I'm a little lost with it. Much has changed.

    Never used V1 and V2 before? Then this is a big step forward...But these Genesis versions work almost like V4 (on textures in Reality) So you did a upgrade to Reality 4 already, and also work with 2.5? I can't tell anything about the 4 version, because i didn't do that upgrade yet, and i still feel comfortable with the 2.5 version.But when i used the GF3 version , i really had to fiddle a lot for the eyetextures, because i love to work with V4 eyetextures, but that is not possible now...So i used eyetextures from GF2.

    Yes, a lot has changed, and i am a person that likes to hold on on things that i know and like, but sometimes we just have to go on...even we don't want to...:D

    you can have both 2.5 and 4 installed, and doing so you will have two versions of LuxRender installed (Reality points to the right one so they wont conflict). I confirmed with Paolo they will both exist in the same instance of studio but I've used 2.5 for so long I feel a bit intimidated with 4, truth be told I was intimidated when I first used 2.5 and after a few hours reading the Users Guide and monkeying with it I realized it was pretty straightforward. I wouldn't have gone ahead had Paolo not commented that a lot had changed in 3 years and some of the functionality 2.5 did not have with Lux has become available with 4, along with the fact 2.5 is not compatible with anything past Lux 1.4

    I don't see the upgrade on daz's site but it is on preta3d dot com

    That being said I have yet to have a moment to try this all out.

    I use 4 and iray I still find it slow compared to iray but it does not run one's machine as hot.

    hot as iray or hot as 2.5

    iray would be a CPU thing for me, 4GB GPU RAM would not get me very far.

    Hot as with iray
