3DU Megan - Matt

Haven't seen any traffic about the 3D Universe Megan/Matt Bundle so I thought I'd post a couple of quick renders. All default Iray settings. No post, no adjusting. Another 3DU great Toon product. Will be lots of fun!
For those on the fence about GPU, GTX980Ti (runs @1320 at thermal limits 80C) - 67 seconds for Megan-Matt, 56 seconds for Megan
Edit: Just so everyone is clear, these are quickly composed renders, with all default Iray materials as provided by 3DU. I didn't adjust anything except camera position. Lighting is from Sveva via Rendo.
Consider these "out of the box".

My first reaction was he looks much less scary than Corey 6!!!
They look nice and may grab one day to GenX to earlier figures I use since I see are FBM.
Megan's hair seems to bend strangely, not nearly as nice as many other 3DU hairs to me... Is that something that can be fixed with SubD? (Still a DS noob...)
I was surprised to see the promos of the Megan hair in various colors. 3DU hair tends not to come in anything other than the base color. Were the promos done using shaders?
They do seem to look like classic 3DU characters. It's as recognizable a style as Thorne's fae characters. A bit more stylized than some of the earlier ones, but G3 is shaping up to be a 'Toon-friendly generation.
Will be interesting to see these mixed with some of the other G3 bases.
I am waiting for the new Toon Generations that will be a similar style.
I like the male hair. I don't tend to render toons, but short normal male hairs are sort of in short supply in the store. (No pun intended) I Would've bought it if sold separately.
Try to change the base color, it works fine for the Haley hair.
And the glossy color as well, to the same color...
Matt is nice but to me he looks too "plastic"........
All materials were as provided by 3DU with the characters. Megan's Hair comes in Black, Brown, Pink, Platinum, and Red. Matt's hair comes in . . . . Brown.
My first thought on seeing Megan: "I bet I could turn her into Daria."
No, actually, that was my second thought. The first was "what is with that lower lip?"
The ladies always get more options (Megan has a texture pack for clothing too (by SilvaAnt3d)) - mainly because they sell more so it's worth spending the time on, I guess.
At least with the Genesis line of toons, clothing isn't as much of an issue
I've wishlisted the bundle - can't afford it now, maybe next year (by which time I might have enough time to work on another toon project)
They do look cute.
But they don't seem to have separate head and body morphs, common 3DU traits. That's a total buzz kill, automatic pass for me. I made that mistake once, never again.
They're toons, that's pretty much how they're meant to look.
That's interesting. While I usually render brunette female characters, I actually had a specific need to use a facial shape like Megan's for a blonde portrayal, then noticed the eyebrows were apparently brown. If she comes with specific hair which changes to those colorus, are there options to change her eyebrow colour, to match with the various different hair colours? I'm guessing 'platinum' is blonde?
Here is a quick render I did of her wearing VYK Sad Sue texture. I added the grunge frame in filter forge.
@Xenomorphine
No eyebrow options. I guess, since these are Toons, that the author thinks limited options are sufficient.
FWIW, Most Blondes I see RARELY have blonde eyebrows (
). Even the natural blondes.
Platinum is almost white blonde.
Megan does use the G3F UV's so lot's of skin choices. LIE makeup sets and tattoos also work fine.
@fictionalbookshelf
Really, really nice render.
Appreciate the answer!
I so wanted to buy the bundle the moment I saw them but my CC is on its way because the old one was compromised somehow now its driving me crazy. :0
I almost never buy a bundle and I did it with these two!! andI can't wait for the Toon Generations for Genesis3 comes !! WHOOT !!!! Love'em !!
Isn't there a way to save the morphs out seperately??
Not really any easy way to separate the head/body morph that doesn't involve a modeler, unless I'm misinformed. Been playing around with various tutorials but I can't get anything to work well. The neck/head transition always comes out looking weird. I have a few FBMs that I'd like to split, unfortunately including this one now.
And I'd echo the buzzkill comment from outrider42. Buyer beware, there are no separate head and body morphs with this product. I really don't care for the face/head shape, but the stylized body shape would have been just right for a render I'm doing right now.
Is this something that's been announced somewhere? I can't find anything about it?
It's on 3D Uinverse's FaceBook page they have the "Toon family" complete ,and are still working on accessories for them ,I'm hoping they will be here by the end of the year ....here's the link to the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/3DUniverse/
Well I guess that answered my question. have to pass as I need separate morphs, I bought a tempest3D character at rendo last week that had the same thing and it has been unusable for my needs. I rarely do anything toon, but I liked the stylized look of Megan and wanted to see how she looked mixed with other morphs, oh well.
Agreed. She looks nice, but I'd like to have been able to use her head on something like Star's body dialed in a bit, rather than use the one she has. Or maybe just a more normal body, with Megan's body at 50% while her head is 100%. You cannot do that with this item. And I'm not going to try to break them apart when they should have been separate to begin with.
Hmmm I wonder if the mophs could be saved out seperatly with GenX ...but she could still be mixed with outher characters....
I've tried doing that with another single morph character with no success. But there may be somebody who knows better than I do because some of GenX's menus still confuse me. It would seem to be possible.
I'm a sucker for any 3DUnivese toon characters that have both male and female versions; even without the head and body being seperate morphs (though the genesis characters were, and are still great) I find their DNA still fun for mixing with other characters. The original Toon Generations was the first set that allowed a full-range of ages and genders for toons, and I'm really looking forward to the next generation of them.
Haven't had any real time to play with these guys yet, but I managed to knock off two quick 'n' dirty renders using Matt, Megan and the Pixie (with a touch of Captain Charisma), the old 3DUniverse pirate map and the PWT shader (with the Antares cockpit).
