Is everything at 79% off??

in The Commons
I'm getting notifications about items on my wish list being greatly reduced. Looks like a blanket 79% discount on the whole store. Surely another mistake, right?

This has to be a mistake. Im showing the same discounts.
Greetings,
The store is drunk. ;)
Happy New Year!

Must be a mistake as it's affecting new items too
Tried putting something in my cart - no discount at checkout. Looks like another store glitch.
Yep too bad I bought a few things earlier. But that didn't stop me from clearing my wishlist of lots of items
Seems corrected now.
Cleared my wishlist, and was circling back for some insane bundles (Darrius 7 at $19, Monique at $26) when all the items in my cart jumped back up to the original prices.
I was about to say... wtf happened... $14.99 for the pro bundles... I was loading my card and went from $100 to $900
Not even remotely funny :(
I was like, ok, a decent sale for New Year's Day. I was just about to cash in my cart when the prices bumped back. This caused me to reflect. With the discounts I felt like I was paying a fair price for single items. When it bumped back up, I had to ask myself, why I am wasting my money on this content. I spent a lot of $$$ last year, the year before, etc. etc. I respect that the merchants can put in some serious time, but the quality of many items isn't that great. I find most hair products look nice in the promos, but in the "real" world of rendering, they suck. For the price of a couple of digital items, I can buy a brand new AAA game(s) for my consoles or PC. I can buy a season blu-ray set of my fave show. I think a lot of us (most of us) here are just rendering for hobby fun. Well, this was a wake-up call for me not to spend any more money except possibly for something of significant high quality at a reasonable price.
When all was said and done, I emptied my cart and then emptied my wish list. I feel much better for it.
Unfortunately, while US contract law requires companies to honor pricing errors if the contract is actually completed (in this case, if you successfully check out) it does not protect the items sitting in your cart.
I suppose I should turn in a ticket and return the transaction I was able to complete. It will probably freak Jamie the help desk person out.
yeah a lot of rawart's stuff was under $2 even the two new characters as well as other stuff and it was that way all the way to the checkout missed it though was going through everywhere looking at what else was at insane prices missed it by that much
I'm surprised you got that far. When I tried to put one of the "discount mistakes" in my cart the full price was displayed, not the false discount.
Have they even got one day right yet? I just shake my head !!!
I managed to check out with almost 20 RawArt items for INSANE discount prices including the two new items. I couldn't believe my New Year's Luck - WHAT A SALE! But just two short hours ago I had cashed out $200 worth of last minute end-of-year-loyalty-sale-priced-items and hesitated at even these insane prices, but I quickly pulled the trigger (and got everything crazy cheap) and then thought, well, what else is on sale? I had about forty items from my wishlist in my cart when everything bumped up to $900. YOW! Empty cart - click.
Now I feel bad for taking advantage of RawArt - always such great stuff and I have SO MUCH RawArt already. But, seeing as how I did nothing intentional, nor did I try to exploit it, nor did I comprehend that it really wasn't merely a GREAT SALE, I think I am going to press on and just keep the stuff. If DAZ didn't have a banner ad that says 'Massive Annual Sale' I might have suspected the low prices and not taken unfair advantage of it. Part of me feels bad, part of me feels 'lucky'.
Thanks DAZ, my first real emotion of the the New Year is a feeling of being 'conflicted'. :(
I saw those but I hestitated and lost the huge discounts and emptied my cart, because whether they were huge discounts or not, I want to do some 3D modeling of my own and as it is I'm getting close to practically have everything I want from the store anyway. I didn't realize it was a mistake though as I've seen these price fluctuations all 2016. I usually refresh my cart one or two last times before everytime I check out to make sure the prices are right. So in any case, I am glad I bought about $50 worth of product at the correct discount yesterday before the year end sale ended today at any rate.
I did get a $6 DAZ Original with my monthly coupon that was discounted from the usual $17 it costs for free.
Umm Yes, but right under "Massive Annual Sale" it said: "up to 70% off". It didn't say 90% off - which is what a lot of item where listed as - particularly RawArt's items and Daz Original items. I have a really hard time believing you didn't realize those prices weren't intentional. I'd say buying $200 worth of items at an obviously glitched price of 80%-90% off IS taking advantage of it.
Greetings,
Gltiches happen, and DAZ has been exceptionally good about honoring them. The place where it gets squirrelly for me is with Gift Cards, as it's too tight a correlation to actual money.
Still, I understand the feeling of conflict. I've picked up things at glitch sales before, and I take some solace that they're usually exceptionally brief (although this one appeared to last longer than most do, probably because New Years Eve). Here's a suggestion: Take the stuff you got at a steep discount, and do a really nice render with it, and make sure to tag it with the items. Think of it as giving back.

Well, I was busy filling my cart, then stopped to compose a support ticket asking if these prices were real, then cancelled that and posted this thread. So I didn't buy anything and by the time I looked at the prices in the cart, they were normal again. So I just assumed another glitch.
The reason for the support ticket was because I've bought a lot of stuff over the past couple of weeks and to see all those purchases at a much lower price had me thinking - this is not fair - how do we know when to buy and when to wait? So, in a way, I was relieved that I hadn't paid too much.
Well, emptied the cart as soon the price was changed.. i shouldn't have gone back and check for more...
I suspect that on the whole, glitches work out in the best interests of the house. Like the sale would be advertised at 50% off and you may only get %40 off, little things like that.
I spent over $500 in the store since the Christmas sales started. That's about 2/3 of my annual budget for Daz. I rationalized that if I limit my buying the rest of the year to just use the pc+ coupons and maybe any absolute must have items, I'll come out spending less and getting more for the cash.
Some time ago one of my internet buddies who's one of the big PA's here complained of selling over a grand that week taking home only a few dollars. In that sense it seems like the artists are really getting rogered by these deep discount sales. But the reach comes from this brand right? They are given the terms up front and accept them, don't they? It's a free market society and as much as I respect what they do, these are digital goods. For the kind of money I spend on CG goods, I could buy a new car every decade and a nice one at that.
I make little artworks that on the whole don't really matter to anyone but me, but it gives me instant gratification to create them. I think it's a positive hobby that does me some good a harms nobody.
I don't really feel bad for anyone in this exchange.
Daz has said in the past if glitches happen it is okay to buy. So I have no problem taking advantage of glitches when they occur.
I thought it was a site wide sale? didn't everyone get a 83% off today? I thought it was part of the new years sale until i seen this thread. So its a glitch? Dang!
Oh well thanks for the great deal on the dragon 3 content Daz guys Happy new years.
It could have been an intentional suprise sale. It was new years after all. No real confirmation either way.
You're new here (I had to check your profile). I've been a DAZ customer for maybe 25 years, back before Zygote spun off their low end line into the "Digital Art Zone". Cart pricing is normally an arcane mystery. Half the time I've got discounts coming in from who knows where. Loyalty discounts, platinum club discounts (which used to apply to everything), buy this figure get x discount on something coming out next month discounts (that I'd have totally forgotten about by the time the new item came out), incremetal discounts from the "bingo game" style sales they were doing a couple of years ago, and other, totally incomprehensible stuff.
I'm years past giving up on thinking a cart was "too low", screen capping it, sending it to DAZ to say "is this right"? Especially since the cart price is most likely going to change before support gets back to me. Now, I usually just say "that was interesting", unless there's negative numbers or infinities in the cart (which really does happen from time to time). I had something like a negative 10 million one time. I wonder if I'd have owned DAZ if I had checked out with it.
The reason I ran into this particular glitch in the first place was that I was on at 1:30 AM (my time) trying to decide in the last 1/2 hour of life of my 35% off stacking discount when DAZ flaked out on me. When it came back, around 2:30, the cart was lower than it was before, but not by much. So I just assumed more stacking stuff. Checked out while it was working, because, with DAZ, there are windows around the expiration of big sales where life is too much for the servers and you have to grab them when they're working and hope for the best.
Ain't that the truth?
Been around here quite some time myself and it's always been that way...'grab them when they're working' seems to be the best way to deal with it.
DAZ still made a sale glitch or not. That's not the my problem. I'm not here to check on whether DAZ' system is working well or not or whether someone wasn't paying attention to what they were supposed to be doing. For all you know, it was a secret "flash" sale. I'm a consumer and I look out for the best deal I can get. I won't sleep over it...it's just the cost of doing business.
Ive never seen pricing issues like this at such a high frequency on any site. The only guess I can muster is that this bug is burried deep within the code. So deep, it would take a new site design to correct. Maybe that is why we still see this issue crop up. Perhaps it hasnt been fixed because its more practical to redesign as opposed to monkeying with the infrastructure.
Nasty bug...
I dont think its fair for all the talented artists who sell at this site to be subjected to this issue and I hope that daz is covering any losses as a result of this bug.
It isn't the customer's job to price check. It is the store owners job to correctly price items and to make sure their site is functioning.
If problems occur with the pricing they need to cover the difference with the PA's who were undrecut in sales due to their site failures.
Nope...it's lived through at least one complete change over. It used to be much worse.
As far as the "bouncing prices just after DAZ midnight" go, I remember we've been told more than once that was because the connection between us and DAZ now goes through the CloudFlare cloud service. It takes a little while for all the servers worldwide to re-synchnonise, so during this period — which can be up to an hour (because the DAZ store database is slightly mindbogglingly huge) — we've learned "look but don't touch" as far as actually buying anything is concerned, until everything settles down. It makes sense as an explanation, but I should hope it wasn't supposed to be this way.
