You might want to ask at the Faeriewylde Forums, a website run by Thorne. They have friendly people, interesting art, and periodic freebies. I have been a little too self-conscious to ask, but that might be the only way we can get kids for genesis.

True. Maybe a petition would work then? Or we can see if one of the lovely creators would jump on board and make the shape? Do you think that Thorne would make the K5 shape as well? I'll ask over in the Luke and Laura for Genesis thread and see if there is a response.

That's what I did for David 5! I failed miserably, and David is actually more popular than the Kids...

Can anyone post links to products that are specifically for the Basic Child for Genesis?
    Poses, characters, clothes etc?
Yep I know clothes for Genesis should work on the Child but a lot of genesis outfits aren't really suitable for a child, so I was just wondering if anything has been made for the Child. I can't think of anything in teh store at all!

The Tassel Loafers, Saddle Oxfords, and Sports Clogs I made for Genesis all work fine on the Basic Child.

No specifically kids products here at DAZ. There might be something on Rendo, and Karth did a freebie over on RDNA -- although that may have been with Justin in mind.

Karth has done a number of nice outfits for K4. Indeed quite a few people are cheerfully supporting K4. I don't know whether they are waiting for an official K5 before supporting a Genesis child or not. But only Mada seems to have done things for both K4 and Genesis. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I secretly hope that after they have released all those Freak 5, Girl 5, David 5 etc. figures, they will run out of possibilities for new products and will finally release Kids 5 as well...

Don't count on it. Like I keep saying, DAZ said that if we want characters like a Gen 5 She-Freak and Kids, we are to make them ourselves.

...that's kind of the approach I took when Daz kept stalling on release of the teens.

Now that I have them I find myself pushing their morphs as much as I could while adding a little bit of other characters and ended up with a nice pre teen out of the deal.

    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/226331/

...now I am wondering if I really need to get the Tweeners morphs.

Well, over in the Members' area Sikiriki just turned up a product for Aiko5 in the blank forthcoming wiki lists, so I suspect she may be next in line for a reboot after Freak5. No hint of Kid5 yet, but at the rate that DAZ is bringing out product launches I would expect them to figure it's worth putting together a pro pack for the sake of the sales of the DAZOriginal content to the diehards. They've averaged about one major release a month (sometimes two, but at different ends of the month) for some time now, and it does keep people hanging around despite the wretched store and forum issues.

There were something like 11 original figure sets, of which six have made a reappearance (although the Baby was a one-off by a PA, not a major DAZ release) so that could string us out for a while, interspersed with something like a half-dozen major MilBeasts who might be able to use an upgrade (whether or not they'll get one is unknown), so it's all down to how they decide to play it.

...well, Daz needs to keep churning out more fresh Dazzi-O's so PC members have something to purchase at club discount and use their monthly coupons on since vouchers went bye bye last spring and they no longer get extra discounts on new PA releases.

    You do. ;)

You get bases for the young teens without all that mixing and matching to start with. And a height (and morphs) that puts it in line with the Gen5 characters.

I've done a lot of general clothing, both here with Marieah and at Rendo solo or with Fuseling. All outfits meshed and morphed by me that are not skimpy grownup gear (e.g. the Small Wraps and Necromancer) come with custom fits to Basic Child. This includes the Morphing Business Suit and Flower Power.

I wouldn't be surprised if a more official child morph came along at some point. This is Genesis, omnimorpher of omnimorphers. You can never say "There will never be an X" for it with any degree of certainty.

I want to thank all the vendors and makers of freebies who include the Basic Child morph/shape in their clothing.

I have been reading all these posts in the forum about readme place holders for Freak 5 and Aiko 5 products, so I decided to take a look at the new readmes. I found some for new characters for the young teens. Kobold really interests me. Between Kelpie and Kobold, you could probably create an entire race of aquatic or alien people.

    Kobold - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/15515/start
Haley for Young Teen - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/15583/start
Hayden for Young Teen - http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/15585/start

However, these are the ones that really caught my eye.

Nice. The Ready to Render products are an interesting idea. Most of the scenes are potentially useful and you can always change things out once they load.

Playing around with settings in Luxrender. I'm going for realism and while I'm not quite there, it's looking a lot better than my previous attempts. I should mention that the only postwork on this image was adding the background.

Realism with unbiased renderers depend a lot on the quality of the textures you work with. I find child textures particularly challenging because many of them are hand painted textures. Of course someone with good knowledge with Lux material settings might find it easier but personally I think the better your starting point the better the end result.

...the thing is, in the interim, I already saved her build as a character preset.

Most likely will still get Tweeners for future character development, however right now am putting off new content purchases as my hours at the day job have been cut back and things look "iffy" once our main client of over 30 years is gone after next month.

Also still have a lot of stuff left purposely uninstalled as I am getting the new system ready. I agree, the "32 bit bus" has reached the end of the line. Time to make the transfer to the 'line 64".

Won't be making another purchase until March Madness save for using my PC coupon for next month (if there is a Daz O I need).

Totally forgot about this: there IS actually a child character for Genesis on the market...sort of... Sabrina Blinker over at Renderosity has been updated to include a Genesis version...but apparently the Genesis version requires GenX, which leaves me wondering how it can really be considered a character "for Genesis." She looks nice and realistic, though, and comes in three ages: child, teen, and young adult. If you're interested, she's currently 30% off...

Didn't know she'd been updated for Genesis! I have the V4 Sabrina Blinker currently, so I've emailed Jamminwolf for the Genesis version. Sabrina's a good V4 morph set, though the textures are more suitable for adults rather than children, if only for being anatomically correct.

I suppose that's one of the toughest things for me currently. While there are some decent child characters for K4, there are relatively few texture sets suitable for child characters. One of the reasons I've taken to using Kaelyn so much is because I absolutely love her texture set. Her cute as a button morphs help a great deal too, of course, but I find myself using her textures on Genesis children as well simply because they're in short supply.

That's my main reason for wanting to see a K5. I'd love to see more character texture availability and more unique characters like Kaelyn making a welcome return for the Genesis generation. Until then, K4 will still have a place close to my heart.

Look on sharecg. There's a lot of stuff for K4 there. Poses, clothes, etc that work fine on genesis. The poses may need some tweaking, but not a lot. Specifically check out Just Last Knights wonderful pose sets.

Its more fun to do a Cloth if you have a cute character :-)

Tried to Morph Leilanas Blueberry to the Basic Child*g*
But im not so good in that..the eye part is really difficult to Change
so that the lashes will work after morphing

I was digging around in the Readme documents again and found some interesting items which are new. There seems to be a definite school trend going on with these four items:

    Classroom Furniture
    Dubious School House
    School Supplies
Skool Daze for Parkside High Recess Poser Core

There are also the three characters for the Young Teens which have not shown up yet:

    Hayley Young Teen
    Hayden Young Teen
    Kobold

    Finally there are these products:

    Clown
    Clown Textures

Since there is also a Dubious Pub and Bank, the Dubious School House may just be a coincidence. The other school items could be for a young teens themed release or an Aiko 5 school girl sort of thing. Even if Daz is building toward a Kids 5 release, I suspect that Aiko 5 will be released first.

Of course you should consider how accurate my earlier speculations were before getting too excited ;-P

Kobold has shown up. It was released the same day as Kelpie, apparently as a "one day only! Buy X get Y free!" deal, and hasn't been seen since.

The Dubious stuff is almost certiainly a new series of upcoming Platinum Club releases. Classroom Furniture sounds like it could be Maclean, who has some school stuff already I think. But it could also be tied to the Dubious stuff. Parkside High Recess is definitely Plat Club, and a new addition to the Parkside series. The SkoolDaze sounds like a texture set for it.

Kobold is out. Came out along with Kelpie. (ETA: Oh I see, was only out for a sale.)

I think saw a thread on Hayley and Hayden but I can't remember who the artist is.

Clowns are tricky. There's a lot of K4 clown stuff, but then there are also a lot of the Evil!Clowns out there. Since there are textures, however, it's probably an outfit.

I'm sorry but that is not an acceptable solution. I find it a rather lazy work-around to be honest. At the very least the vendor could save out the converted Genesis presets and distribute those instead of customers having to incur extra cost and jump through hoops to eventually save the presets themselves.
