What browsers work with XP or do I need to find somehow to get something other than XP on this machine?

...not sure about Chrome.  The newest FF version that works with XP is 52.0 but beware it bloats to over 1 GB (usually 1.3 - 1.6 in memory) so if that system has only 1 GB, it will be glacially slow and may even crash.

I would not advise you to go online with a computer running XP.  It is no longer supported.  That doesn't mean updates to the software, that means security patches.  That is why it's a hacker's dream.

True but I am looking for a way to change the OS but I need to connect to the internet to figure out how first.

Both Chrome and IE work fine on my old XP laptop. Some sites in Chrome just complain that I need to update the browser, but they still work.

The space station I'm writing now . . . geostationary orbit (~36000 kilometres up), 2km across (6.2 km circumference), 10 decks in the wheel, 4 zero-g decks in the hub, spins at 1 revolution per 1 minute 12 seconds - that's 88 metres per second on the rim - for 0.8g of centrepetal gravity. And the only way to get there is up the "beanpole" space elevator, at an average vertical speed of 1500 kilometres per hour (932mph), and it takes 24 hours to get there!

Not too hot if you don't like elevators or ferris wheels!

Easy.  Just eliminate the windows. enlightened

Modern versions of IE do not work on WinXP I forgot what level they stop at but there are lot of websites that use code that the last XP supported IE browser can't read properly.  I switched to Chrome for a while until I finally just gave up on using WinXP for browsing.  And the security holes in WinXP scared me off the Internet too.

(???? WTF happened, that first line "Both Chrome and IE work fine..." is not mine, yet the setup looks OK in the edit panel.  WTF surprise ????)  Grrr..., I hate this forum edit technology. angry

I'm not saying things won't work.  Just that it is extremely unsecure.  Who knows how many more security holes have been found by hackers over the last year plus that it's been dropped?

I use Mozilla Firefox with Windows XP service pack 2.  Chrome only works with service pack 3.  I haven't tried internet explorer.

I wouldn't suggest using IE on an old XP computer.  TBH I wouldn't recommend using IE on any sort of computer, and have disabled it on this one. But as XP is no longer supported by MS  it is better not to use IE.

You can install an older version of FF  here http://mozilla_firefox.en.downloadastro.com/old_versions/   you need FF50 or older to work on Win XP

What you need is a supervillain chasing you. USB transfers always finish 0.5 seconds before the bad guy arrives!
