Semi OT finding video drivers with OpenGL

I am searching for video drivers that will work with 10 and my Asus Eee PC can run DS.   It had XP on it but now it has 10.  I do not want to use so called free driver finding software as it ends up just saying the drivers are out of date with no way to update unless one pays them.  Uggghh!   What else can I do?

Go to the card manufacturer site

  • You might run into a problem here, as the hardware in the Eee PC may not have Windows 10 compatible drivers available. Hard to say beyond that.

What is the exact model number on your EEE PC?

I think it is 900HD.  I found the xp drivers but do not know how to get them working.

***edit*** did not realize 900hd is an eee pc model number. Lol If you post the exact model number from the data sticker on the bottom of your laptop, as a community we can see what the exact hardware is and let you know if there are any options for you.

If you can get a copy of windows 7 installed on your machine, Intel has drivers for your graphics on that OS. That looks like the end of the support chain on that one. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20018/INF-Update-Utility-Primarily-for-Intel-6-5-4-3-900-Series-Chipsets-Zip-Format

I can get windows 7 but do not have a cd drive.   I just need to figure how to put a 7 ISO onto a blank USB.  Of course due to my inability to label any of my USB thumb drives finding a blank USB is harder than finding a needle in a pin stack.  Or is it an needle in a hat stack?

    What is a hat stack?

okay anyone has any ideas how to label USB drives?

Was the link in my above post not the drivers for your intel GMA?

If those drivers do not work here is a link to Intel's Driver Update Utility.

    • Intel Celeron M ULV 900MHz processor.
    • Integrated Intel GMA 900 GPU.

That machine I think will only do openGL 2.x which isn't slouchy but it's still over 10 year old technology. If you clean install Windows 7 and then search Google or Bing for Intel Chipset detection / Intel drive download you'll get a link to an intel site where you can download the latest (which is likely to be at least 5 years ago or more) Intel MB chipset, CPU, and GPU drivers for Windows 7.

Then you can upgrade to Windows 10 and Windows 10 will either keep the existing drivers or upgrade them to the Windows 10 equivalents.

You won't endup with openGL 3 or openGL 4 by upgrading HW that old to Windows 10 but you will make your OS, browsers, and various SW clients safer against various malware, trojans, and phishing attacks.
