Had just the opposite here when Spectrum took over TWC price went down about $30.00 and internet speed doubled went from reasonably good to really good.

Only problem is ther just isn't anything worth watching on TV

Other Than NCIS NCIS New Orleans an occasional movie I end up watching 40 year old reruns if I watch TV

also with Sp[ectrum..with the 200meg download...if your modem is old..get a new one. I noticed when they upgraded to 200. a lot of sites seemed slower. I called 3 times becasue of that but the internet speed tests indicated 200+, so they wouldn;t do anything. I downgraded again and got rid of the cable channels so had to bring my box back. While there , the customer service rep mentioned my modem. She goes, yes , we have been seeing slower performance with these and handed me a new one. I hooked it up and the speeds are crazy fast. ... fast fast.

All the cable companies switched protocols and basically were too incompetent to figure out which of their customers had the old modems which didn't support it. They relied on those customers getting frustrated with bad performance and complaining until they got a CS rep who knew what the deal was and told them to come in and swap modems. For those who care about these things it was likely the switch from Docsis 3.0 to 3.1.

My issues with watching tv, espeically on air tv are the following; indecisiveness, not wanting to start a tv show in the middle but wanting to watch it from the start, forgetting when something starts, getting interrupted and missing important parts, and some others I cannot think of at the moment. I almost forgot about a football game that is about to start soon, but remembered in time (AKA before it started)

That's exactly it. My hubby is a cable guy (but not for any of the aforementioned companies...lol).

I've been sitting here enjoying episodes of the old game show "What's My Line?" from 1952 with lots of long dead celebrities.  And the people in the show are dead too. frown ("I once shot an elephant in my pyjamas.  How he got in my pyjamas I'll never know!" -- Groucho Marx )

Remember the show To Tell The Truth (1956 - 1968)

Would that work with my current amazon basics antenna?  Or is it better to get to get the better version of the antenna and sell/give current one to someone else.  I can save up to get the 50 mile radius amazon basics antenna.  My mum needs a new antenna So the current one will not go to waste.

It might. You might just need a better antenna. A lot depends on how far away you are from the broadcast antennas. If you're a long way away from them, 30 to 50 miles, or more, then you likely need an amplifier. If you're closer a better antenna is a better option.

Personally I don't have a ton of faith in the amazon basic brand.  Monoprice sells much higher quality antennas at lower prices than that one.

  • Can also depend on whats between the antenna and the signal that could be blocking or hindering it

I used to live in an apartment that had steel reinforcing in one wall that blocked most of the reception to the indoor antenna from the stations on that side of the building also had a ham radio operator close by and his signal would play havoc with my reception from time to time

It looks to me like the only difference between the 2 antennas is that the ultra has an amplifier. Have you moved your antenna to different locations? The signal strength depends on where the antenna is located and what direction it is facing. If you are in the US check https://antennaweb.org/ to see what directions your stations are.
