Based on Jon Snow?

So, me and the hubby are having an argument angry indecisionno over whether this is based on the character Jon Snow. https://www.daz3d.com/lord-of-snow-for-michael-4

I think it is, (seeing as their are obvious hints) but who knows, I might be wrong.

What does everyone else think? xD

It does say Fantasy for maybe something like LOTR  or GOT  in the blurb

  • JonnyRayJonnyRay Posts: 1,744

I'd say he looks very close yes, but it was Cormac for Elios 8 that immediately made me think "You know nothing, Jon Snow!"

Oh,   if we are talking about the character and not the clothing product,   The one in the promo image is M4 straight out of the box.

I think the outfit is in the first one and the character in the last one

Clothes, absolutely. The red gems are the creators own creative gimmick, but it's Lord Snow with a wolf in de background. Before GoT the black 'nights watch' look wasn't even a thing, everyone was still making Lord of the Rings-based art.

My first thought was this doesn't look anything like him. But you're not talking about Jon Snow the newsreader are you? This seems to be some actor.

But if you go by time  then "the Lord of Snow for M4" came out years before the Game of Thrones  hit the big time ........ so very unlikely it is based on Jon Snow but I could be wrong ........

I may be wrong but I think that was released in t he last couple of years, after the series had begun.

Yea it looks nothing like the real Jon Snow.

It was released just after RDNA was bought by DAZ which is why it was for M4, I still bought it though as still use M4 often wink

Actually it was released in 2016.

I had no clue who Jon Snow is since we never watched that show, but after looking him up, he does resemble him. I tested Lord of the Snow for LLF when I was working at rdna. It was for M4.  We used the LAMH for the fur. You can't see it, but it had a fur 'caplet' on the back. This was an early render I did.  Less detail than Night Guard.

Edited to add: my test files and zips are from 2016, so I don't know how that timeline relates to the show.

I think the bigger question is how can anyone NOT think either that product or Cormac is based on Jon Snow? Anyone who can't see it knows nothing.  ;)

Another giveaway is the name of two texture variations: Fire and Ice. (For those who don't already know, GoT was based on the fantasy series, A Song of Fire and Ice.)

I don't have a TV     and I read the first couple of the books before giving up in disgust  so to me Jon Snow is about 15, not how he is portrayed in the TV series.       What I have picked up is mostly from people talking in the forums,  and apparently they have changed a lot from the books, included the ages of the main characters.

BTW I was very pleased that I only bought 2nd hand copies of the books I did buy.  They would never have been able to make it into a Prime time TV series without almost a complete rewrite or omission of much of the content.

I do have a TV but I don't have Satellite or Cable. I don't think Game of Thrones has been shown on any Freeview channel in the UK so I haven't seen it.

I bought a boxed set of seven paperbacks a while ago that say they are A Song of Fire and Ice but I still haven't read any. I haven't taken the plastic wrapper off the box yet. I prefer SF but I do like Fantasy and I used to read a lot of multi-book sets. These days I read less because I get distracted more, computers, video games, TV, DVDs etc.

The "knows nothing" part of my comment was a joke based on a famous line from the series. I'm still not sure how you managed to avoid ever seeing him all this time while being on the internet though. I don't watch anime, but I know when someone tries to sell an Attack on Titan or Full Metal Alchmemist-inspired outfit, especially when they're named things like "Titan Killer Suit" or "Full Metal Necromancer".  :)

Your view may be different but I found  not only is the Author not a good author in my book, (apologies for the unintentional pun), he has far too much emphasis on paedophilia, incest and rape,  plus oof course loads of violence.   I am surprised ther was anyone left alive at the end.  I didn't make it past the first books.

Since you have a computer, if you are a prime member at Amazon, you can sign up for a month of HBO and binge watch the whole series streaming

I only got halfway through book one, “A Song of Fire and Ice”, it’s still collecting dust by my bed

only watched to series 2 on DVD too but will no doubt pick up a boxed set cheap one day.

Once Jason Momoa was no longer in it I lost a lot of interest

I've always resisted going for Prime membership of Amazon. I don't buy enough physical stuff to justify the free delivery and I think I'm watching enough TV already on Freeview. And I bought so many Kindle books when I first discovered the daily deals I don't want the free Kindle lending libary as well (one of the reasons that boxed set is still sitting there, negected) .

I bought this set on impulse, I've never read anything by this author before so I don't know what to expect. I'm currently reading a book by Patrick Rothfuss which I think is very good, but it's the second of a trilogy and I don't think he's written the third one yet.

Not to depress you or anything, but it was seven years after the first one was published before the second one was. I bought book one because I thought it was a standalone, due to the fact there was only the one book by the author. No one knows when book 3 will be out… Not even the author, as far as I can tell.

The books could use editing, and as said, the violent ideas in the books are more extreme than the show (which already has its share of torture, nonconsensual relations, and murder). The show didn't fare as well when they ran out of books. Season 8 didn't really turn any book reader off of the rest of the books (assuming he doesn't die). If anything, we want to know how it really ends.

Season 8 particularly went off the rails. There's an outline for a good ending in there, but they didn't quite make it. Instead, we got a lot of CGI and far more dragons than we should have gotten. When the CGI dragon gets one of the emotional high points of the finale, something is desperately wrong.

At least Lord Snow got to run off and live with his true love, Tormund Giantsbane.

    /sarcasm or perhaps spoiler

I don't watch TV, I prefer to read books. I read the 5 books A Song of Ice and Fire. Entertaining but a bit on the violent side for my taste. There are too many cliff hangers, the story is still not finished, 2 books are yet missing. The Demon Cycle by Peter V. Brett also has a wide scope but is much less brutal and the author actually managed to finish the story with the 5th book.
